First jar :)

First jar :)

First jar terrarium, made as a gift. Apart from the moss (which I got in a tub of mixed mosses) I just used what I had on hand. Potting soil mixed with bentonite clay, a coffee filter later, and a drainage pebble layer.

Plants:
* Anubias nana petite
* Micro Java fern
* Cypress-leaved hypnum moss
* Heath star-moss

My understanding is that sometimes sellers will label a Java fern as “micro” when it’s actually a young larger variety. I definitely have the true micro version as I’ve had them for years in my aquarium and the leaves only grow to a max of 1.5cm long.

I also have some buce but I didn’t want to put one in there as this is a first go and they’re pricey…

Tru Niagen vs Renue: experiences?

Thinking of switching to Renue as it’s half the price where I am (Aussie). When I look this up in the subreddit I can only find three points:

  1. A couple of people saying Renue worked better for them than Niagen
  2. Several people saying Niagen has more science backing it - I know this is true but I want to hear about firsthand comparative experiences
  3. One guy claiming that Renue is a shitty company without providing evidence

If you find oxaloacetate helpful, try magnesium malate

Malate is a step before oxaloacetate in the Krebs cycle. It’s much cheaper. I find it gives me almost the same boost to my capacity.

I take 1000mg Mg malate daily, which contains about 880mg malate. NOW brand. I sometimes take an extra one on higher exertion days. I was previously taking 500mg oxaloacetate daily, then as needed. I still have some on hand for important days, but use it much less often now.

Numb patch of skin on leg and very minor weakness

27M. The area of skin circled in the picture has been numb for a few hours, potentially days - left leg. Not totally, I can feel some sensation if I scratch or press on it, itchiness, sometimes a very gentle sort of “cold-hot tingling” like when your limbs are waking up after being a bit compressed. The censored area is a 2 month old tattoo that has been itching recently. I have zero pain and zero numbness in other parts of the body like the face and bottom. I think there is a very slight weakness in that leg, I can walk perfectly fine but when I press down on the knee standing up it buckles a little more easily than the other leg.

Honestly it’s extremely easy to ignore, I didn’t even realise until I just noticed it had been there for a few hours and remembered I’d felt some numbness there a few days ago as well (unsure if same size of area).

I will be seeing a doctor on Tuesday, just curious to hear if anyone has any insights before then on what this could be. Very interested in getting nerdy about it if you know e.g. what nerves could be impacted (non expert though, researcher in different medical field)

Say for example, I’m chatting briefly with a work acquaintance and they ask me if I’ve had lunch yet. In this scenario I haven’t had lunch, because I was too busy and forgot, but I don’t want to make a thing out of it, like if they started fussing over me e.g. “you should take care of yourself”. So I just say that I had a burger.

I feel like most people would agree that is a pretty socially acceptable lie with very few consequences. But I would still get kind of stressed out about it and feel bad.

And if I ever have to lie for any reason that’s bigger than that I would get so stressed and down on myself thinking I’m a terrible person, and worrying that the other person would find out and they would hate me.

Hell I even get stressed about telling the truth but worrying that it could be read as a lie, or intending to tell the truth but finding out later I was wrong. I always try to go back to the person and correct myself but if I can’t do that e.g. it was a stranger I bumped into briefly I just feel so bad for misleading them.

Also I’m not a good liar, especially if the lying has to be spontaneous rather than practiced beforehand. The scenarios where I say a white lie e.g. “I had a burger” are already “preset” in my brain so it’s less difficult to pull them out. But if it’s a situation I’ve never encountered before I find it extremely difficult to come up with something on the spot, I would stammer a lot or pause awkwardly trying to think of what to say.

Also I absolutely hate being lied to, for any reason except the most benign, like a little prank that gets immediately corrected after.

I’ve been having serious memory usage issues since the update yesterday. Firefox is lagging and freezing constantly on my laptop and has caused it to BSOD twice with an error message of “Video Memory Management Internal”. I only use like 5 tabs. Windows 11

Anyone else having this issue?
