A fan with the restored Galileo Shuttle and Bill Shatner - Trekconderoga Weekend

Not sure who Bill Capes is, but apparently he has the pull to get a picture of himself and Shatner in front of the Galileo Shuttle during this past Trekonderoga weekend.

Mere mortals can attend the official opening in September. George Takei will be making a rare East coast appearance. TNG’s Brent Spiner will also be a guest.

Bill was Bill on the Bridge Chat I attended on Saturday. Entertaining and engaging as always. 🖖

Shatner in Niles Illinois - 1970’s?

I searched for when he appeared, but it seems like there are various answers.

Anyone from Niles Illinois remember the year that Captain Kirk beamed down to this Toys R Us store?

18K for a brass model?

Saw this on Facebook Marketplace. It looks amazing. But is the price insane? Engage!

135 pounds down!

Yes, these were made with AI, as I do not have access to the Enterprise NCC-1701.

My wife and I will be visiting the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour in Ticonderoga, NY later this month.

William Shatner will be there, and I will be having a “Bridge Chat” with the one and only Captain James Tiberius Kirk.

Jokes aside, I recently had a hard fall which resulted in a non displaced fracture of my left greater trochanter (femur).

I went to an ER who took CT Scans with contrast and they advised me it would heal in 6-8 weeks.

My wife suggested that I see her doctor who replaced her hip not long ago.

He took an MRI and said I needed a pin inserted to stabilize the bone.

This was done, and I am well along the road to recovery.

My word of caution to those who lose a significant amount of weight on Zepbound is to not to walk like you are a twenty something again. Also, get flat sneakers instead of the soft raised heel found on many slip on sneakers.

I was walking fast in a supermarket that had highly polished hard flooring. One sneaker just acted like a suction cup and planted that leg like it was glued to the floor. Down I went.

This type of sneaker (I found out after the fall) has been implicated in similar falls that result in bone fractures.

Dr. McCoy and his medical tricorder will not be available for another two centuries. 🖖

Sparkles in TOS men’s’ uniform pants - ok or nah?

I got these TOS men’s uniform pants on Cosermart (lower right picture).

I thought my wife had ordered these, as they had bright white sparkles embedded. They have already approved an RMA, but I discovered that these “sparkle pants” were actually used on some TOS shows.

Would you wear these at the 60th Anniversary of Star Trek in Ticonderoga, or return them for plain black. They cost $40, and other places want $120 for the same item.

Not sure if I order other pants that they will get to me in time - we will be there 6/24 - 6/29.

My wife was diagnosed with duodenal cancer in February, 2025.

The doctor advised a “Whipple procedure” in order to remove the growth. This is an extensive surgery but has high rates of success.

The surgery was completed, and was followed with 6 months of chemotherapy to reduce the chances for a reoccurrence.

A month ago, my wife awoke with excruciating stomach pain. Apparently scar tissue from the initial surgery had blocked her small intestine.

She was advised to return to the hospital where the Whipple procedure was done.

They removed 10 inches of the small intestine and reconnected it.

She has gone through so much this past year, and yet, like so many other cancer patients who have “rung the bell” (completed chemotherapy with no signs of cancer), has had complications post surgery.

The link below is on Facebook. If you don’t have an account, please donate directly to the ACS during this month, to help others in their fight against this disease.

Seems like a good beginners piano. I bought the Faber books (recommended by this sub), as well as a used iPad M1 to use the Simply Piano app.

The only downside is the height of the keyboard. I am 6’ 1” and I think I am going to have to add some length to the stand.

I also have my wife’s beginning piano books from the 1960’s, and will see what they have to offer.

I don’t read music, so learning that, and correct posture and hand position are my focus. Ultimate goal is to play Scott Joplin rags. I mentioned this to a friend and he said they are very difficult.

I knew that, but will keep moving towards this goal.
