The Group Chat 2nd Draft (Comedy/Drama, 8pgs.)

Just finished my second draft of this script for my Directing Class. I appreciate all the feedback I got from you guys last time. My professor and classmates gave me some notes regarding the ending and some of the dialogue, so I tried my best to address and would appreciate any and all feedback on the current version of the script.

Title: The Group Chat

Format: Short Film

Page Length: 8 pgs.

Genre: Comedy, Drama

Logline: A young man spirals after discovering his friends have a secret group chat without him.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/18B17uc08lh-4X-nhUZpN1FM-QfQ5NlP8/view?usp=drivesdk

Feedback concerns: Does the tone feel consistent? Does the story/dialogue flow well and make sense? Is it structured well?

Thanks!

Scared to make a film “too personal”

I’m in my final semester of film school, working on my final short film for the Directing class. At the end of the semester, everyone in the class has their film shown at a show case at the school where family, friends, and any other students that want to attend can go to.

I’ve been struggling with ideas, but finally came up with one that’s very, very personal to me, especially right now. I’ve been really struggling mentally lately and feeling isolated, and I want to express something that is really affecting me in my work.

The problem is that nobody else really knows and I’m not sure I want them to know. I know that sounds dumb, but I feel like family (who already know about the showcase and are definitely going) and peers are going to look at me differently and walk on egg shells around me after watching it, which I really don’t want. It’s a story I want to tell, but I’m scared of showing that side of myself because that can’t be undone.

If anyone has ever been in a similar position, I’d love some advice. Thanks!

Looking to get braids- need some advice

I’ve had this same hairstyle since middle school and haven’t really done much or changed it up since then. I was thinking of getting cornrows or box braids to mix it up, but am looking for advice on what specific style you think would look the best (was thinking something like the third slide). Thanks!

Advice for a 20M in San Antonio

I’ve lived in San Antonio my whole life but never really explored that much or did anything adventurous or new. Not completely sure why, I guess my family was just never interested in that kind of stuff so I didn’t think twice about it, but as I’ve gotten older, I’m starting to realize that people who have only lived here for 5 years have explored the city significantly more than I have and I want that to change.

I don’t have a super defined direction right now for how I wanna go about this, but I just know I want to get out and explore the city more. I don’t want to only ever go to two places (work and home) I want to try new things, see new areas, and hopefully meet new people.

Some things I’m interested in are movies, anime, photography, and art. I would appreciate any advice on where I should go or what I should do in San Antonio (doesn’t necessarily have to be related to those interests). I’d also like to make some new friends, which I’m not great at, but it would be nice to hang out with some people on weekends again, especially since I’m not in contact with many people from my high school anymore.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Any advice for a non-degree seeking student trying to take a specific class?

TLDR: Is there any way I can get into a “major only” class as a non-degree seeking/transient student?

So I’m entering my third and final year at Northwest Vista, and I also recently took up a full time position at my job, so I’ll be working 9-5 Mondays-Friday from now on. When I start back up in the fall, my only class at Vista will take place after work hours.

Now for the problem. I want to enroll in one more class: Photography. There’s two reasons for this: 1) I’m interested in learning more about it and meeting like minded people in class 2) I can maintain my VA benefits by taking two classes in a semester.

As I mentioned before, now that I’ve gone full time at work, my class schedule is limited to classes that can happen outside of work. Unfortunately, there’s no options for a photography class after work hours at Vista, so I decided to concurrently apply to UTSA as they have a class at 7pm that would fit perfectly in my schedule.

I spent the last few weeks jumping over so may hurdles to apply, tracking down OLD OLD documents and all this tedious stuff, only to find out when I tried to schedule the class after being accepted, that it’s for MAJORS ONLY.

Is there anything I can do about this? I really want to take that specific class, and I can only do it at UTSA. I hate online classes and the isolation of those, so that’s not an option. Is there anything I can do as a non-degree seeking student to get into that class? It also sucks cuz the application process was so annoying and there were so many problems as I was doing it just for this to happen.
