Skinny Shamed

I’ve also worked really hard throughout this process to prioritize protein and strength training so I could maintain as much muscle as possible.

I’m 5’8” and obviously 60 pounds is a significant loss, so I look very different than I did before. But I’ve actually been maintaining since the beginning of the year and focusing more on building muscle/body recomposition. I had a DEXA scan, my labs are great, I feel great, and I know I’m not continuing to lose weight.

Yesterday I was talking to a family member who has seen me throughout my weight loss and is also on a GLP-1. She’s lost 40 pounds, which is amazing, and while we were talking about our experiences she said to me, “Okay skinny, you’re withering away.” I brushed it off and told her I’ve actually been maintaining for months. Then a few minutes later she said again that I was “withering away.”

I know I probably shouldn’t let it bother me, but it did. Especially because while talking about her own goals she made a few comments about not wanting to get “too skinny,” and it left me wondering if those comments were indirectly about me too.

I walked away from that conversation suddenly wondering if I look too thin or if I somehow went too far. And I hate that, because I felt really good about where I was before that conversation.

It’s crazy how quickly someone else’s comment about your body can get into your head, even when everything you actually know about your health and your body tells you otherwise.

How to get from primary care

I got my trt from a Telehealth company and it's great. I would love to be able to get it from my primary care and not have to pay so much out of pocket. I have an appointment with my obgyn this week and I am curious if anyone has been able to get through to them. lol. For context, I am 40 perimenopause. I did get Kaiser to test my total testosterone and it came back at 18 ng/dl which I assume is normal to them.

Seeking honest feedback

I turned 40 this year and have lost about 60 pounds over the last year and a half. While I’m incredibly proud of the weight loss but damn. I honestly feel like my face looks worse than it ever has.

I’ve always had acne scars from my teens and now that I’ve lost weight, they seem much more noticeable. I’m trying to figure out if they’re actually tethered scars that might need subcision, or if they’re more of a texture issue that could improve with treatments like microneedling. I do plan on getting a few different consultations however, a lot of them cost money and it's adds up quick.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. I am in my luteal phase and feeling vulnerable so hey why not post to the universe. 🤦‍♀️

Wire snapped - 3rd time

I'm about seven months into treatment to correct a pretty severe deep bite. I do bite turbos to prop open my bite however, my upper canine does hit my lower wire. I've pointed this out from the beginning and they said it wouldn't be an issue until it snapped the first time, they added more bite turbos then it snapped a second time now I'm going on the third time just now. It's always happening about a month after my wire change so clearly this is an issue. This is not for me eating off-limits foods. I understand that teeth shift and bite changes but at this point it seems like poor treatment on my ortho.

Anything you wish you knew starting out?

40f who just placed my first order. I have mixed feelings. I'm excited to see how it will impact me but also nervous for side effects. The factor that held me back was having to accept it may be a longer term solution. I keep gaslighting myself into thinking how I currently feel really isn't that bad. Any advice for a newbie?

possible skin tag or wart

Has anyone experienced a small smooth bump/skin-tag-like lesion on the inner labia minora/vestibule area that became irritated from friction or touching it too much?

I noticed it months ago but recently became hyperaware of it after it got swollen/red from me messing with it. It seems attached to the inner labial tissue rather than the outer shaved area. I’m planning to have my gynecologist check it, but my anxiety is spiraling and Google is not helping.

Would love to hear if anyone has had something similar turn out to be benign (papilloma, skin tag, cyst, etc.).
