Classic Ultra Rarity weapons I'd like to see in BO7.

I really like the fact that in a way map exclusive weapons are back, however I wish older maps would get the same treatment, so looking at the available BO6 weapons I chose a few guns I think would go well with the previous BO7 maps.

  1. "M16" for Ashes of the Dammed: Being Dempsey's map, the most obvious choice is the M16, which was one of the favorite weapons of his Ultimis version. And now that this Dempsey comes from the Vietnam War it makes a lot more sense. Now and M16A1 would be ideal but we can't make one in BO6 so we have to stick with the A2/A4 hybrid we can build.

As a base it'd use the XM4 with the 3 round burst mod, the long barrel and heavy stock. The Fast Mags II magazine (Holding 30 rounds) is optional as it makes it look closer to the classic M16s in Zombies, but I'm fine with either one, only the Barrel, Stock and 3 Round Burst are essential.

After PaP it'd get an underbarrel grenade launcher and become full auto, just like the BO1 one.

  1. AK-74 for Astra Malorum: This is Nikolai's map, so it should get a weapon related to him, unfortunately the PPSh is already taken, so I went with the second most iconic Soviet weapon in the series: The AK-74u. I tried building one, but unfortunately it doesn't look as good as the XM4 M16. So I think it'd stick with the base AK-74 only adding rapid fire.

With this version of Nikolai being from the Afghanistan war, the AK-74 should be a weapon he'd be acquainted with, so I think it'd work.

  1. "AUG" for Paradox Junction: My first thought for a Paradox weapon was the M1928, because Alpha Omega was one of the few BO4 maps that had it, and because it'd be another link to MotD, but no M1928 in BO6 so...

I ended up between the FFAR and ABR, from the list of classic guns available in the game. I leaned to the ABR, because I guess it was in BO4's Alpha Omega, and because I have different plans for the FFAR. Only attachment it needs is the Full Auto mod so it's closed to the OG AUG, would be better if it could get an underbarrel shotgun, but that doesn't exist in BO6, only option would be giving it the Shadow SK one.

But then, since Rex Infernus is getting 2 Ultra weapons, I thought "what about a second one for each map?"

  1. Gravemark .357 for Ashes of the Dammed.

Now this particular revolver isn't really part of the iconic weapons you would normally think about. But it fits the western vibes from Ashwood and I guess Primis Dempsey used the New Model Army in the Origins Intro, so even though this isn't the same revolver, it could be associated with Dempsey? Maybe not but I think it'd be a fun addition at least for Ashwood. The only attachment it'd add would be FMJ and reduce the capacity from 8 to 6 rounds.

  1. SVD for Astra Malorum: What other classic soviet gun could be added? The SVD, while not particularly iconic as it was only on BO1, I think it's good enough and would add some variety. It's also a gun Nikolai would be acquainted with, the only attachment I'd add would be FMJ.

It'd keep the BO6 PaP effect because I really liked it.

  1. Essex Model 07 for Paradox Junction: I considered this as the second Ashes gun because it also fits the western vibes, but I chose the Gravemark instead, so left the Essex for Paradox, no attachments are needed, but I gave them some that I thought look cool and were a bit closer to the BO4 Essex.

  2. "STG-44" For Totenreich: you're probably thinking "OP there's no STG on BO6" And well there's not but we have the "Warrior's Blood" blueprint for the Model L. Which would be perfect as the second gun for Richthofen's map alongside the MP40. It'd have the attachments included by default with the blueprint and nothing else.

  3. FFAR for Kowakujo: My logic here is, since Kowakujo has a lot of Gorod Krovi influence (including the PPSh) what's another iconic Gorod Krovi weapon? And the first that came to mind was the FFAR, maybe my logic makes no sense to you but it does for me. Type 100 and Arisaka would've been the ideal 2 weapons for this map but we don't have them so... PPSh and FFAR for "Gorod Krovi 2".

Lastly, just for fun I thought "Kowakujo has an ultra rarity melee weapon, what about every map getting one?" Of course this would require the devs making new weapons since they can't port them over from BO6, but my choices would be.

Bowie Knife for Ashes, it's Dempsey's map and it fits as The Original "super melee" weapon. For Astra it'd be the Sickle because it's Nikolai's favorite melee weapon in BO1. And the logical choice for Paradox would be the Galvaknuckles. Totenreich doesn't need an Ultra Rarity melee because it already has a WW Melee and we already used all the iconic classic zombies ones, but if one had to be added, only one I can think about would be something like the Skål Crusher from Vanguard.

