For the moms who have breast fed for years

When did you know it was time to stop?

My baby is only 9 months and I plan to go for two years minimum. I see on social media people celebrating being done, but when I think about being done I get so sad lol.

Will i eventually grow tired of breast feeding and want to be done? Is then when I should stop? Or should I just go for as long as me and baby want?

Moms with old fashioned parents/ family

Tell me something you’ve done that your parents, in-laws, or anyone else has said “oh you can’t do that blah blah blah” that truly shocked you!

Mine is that my mother in law said I can’t get a specific shirt for my daughters first birthday because it had primary colors and primary colors are for boys only 😂😂😂

I hate my MIL high chair

Backstory To preface I have a great MIL. I love her and we get along great. Me and my husbands lease ended and the apartment we were supposed to move into has mold and we are staying at his parents house for an indefinite amount of time. My baby is nine months and well into the food journey, and since day one of feeding her I have hated my mother in laws high chair.

It’s the high chair she used for her boys 37 years ago and she saved it. It’s an old Cosco folding high chair with a cute bear print. It’s cute but it’s old. The plastic on it is so yellowed and the metal seems rusty. There is no rust to the naked eye, but when you move the legs you can tell it needs oiled. The straps are these tiny little three point straps that don’t go over the shoulders. The tiny little strap is the only part holding her in place because it doesn’t have a built in piece between her legs. Because of this you can’t leave her in the high chair with the tray of at all because she can and will wiggle out. So cleaning her and it is always so hard. The tray also weighs a ton and so does the chair.

I have brought this up to her numerous times politely and she believes that the chair is okay and safe and it’s what she wants to use in her house.

My husband and father in law agree with me, but they are willing to pick this battle with her. So it’s me versus her.

Should I just leave it alone and use it while living with her? I gave into before because we only used it early but now I use it three times a day.

Advice?

Let down in formal wear

To my people with heavy let down, what bras do you wear with formal wear? I want to wear a strapless dress, but I’m not sure if strapless bra is unrealistic?

Had anyone worn cakes or sticky boobs? Am I asking for a disaster?

I’m a bridesmaid and need help lol

Pinching fingers

My baby is ebf and almost 8 months old. In the last three weeks she has started pinching my boobs way harder than normal. I now have tiny finger shaped bruises all over my boobs from her pinching lol.

Any advice on how to get this to stop?

Sometimes it would be easier alone

In college my plan was set in stone to where after working in a good career for a few years I would do insemination and have a baby on my own and live in a cute two bedroom home near the water somewhere.

Well I met my husband, fell in love, plans changed. I’m so grateful for my life and my family. But i am constantly fighting for every parenting decision I make with extended family. It’s also an argument, everyone says they want to help yet it always comes with consequences and expectations in return. I can’t help but think how sometimes it would be easier to do alone. A single parent away from the “village”.

I still fantasize about the little house I wanted.

Does anyone else think this?

Primary colors

Had a conversation with my mother in law about an outfit for my daughters first birthday. I found one that is super cute, the theme is one for the books. The outfit I found was a bubble onsie that has the very hungry caterpillar and very classic letters that say one for the books using primary colors.

My MIL says we can’t use that because primary colors are for boys and secondary colors are for girls 😂😂😂

The crazy thing is my mom agrees 😂

Thanks so much

I hate my play pen

I’m not sure if I just hate the stupid thing, or if it’s actually a bad product. I don’t remember the brand, it was from Amazon.

My biggest complaint is that the matress moves side to side by about 2-3 inches. Enough for my babies fit to fit. I hate it.

Play pen recs for my next baby?

Camping clothes

Does anyone have any idea what me baby should wear tent camping while co sleeping. At home in bed she wears just a long sleeve onsie because she is pushed up against me and we keep eachother warm.

I’m taking her camping next month for the first time, she will be 8 months and where we camp average nighttime temperatures are around 50-60 degrees. We will be in a tent sleeping on the ground with a foam mat under us.

