Day 50 for our autos.

Decided to yank a plant to give one of them more room, still need to mess with some probably do it Saturday and going to do a nice defoliation, did a lot of work under the nets today again let them recover a bit then go through the tops of them. Both of these are taking up about 16-20sf each completely over taken the smaller mad one (our fault not the plants or genetics , first time with this system roots clogged our 2in lines 🤣. Fixed it now next run putting filters on the side of the buckets the pump pulls from. Did our first drain, flush, run for a few hours, drain again and refilled with nutrient water. Total water waste is now up to 75 gallons for the entire run and 45 of that was 1/4 strength from when we dumped the starter totes. Overall pretty happy and working out the quirks of RDWC vs gravity fed dwc. Next run instead of trying to fit 8 autos in there we are going to do 4 or 6. Both nets are 4.25ft * 10ft.

How's my plants doing so far this season?

Started the big one last June, the small one is one of the first cuts from the big one that I took this spring

Quick update on the 8-site RDWC auto run (well 1/2 of it anyway lol)

Today is Day 38 from seed (they were only 10 days old on July 4th). It's crazy how much they've filled in over the last 10 days. The canopy is finally coming together and they're just starting to stretch into flower.

Current environment:

🌡️ 81-83°F

💧 65-70% RH

💨 Ambient CO₂ (roughly 380-650 ppm)

💦 Water temps holding steady at 68-70°F

💡 24/0 lighting

🔆 Front: 800W ProTerps at 65% (~650-700 PPFD)

🔆 Rear: 1000W Evo fixtures at 50% (~500 PPFD) for the smaller plants on the other side of the room, they are both on the same controller channel next week they'll be going up to 65% power and 650-700ppfd as well. (We set them based off intensity with our meter, we don't change the hang heights, the 1000s are about 6in higher than the 800's, there's fans and filters and other stuff on the way I need to take care of so I can raise the 800s a little more but it's fine for now)

🌬️ Four wall fans, 3x on speed 3, the one on the floor on speed 1, exhaust running between speeds 4-8 depending on outside conditions.

They're drinking about 10-15 gallons every 24-36 hours between all 8 plants now. Chiller set 67°f, and our current EC is 1.4 w/ a pH of 5.8-6.2

Swipe through the pictures to see the progression from July 23rd to August 1st.

These are dream beans space time and money maker from afa front right, back right is dream beans citrus explosion, and wave runner from afa. All of them are autos and not even 40 days from seed yet. People who hate on autos or say they can't grow big just can't grow them.

Spacetime, Alien Pie, and Citrus Explosion doing their thing.

Gonna through almost a 30 gallon reservoir sense Sunday night (it's now Tuesday night). Almost 10 gallons a day between 8 plants. 32 days from seed.

5 Dream Beans

Growing alien pie, gloo master flex, citrus explosion, spacetime f2, and grapes and garlic, then a couple others from somewhere else. Everybody coming along just fine got the second nets in most of the way today, probably won't check on them again till Tuesday or Wednesday all but 2 of them should make it to the second net by then I think.

Alien Pie kick ass at day 28

This one is another level, if y'all ain't growing one you're missing out definitely recommend 😜

Back at it again today

Today's adventures are done, back up tomorrow to mess with it some more. Everything is on cruise control though. Day 28 today for the bigger ones 26 for the small ones and 27 for one of the bigger 5 I don't remember which one was which. Running 8 autos from 2 different breeders

Day 24 from seed 😜

Money Maker & Space Time F2 Autos.

Started stringing up the SCROG today but ran out of string after rearranging the room during the last reset. 🤦‍♂️ Hopefully I'll get it finished tomorrow before they really take off, just going to buy some more string.

8 site RDWC under an 800W ProTerp LED running 55% at 40" from the canopy, putting them around 400-450 PPFD.

Current environment:

• Water: 68°F

• Air: 80-82°F

• RH: 65%

• Leaf VPD: ~1.1

Feeding Kosher Grow silica, base, and grow powders, GH CaliMagic, and Diamond Nectar + HOC to keep it steril. Everything is at about half strength right now except the HOCl. Once they pull the buckets down to the level of the 2" return lines, I'll connect the top off reservoir and it'll begin feeding full strength nutrients automatically. They'll go through about 15 gallons in about 4 days at this point so that's what we'll mix. In another week we'll start mixing 45-50 gallons at a time and that'll take us 6-7 days. In another 3 weeks it'll only be lasting 3 days if we're lucky.