What do you think? Any other BO6 guns you'd like to see carried forward to BO7?

Varangian Guard should me a "Team Bonus" unit like Genitours, Condottieri and Elite Skirmisher instead a regional unit for Scandinavians.

Varangian Guards are essentially mercenaries, much like the Condottieri, they were most famously employed by the Byzantines ("Varangian" is the name given to them by the Greeks) but they also served other kingdoms.

Therefore I think it'd be logical for them to be available for other civs as a mercenary like unit for Varangian allies the same way as the Condottiero, likewise it also doesn't make much sense for the other Scandinavian civs to just have Varangians as a base regional unit, because why would they use viking mercenaries when they're already viking themselves, unless of course they're already allied to the Varangians like the rest of the civs.

The only issue I could potentially see would be something preventing both Varangian Guard and Condottiero to work properly if a team happens to have both Italians and Varangians, however considering how an Scandinavian player allied to an Italian should be able to use both units at the same time I don't think there'd be any issue.

Only cases where I could see a potential UI problem would be Americans and Goths because they'd also have the Eagle/Champi and Huskarl at the barracks, which menas they'd end up with 5 different barracks units, but I think there's ways to fix that.

What new architecture set would you like to get next in the game?

With the 2 latest DLCs introducing new sets for existing civs (Incas and Vikings) I think we could expect more sets to be added in the future for other existing civs (Except Persians, for some reason)

Additional possible architectures that didn't fit in the poll:

Byzantine architecture, or maybe a Byzantine/Turkish hybrid for both of them. Additionally how about a hybrid set that starts as one and then becomes another in later ages? For example if a nomad set is added, how about Magyars or Turks starting with the nomad set for Feudal age and then switching to Eastern European / Middle Eastern sets on Castle or Imperial?

South American civs should also ideally get their own sets as the Inca set doesn't really fit them, specially for the Tupi, but I think it's too early to think about giving them different sets.

Also not a full architecture set but would be cool if Romans got a unique monastery based on the Pantheon of Agrippa, which is the perfect blend between a classical Roman Paganism temple and a Catholic one. Also Romans should get the Catholic Cardinal monk skin.

Any other Architecture or Monastery that you'd like to see added?

What Historical Battles Civ would be your top pick for turning into a fully playable one?

Before anyone asks, Ethiopians and the United States are in this list because they had a playable Historical Battle before they turned into a full civ, and this version is different from the normal one available on Skirmish and Multiplayer.

Tips for Suryavarman 4

After a long break I resumed my campaign attempts on hard, but I'm currently stuck at Suryavarman 4 (the one where you have to defend some Dravidian allies) the issue here is that the enemy doesn't even try to attack me, on Standard they were actually attacking me quite often but on Hard I'm almost invisible and they're focused exclusively on green.

I had a good attempt where the economy was going great, I had already conquered the islands and was on my way to attack the main blue base and then green just died. I tried reverting to a previous save to put some defenses on my own in green's territory but the game doesn't let you build castles in their base, only towers and docks, which were not enough to deal with the absurd amount of orange and blue ships that are constantly attacking them.

Tried restarting and focusing on being aggressive with ships from the start, but blue ended up attacking even earlier and my economy was struggling to take off.

This is meant to be a 1 Sword campaign. I'm definitely worried about the rest of the Rajas campaigns, 11.

Which civs do you think are going to take the current Viking scenarios on Historical Battles and Victors and Vanquished.

•Vinlandsaga

•York

•Ragnar

•Ironside

•Finehair

•Karlsefni

Currently the Vikings are the civ without a dedicated campaign who has the most playable scenarios in the game but now that we're getting new Viking civs, who should take each scenario.

Or should they stay as "Vikings" like they currently are? Because after all we still have the generic umbrella viking civ that the devs don't want to rename even though we have more of them now, so I guess they can simply stay how they are.

Will the cost of the base game increase?

It was revealed today that USA, Mexico and the cosmetic packs will be included with the base game for everyone, which is great.

However when AoE2 did the same thing, including the first 3 DLCs into the base game, they also increased the cost of it. Meaning that people who already had the game got free content but those who didn't would now have to pay for those DLCs whether they wanted or not.

I wonder if this will also happen here. It personally doesn't affect me as I already have the game and all the DLCs. But still I was just wondering about it.

Concerned about Chronicles 3.

Of course we all knew a viking themed DLC was happening because of the flag. But honestly I would've expected Chronicles 3 to happen before that, and with Microsoft's cist cutting spree I'm worried the project might've been cancelled.

