What do you guys use at the pier to hold your rod to walk away
I hope theres something that prevents the rod from going in during a big strike . Something that can clamp to the pier rail.

I currently plan on going five miles out into the bay.
Likely some five to fifteen mile islandhops
3-4 passengers on occasion and mostly solo duo fishing and exploring
Do you think the cruising speed is too low? And should I aim for a 90 or 115hp instead for first boat?
People we're telling me their woes on how they haven't caught a keeper in 6 days or several days. I befriended a kayaker and he hooked me up w the 411 and let me use his gear and live bait! I caught one in 20 min and we both celebrated loudly :)
Reglazing gotbquoted $600 / window lol
I can buy provia Aspects for around $160 each for smaller sliders and up.
Gemini said I just need to do a sweeping hook set instead of a short snap hook set to counter the parabolic bend of the swim rod.
Essentially, you can mix and match rods for different tasks as long as you know what you're working with right?
Can i drop shot 1/16 on 2/0 dropshot or ned hook and attempt to catch many species on a robo worm and wacky setup day? Its hot here. Lots of weeds near banks.
I have a frog that turns into a swim lure after every squeeze, too.
Im hoping the popper or zara spook can replace the frog but alas, i must learn this dang frog eventually
I love me some sunfish. Can you help me id this?
(Ive sonce learned I shouldn't lay fish on bad surfaces, or dry. Best to have them in water by net or in air)
Edit: green sunfish! Is it a male or female?
Chronarch mgl 151 bait caster
After pressing the thumb bar, I have to manually roll the spool back with my thumb about an inch or two before it will begin to free flow. (It casts fantastically and reels in smoother w the new bearings- after rolling spool back to release).
It stays locked as if the release bar was not pressed.
I have replaced 2 bearings. (When I said theres "no bearings to orientate", i meant no balls showing
I put notes on the photos.
I usually bank fish or am on a boat/belly boat.
Do you have recommendations for safely measuring fish without ruining slime?
I was thinking roll out tape that is 7-10" wide for them to be laid on (after wetting)
I'm sure they are always going to flop. How do you like to deal with this?
I was considering getting some dunking solution to carry on the boat. Do you think it makes a huge difference for the survivability, especially if they flop onto carpet or hard surfaces?
Edit: Unhooking Mat looks magnifico for the task
I want to hunt PB Bluegigi and other local varieties.
Does it feel better when you eat them or when you release them?
(I think it's a Green Sunfish. Shouldn't be hard to beat but too small to eat. It's my first and current PB)
Edit: how do you measure them more safely without damaging their slime.
Edit: i started freshwater fishing a few weeks ago and this picture is from before I realized it was bad to put fish on the ground. I have a wide roll out tape coming to help. I'll wet it first. (I even wanted to go as far as having the dunking solution ready)
Edit: Unhooking Mat is otw. Looks magnificent for the task.
Legalis lt1000s on Sensilite 5'6
Grub on #2 circle hook
He looked so upset!
I have an extra spool for the Aldebaran
I have a 6'3 phenix classic coming for this reel.
I have a lot of standard bass tackle and little bit of BFS stuff.
Let me know what line you recommend. Google says braided is the new way to do it. (Especially with b f s casting reel?)
First, they have uncancellable orders, even RIGHT after placing the order. " Ohh, we have to wait for the order to be created. Oh, the order was created we can't cancel it."
I had ordered 6 rods. 1 shows up broken.
They send RMA for the rod I cancelled but as the RMA for broken incorrect rod (usps sent them briken photos).
It's been 5 days and i repeat myself over and over and over again. They can't figure out there's two items to be returned one is broken one is not.
I'm about to return them all cause, I don't want to be thinking about this when i'm fishing.
Edit: 2 rods broken, of 7. I don't think it's worth the gamble when ordering from GSM Outdoors. If they are not broken upon arrival, the rods may break in the next few years. Imagine losing a fish to a broken rod from this order.
I wanted to go just over what I needed but I think I can afford to take some off and rely on using Leaders
On Sensilite to match other OP's first setup recommended by you guys. Can't wait to try it!
I got 6lb Sufix Resolve Braided on it. I guess 4lb fluoro leader will do it? I'm doing panfish and occasional bass (I'm sure I'll catch lots of species).
I'll bring a net
Claude says 8lb JDM braided to a leader for panfish and bass.
Google says 4-6lb mono. A lot of UL posts have people who swear by 4lb mono and have caught 10lb bass on it...
What times in the day and what time of the year do you like throwing this setup?
What do you aim for when casting?
I was just thinking about Dottie and was wondering, "Was she actually an eight pounder that ate two pounds of fish when it was weighed?"
So in tournaments, whatever the fish weighs is what is recorded--regardless of if it's eaten recently?
EDIT: Looks like I'm looking for a constipated 2 pounder to try and get a 5lb PB.
So, when are they most constipated?
Aldebaran BFS. Lookingnto put 8lb Fluoro Lead to equal Braided line in something nice.
The recommendation is to fill only 35-40 yrds? Does this sound accurate? 120' sounds like if I get hung up once bad, I might respool completely.
Also, is mono backing not wanted in bfs scenario so as not to weigh down the spool?
The main reason for 8lb is so I can switch between 6'3" and 7' and stay in the line recommendations for both. (I'll eventually get another spool to go UL)