I try to minimize nutrient waste. I don't do scheduled flushes or weekly reservoir dumps. Unless something goes wrong, I let the plants use the solution. So far this run we've only wasted about 25 gallons, almost all of it from moving them out of the starter totes. Hoping to finish the entire 8 plant grow with under 75 gallons of nutrient waste.

Unless I have an actual problem that requires correcting as a last resort, I try to avoid dumping nutrients. Sometimes when switching completely over to bloom nutrients I'll let the buckets run low, drain the small amount that's left, and refill. Other runs I don't even bother if everything is stable.

The goal is simply to waste as little nutrient solution as possible.

Day 24 from seed for your viewing pleasure 😁

Money maker and space time f2, started stringing up the net today, ran out of string and couldn't find my other rolls after rearranging a bunch of stuff this past reset, so will likely finish it tomorrow or the next day, the sooner the better lol. Growing in RDWC, under an 800w ProTerp at 40in from the canopy 55% power 400-450 PPFD. Currently running about 68° water temps, 80-82° air temps, 65% humidity right about 1.1vpd going off the leaf temps. Being fed koshergrow silica, general hydroponics calimagic, kosher grow base and grow powders, general hydroponics diamond nectar, and hoci everything 1/2 strength currently except the HOCI it's at maintaince strength, the res is getting hooked up though tomorrow and it will start topping off the control bucket with full strength just waiting for the plants to suck them down to the 2in tube to hook up the res. We don't do flushes unless there is an issue or sometimes when switching over to full bloom nutrients maybe we'll let them suck the totes down most of the way then drain them the rest and refill, some grows we do, some we don't. We try not to unless there is an issue and it's a last resort, the goal is always minimum waste down the drain, try to have less than 100 gallons of nutrients water waste the entire grow (8 plants), so far this grow we are at about 25 gallons of waste but almost all of that is from when we dumped the starter totes and moved them to their individual buckets and they were only getting 1/4-1/2 strength. If we don't mess up a barrel when we're mixing and everything goes to plan we will have less than 75 gallons of nutrients water waste maybe less than 65 if everything goes perfect and all we have to drain is what's left in the system when the last plant comes out.

Every body is in their final buckets finally at day 22.

Finally done messing with it besides stringing the net and adjust the lower fan in the back so it doesn't run into the scrog frame chopped some height off it completely forgot that damn fan was there oops. Couple other small things left to do, but nothing to time consuming or that requires much thought. Think this is the cleanest this room has ever been as far as tubing and hoses ran all over the place. Think I'm really going to like the upgrade from gravity fed dwc, to RDWC w/ a chiller I can't remember the last time we had water temps under 75-78°f....probably when we were swapping frozen water bottles for a little bit , but only did that 1 cycle like 2 or 3 years ago then decided the hell with it and just been running warm until now. Super excited for this grow water temps are really the only bottleneck we had left in the system and that's now been corrected.

Rubber plants loving life minus a little hail dammage

Thankfully they are still being shaped so none of the leaves that have damage will likely be there next season. Was at work and had a storm come out of nowhere and no way to get them inside, that's ok though still nice and happy healthy plants. Trying to figure out if I have enough time left before having to bring them in, in October to be able to clip the tops again and get new growth one more time and maybe double up the branches or close to it and have 2-3 new leafs before the cold months.

Day 20 from germination. Tomorrow they go in their individual buckets.

Did some final leak testing today and got it all squared away. Chiller is hooked up and ready to go. Should be a pretty phenomenal run. Probably go ahead and string up the scrog net also. These 8 autos are currently under an 800W ProTerp at 45% power or so putting down 300-350ppfd at the tops of the plants about 48in+ off the canopy.

Starting to get the rdwc setup out in 🙃

Still have a little more to do yet but got most of it done this afternoon. Not the prettiest or most expensive but it'll do just fine 😁, the starter totes will come out and 2 more grey ones will go there in another week and a half or so.