Of course the alternative could be that the Chronicles 3 project ended up being way more ambitious that some like Alexander the great and because of that it was pushed later and the Viking DLC moved forward.

I was meant to leave the city intact? too late, should've said that sooner, 11.

Be thankful the scenario ended before I had the chance to finish all the houses.

Since AoE3 has been revived, is there a chance the game could finally be released on Console?

If we count Return of Rome as an AoE1 port, 3 is the only main game in the series that doesn't have a console release. Of course that was seemed as impossible with support for the game being dead.

But now that it's back, could it happen?

Now for me personally I still prefer playing these games on PC, but always found it bizarre how this is the only game that didn't seem important enough to be ported to console and I'd like the game to be finally treated as an equal to the rest of them.

Thoughts?

You can pick any hairstyle for any character

Step 1: Pick the character you want to use a base.

Step 2: Join a multiplayer lobby and play a full match.

Step 3: After returning from the investigation, and while staying in the same lobby, go to the customization tab and you should be able to equip any hairstyle on your chosen character.

Notes: If you change your character you have to start the process again, if you go back to single player your hair stays but you won't be able to change it, only the default will be available. You can equip any other customization item and it'll continue to work.

World Cup teams as AoEII civs

I'm not really into football, however today I briefly watched the final part of the Norway - Brazil game and after seeing the "Viking" celebration I just thought "How about representing each World Cup country with AoE civs? With 53 civ that should've been an easy task... Well turns out there're still large areas that are simply not represented, so I had to get creative... my knowledge of history and geography is very limited, so if you consider that a country would've been better represented by another civ, let me know so I can fix it.

At one point I considered using the AoE3 revolutions for The USA, Canada, Haiti and South Africa. However the style of AoE3 icons doesn't fit the AoE2 style, and we'd still have Australia and New Zealand without representation + it'd just be inconsistent to have the USA and Canada represented by AoE3 revolutions while Mexico is represented by the Aztecs instead of AoE3 Mexicans. So for the sake of consistency I decided to limit myself to only AoE2 civs.

I'll try to explain my logic as to why I chose the civs I chose.

Starting with North America, there's no proper representation in the game, the only time NA civs appear is as the Skraelings, however their representation is inconsistent, being played by Celts in Vinlandsaga and by the Incas in Karselfni, none of which are good options, so in the end only viable choice I could think of was going with Britons for the USA and Franks for Canada.

Moving onto the Caribbean islands we encounter the same issues, however for Haiti it didn't feel right to represent them with Franks, since Haitian culture is more heavily inspired by Africa than Europe, closest appearance in a campaign are the Maroons on Drake, who are played by the Malians, so I went with them. For Curaçao after a quick research I found out their main native civ would've been the Arawaks who are only briefly referenced on Drake. While the Tupi aren't really related to them I felt they were the closest ones in terms of culture and technology.

In central and South America, while the Muisca were limited to a small area of Colombia that's really close to Panama, turns out the Panamanian natives were also part of the chibcha linguistic family, like the Musiva so I went with them.

The same logic was applied for Uruguay and Paraguay, while the Guarani and Tupi are the same, they still share the Tupi-Guarani language family. Lastly for Ecuador, while the Incas are most often associated with Peru, their empire extended through Ecuador and reached South Colombia so I went with them for Ecuador instead of the Muisca.

Now for Europe while it's the most densely populated area in the game there were still a couple of ones that required a bit of thinking. For Scotland I went with Celts because that's how they're represented in campaigns. God Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland I went with Teutons, while they're mostly associated with Germany I went with the Holy Roman Empire as the base here, and the previously mentioned countries were all part of it. For Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina I was debating whether to count them as Byzantines or Slavs, in the end I chose to go with the Slavs.

For North Africa and the Middle East, all the North African countries except for Egypt were given to the Berbers while the countries of the Arabian peninsula were given to the Saracens. For Egypt at one point I considered representing them with the RoR Egyptians since the RoR icon style matches up with base AoE2 but in the end decided to limit myself to main AoE2 so went with Saracens who play them in Saladin 1.

For Subsaharian Africa since there were only 2 civs I divided everything between the 2, with Western Africa being all Malian and then the remaining Congo and South Africa given to the Ethiopians because there were just no other options and the Malians were already overused.

Lastly for Australia and New Zealand, imo the Malay are the closest thing we have to an Oceania civ so k picked them.

And that's all, as I said before I'm not really into football, but this was a fun thing to make. Let me know if you agree or disagree with my picks.
