Riga Latvia marathon has a section called song alley where a massive traditional choir sing their songs of independence.

Genuinely the coolest experience of any marathon I’ve done, the marathon passes the choir and dancers twice, one is probably around mile 10 or so, then the second time while you are in the pain cave after 20 miles or so.

Almost everyone had fun running and cheering the first go by but almost everyone runner was silent the second pass through, it genuinely gave me chills and made me tear up.

Latvia has such a rich history of independence and song was a huge part of their cultural preservation. Highly recommend Riga next spring, it’s a fast course as well.

Running the Riga marathon and 3 weeks in Europe.

Pretty stoked on my onebag trip, I’m heading to Riga Latvia tomorrow from America. The trip will start with a marathon in Riga then heading south to Lithuania/Poland to get some mountains in zakopane, then a quick stop in London on my way home.

The tough part for this pack was getting all my running gear in especially my race shoes. Luckily my race shoes are ready for retirement after this race so I’ll chuck them post race. that’ll free up a bunch of space for souvenirs and what not gained from the trip.

I’m using an osprey 40L and bringing my running vest for some hut to hut trail running in the tatras.

Think I over packed undies and socks, but it fits.

My favorite piece of gear are my mount to coast H1s. I’ll be wearing for the whole trip besides the race, they are running shoes that are made for road and trail. They’ll be my walking, running, hiking, and clubbing shoes.

Shake out run for the Riga marathon

Hey y’all, I’m an American coming to Latvia for the marathon, I love the running community and would love to meet some fellow runners during race week.

I’ve been following riga run club and the marathon on instagram but haven’t seen any post for a shake out run the day before the race. If anyone knows of one that would be awesome.

Send me a DM if you’re running also, if there is no official shake out run maybe we can make our own or plan a pasta/potato party!

Super stoked! Looks like fun flat course!

I’m shooting for a 3:30 finish time if anyone wants to match pace

I’m hosting the Trail running film festival here in Eugene with Silenus run club!

I’m super stoked to be hosting this event with Silenus run club. Locally sponsored by Eugene running company! Come spend a night watching short films about bad ass runners tackling some amazing trails. July 12th at the art house 6pm, one night only, tickets are limited, so buy a ticket soon!

There will be a morning trail run also, currently working with the Eugene parks foundation to lock down a meeting spot and what section of the ridgeline we will do. It’ll include an opportunity to demo some brooks trail shoes.

The raffle prizes already look amazing including a pair of brooks trail runners!

If you are a local business owner and are interested in being involved we would love to chat, besides brooks we are trying to make all our sponsors be local companies and organizations.
