Apple Pencil Scribble needs a movable handwriting area

When a text field is at the bottom of the screen—especially in apps using Slide Over—it can be uncomfortable to use Apple Pencil because there is nowhere natural to rest your wrist or palm.

I would love a system-wide Scribble panel that can appear higher on the display, roughly the size of the floating keyboard. It could provide a dedicated handwriting surface and adapt its position or angle to how the iPad and Pencil are being held. The converted text would still go into the active field below.

This would make handwriting feel much more like writing on paper and would improve comfort and accessibility across apps.

Apologies for any distortion in the image. It was generated by ChatGPT to help convey the idea.

😤 😡 Immovable Speak Screen Module on the new Macos 27 beta 5

Apple, what the hell is going on with Speak Screen / accessibility? 😡

I genuinely don’t understand what is happening with Apple’s accessibility team anymore.

Speak Screen was completely broken in iOS 27 Beta 4. It literally did not work at all. Fine — it’s a beta, bugs happen.

Then iOS 27 Beta 5 finally fixes it on iPhone. Great.

BUT!!!!! 🤦‍♂️

Now on macOS 27 Beta 5, the little module/control panel for Speak Screen is **completely immovable on the screen.**You can’t properly move it out of the way, position it where you want, or control its placement.

How does something like this keep happening with an accessibility feature that has existed for YEARS?

What is happening inside this team at Apple? Someone please tell them to get their shit together. Seriously.

And this isn't even the only long-standing problem.

There is another issue that has persisted for at least THREE YEARS and still hasn't been properly fixed:

🌐 Speak Screen / Speak Selection cannot properly distinguish languages.

For example, if I select Persian/Farsi text and ask Speak Screen or Speak Selection to read it aloud, it may read it using an Arabic voice/pronunciation instead of actually recognizing and reading Persian correctly.

That makes absolutely no sense.

Imagine selecting an English sentence and having Apple decide:

>

That's essentially what this feels like.

These are not obscure experimental features. Text-to-speech and accessibility are core functionality for people who actually rely on these tools.

And the frustrating part is that Apple constantly talks about accessibility and how important it is — yet some of these issues have been sitting around for years.

I'm not expecting beta software to be perfect. I'm expecting bugs that have existed for YEARS to eventually get fixed.

Whoever is responsible for maintaining these accessibility features needs to seriously take a look at what is going on.

Three years for a language recognition/text-to-speech issue is ridiculous.

That's exactly why it's so damn frustrating when they are broken or neglected. 😤

Please fix this properly, Apple.

[iOS 27 DB5] Spotlight search bug and swipe gestures not working.

A really annoying bug in iOS 27 developer beta 5.

Swipe down on these search interface to select the text within the spotlight search no longer works and swiping from the left edge of the screen to the right to go back no longer works.

MacOS is extremely lagging and slow on 27 DB 4

Am I the only one who’s experiencing this lag when switching between apps. It is so obvious that I cannot ignore it.

I am running macOS 27 developer beta 4 on a MacBook Air 15-inch M4.

I know that it’s a beta, but everyone is bragging on how smooth this beta is. It is not the case for me so far. But i wanna know if im the only one.

Could it be because I have a lot of utility apps installed such as AltTab which shows all the windows of the same apps along with other apps and it is much easier to navigate through.

I will pay for your flights, but accommodation will be on you. Let’s find common ground on what we enjoy. I’m open to seeing new places.
Photography is a big thing for me, so if you’d like that, please don’t bother, because I have had some unpleasant experience with some people I call friends. I take a lot of photos.

I wish these areas for Apple Pencil ✏️ were a lot bigger than this.

Honestly, the entire push for the iPad was to computerize it more. The force to use a keyboard and the position of the camera on the right side of the iPad deterred me from using it as a notebook or writing tool with the Apple Pencil. I’ve never used my iPad with a keyboard and don’t think I ever will. It’s because it’s a device that should be enhanced, not hindered. There are many things that need to be fixed and adjusted for iPad users.

What are your thoughts on this area? I think it could be much better for Apple Pencil users to quickly write and search.

Google, why did you remove the '/' keyboard shortcut to refocus the search bar?! 😡

This was one of my favorite and most used shortcuts on [google.com](http://google.com) — pressing '/' used to instantly focus the search bar so I could quickly edit my search query. Now it's gone and I have to manually click into the box every time. Why would you remove such a simple, useful feature? 😡 Anyone else notice this, or know a workaround?

Did Google remove the '/' keyboard shortcut for focusing the search bar on google.com?

I used to be able to press '/' on google.com to jump straight into the search bar and edit my query, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm on the latest Chrome on Mac. Has anyone else run into this, or is there a setting or extension that restores it? Just trying to figure out if this was an intentional change or something specific to my setup.

The new ChatGPT macOS app redesign has made basic navigation so much worse

I'm honestly frustrated with the recent update to the ChatGPT macOS app. The conversation/search history used to be right there on the side where I could quickly glance at it and jump between chats. Now it's been buried at the bottom of the app, hidden behind extra steps to get to.

This isn't a minor cosmetic change — it has actively disrupted my day-to-day workflow. I switch between conversations constantly throughout the day, and what used to take one click now takes several. Instead of making the app easier to use, this change has made it noticeably more difficult and slower.

On top of that, other platforms let you press "/" on the keyboard to jump straight into the search box — a simple, fast, keyboard-first shortcut. ChatGPT doesn't support this, so now I'm forced to reach for the trackpad every time just to search my own conversation history.

Please bring back quick, keyboard-accessible search and put conversation history back somewhere visible and easy to reach. This redesign took something efficient and turned it into a chore.
