My gyno’s smallest speculum

Hey everyone,

I love my gyno, she’s an angel. She prescribed a self test for HPV and gave me the stuff for it. I’ve already done a pap smear with her, not a self test, and it was negative. The difficulty with insertion fluctuates and at the moment it’s too difficult.

I also asked for a small speculum since that was an option, just to have a choice for the future. I checked with her this is the smallest one she has and she believes it’s “not that big”. I’m a bit taken aback as I’ve heard on this group there are small ones for children. Am I right in thinking there are smaller speculums than this in existence?

Ruler for scale, it’s in centimeters.

Thank you!

Envoi dossier MDPH

Bonjour,

Merci beaucoup !

Writing down my ERP wins as I go!

I’m trying to make ERP less monotonous by using colors. Writing it down really helps with the anxiety and the difficulty to resist compulsions. It reminds me I’m doing all this to reclaim my life and improve my overall long term wellbeing.

Resources to explain OCD recovery to loved ones?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been on the path to OCD recovery for a while. I’m a therapist in training (CBT) and only a year away from being licensed so I understand ERP very well.

He’s extremely sweet, loving and supportive. In his desire to soothe me, he doesn’t always remember that reassurance is counterproductive for OCD specifically. I’ve tried to explain the mechanisms of OCD recovery to my boyfriend, for the most part I think he gets it. I draw on the knowledge of conditioning and association he has from training many dogs. Maybe I need to draw on this a bit more and use metaphors? .

I rarely express a specific fear out loud (except to my therapist), as I feel that gives the fear more weight. I’ve also wasted time trying to work on each theme too seperately and not had overall good results: one theme would get better with ERP and a new theme would emerge as i would just start doing different compulsions… therefore, I work on OCD as a whole with my therapist. Usually I will say to myself “this is OCD, don’t waste time arguing with it, this question is impossible to answer, I’m going back to doing what’s important to me etc”. Most often, I will tell my bf “OCD is really hard today” or “I’m ruminating so I’m going to use xyz skill” or “I’m doing an exposure today for my recovery” so I don’t go into specifics usually.

On the \*rare\* occasion I specify the topic or the fear to my bf, he will immediately reassure me. Let me be clear I do not ask for this reassurance at all and try my best not to use it in my head to fuel any rumination. I tell myself “he is wanting to reassure me to support me but I’m not going to take the idea on board, I know I’m in an OCD loop”. I don’t hold it against him as it’s a natural impulse to want to reassure a loved one. I totally understand it can be counter intuitive to not soothe the person you love by way of reassurance. I don’t expect my bf to take responsibility for my recovery but we are naturally an important part of each other’s support system.

Are there any resources you’ve found useful for explaining why reassurance is counterproductive in the long run, how ERP works, or OCD recovery in general? I do really like ocdrebeltherapist on instagram and might show him some videos of hers. Thank you so much!

Put up some post-it notes with useful phrases

Inspired by “ocd rebel therapist” on instagram :) I want to make a big poster at some point with fun colors and stickers but these post-its are what I had on hand so I just used what I had! I placed them near where I tend to sit a lot and ruminate. Do you have useful phrases you like?

System for logging pain?

Hi everyone,

For those of you who have chronic pain, would you be open to sharing how you log it? At the moment I write it down in a calendar type structure, but it fluctuates during the day according to activities. I want to analyse the contributing factors a bit better so I’d like to factor in changes during the day. My current setup doesn’t really allow for enough space. Any tips? Thank you!

Had a happy dream about a big black dog

I was walking around when I saw a cute dog by himself. He was very friendly immediately and throughout. I hung out with him, and brought him back to my house where I had roommates.

He didn’t have a collar at first I think but then when I was home he had a red collar. There was a piece of paper attached to the collar (the ones in the plastic capsules that allow you to roll a piece of paper inside). It was an A4 piece of paper with a lot of informations and means to contact the owners, a couple. Some parts of the phone number were rubbed off. I tried to find them on social media. Then finally I remembered since they’re in Switzerland, I need the area code, which was 32 in my dream.

I ended up video calling the owners and thought they would be so happy I found the dog. They did seem happy and we had burgers together. However, they said sheepishly “well… he lets you put on his raincoat and he sits for you, whereas he’s difficult with us… so maybe you can keep him”. I told my boyfriend on the phone excitedly that maybe I could keep him. I think it felt special that the dog was so calm and affectionate with me. I weighed it up and did decide to keep the dog. I became friends with the owners, who were really nice.

It was comforting to be around the dog. When I woke up I missed the dog.

Whenever I have a dream involving a cat or dog, the animal is always black. In real life I do like black cats and dogs but my animals aren’t black.

Any ideas about what this may mean? It felt significant.

What do you wish you knew at the start of your career?

Hi,

Therapist in training.

I’m wondering what you wish you knew just before getting you license / when you were just starting professionally?

Weird dreams with Deep Sleep massage bar?

Hey everyone, I’ve used the bar before and can’t remember if it did this.

I picked it up a few days ago and I’ve been having the most vivid and weird dreams with complex storylines.

It could be a total coincidence or due to something else, but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this?

Gentlest shower gels / soaps for 2 daily showers?

Hi everyone,

It’s currently really hot where I live so I take 2 showers a day. However, my skin is on the dry side so I want to be careful. I use Dirty Springwash as I’ve found the glycerin really hydrating while still being refreshing, and also Sleepy as it’s gentle / relaxing.

What other options would you recommend? Thank you!

An artisanal soap shop?

I love the smell of all these soap scents combining. They tend to have a huge array but it ends up smells like straight up soap overall, kind of like how flower shops tend to smell very similar. It’s very simple but so comforting and just smells clean and fresh but still a little “natural” and close to the natural scent of rose, verbena, honey, orange flower etc. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Colonia by Acqua Di Parma is the closest I’ve smelled to this, and I don’t enjoy Blanche by Byredo as it smells specifically like laundry detergent, which is very different. I tend to love citrus and white florals, soapy orange blossom in particular. Thank you very much :)

Hi! I think I remember this was mentioned but when I went to the lush.scents “discon” highlight on instagram I didn’t see it. Did I just hallucinate this? I hope so lol

Thank you!!