After brain storming I’m thinking either a footie pajama and a 2.5 tog sleep sack, a wool sleep sack with long sleeve onesie, or a 3.5 sleep sack with a short sleeve onsie. This is what google recommends, but it doesn’t take cosleeping into equation so I’m not sure.

Egg reaction now I’m terrified

We started BLW at almost 6 months and started purrees at 5 months.

Everything was so great. She got approved for puree at five months because of her ability to sit up unassisted and interest in food. She started holding the spoon and bringing it to mouth at six when I started BLW. She loves to eat is super excited about food, grabs off the plates and brings directly to mouth.

I was making so much stuff for her. Then I introduced her first allergen, we chose mashed eggs to do first.

She ended up having a horrible reaction, we had to go to the ER. She had to go to a pediatric allergist, who said her skin was to sensitive to do a prick test, so we had to go to a lab to do a blood draw (traumatizing), and are now waiting on results.

I just realised that Since I gave her eggs tho I stopped BLW. How do I pick it back up? I’m so scared to introduce more allergens, but I know I need to. I picked up baby pouches of nut butters and peanut butter. I want to go back to BLW but I’m so nervous.

Any advice?

Plates and bowls

My baby is 7 months and we have two plates and two bowls. Idk the brand for either, they are silicone and were a gift.

My biggest complaint is the plates bend when you pick them up and set them down. I’m looking for something more sturdy and am thinking about stainless steel or porcelain with silicone cover. I was Really considering the elk and friend divided plates, but u e heard the divides aren’t tall enough to act as walls and help assist in picking up food.

I don’t have a lot of money but would rather buy the right thing first then have to buy a bunch of trial plates and bowls.

Please give recommendations!

Pregnant again?

I am almost 7 months PP and exclusively breast feed or pump.

I got my first period back around 3ish months ago and have had three normal cycles that were on time to what my period was before pregnancy.

Well my period is now three days late, but all the tests I’ve taken were negative. The timeline is right for me to be pregnant based on ovulation, but idk what’s going on.

Has anyone who exclusively breast feeds or pump had your period come back and then go away again?

Travel stroller

My and my partner choose baby products in the same way every time.

I do hours upon hours of research, come up with 3-8 options all at different price points, make an excel sheet to keep everything organized, and present it to my partner. Only strollers I like end up on the sheet, and then my partner chooses the winner after my presentation.

We did this with travel strollers last night and it came down to the bombi v2 and Zoe traveler. My partner chose the Zoe.

As my final form of research I am now asking Reddit, which do you think lol

We tried our first allergen

I saw all those videos of parents giving their infant peanut butter in hospital parking lots. I always thought it was funny, if not a slight overreaction.

I’m anaphylactic to mint and my husband is to peanuts. This means my LO is more likely to be allergic to something, but not necessarily those things.

She’s 6.5 months old and we decided to introduce eggs, the first of the big nine allergens. Three bites and she had hives all over. It was all over. Now we have an appointment scheduled with a pediatric allergist, I’m scared to give her any new foods, and worried for what her future looks like.

I hope we can grow past this 🤞🏼 I don’t need me, my daughter, my husband, and my dog all needing EpiPens

Pregnant?

I am 6 months PP and me and my husband decided to start trying again. For our first it took about 5 months before we became pregnant. In that pregnancy the very first thing I craved was limes and brats

I am a week out from starting my period, but tell me why I am eating a key lime pie and brats for lunch after I was nauseous at the thought of eating chicken.

I have zero other reason to believe I’m pregnant lol, but we will see

I cracked the code

My LO is just over 6 months.

She’s been exclusively breast milk fed, by either direct latch or pumped milk. The entire time I have been loosing weight, I’m not 15 pound below my pre pregnancy weight, which I understand isn’t everyone’s story.

Don’t get me wrong I feel blessed to be losing weight and becoming more healthy, but honestly I was also struggling a lot with eating enough and I think that isn’t a healthy way to be losing weight while breastfeeding.

I finally cracked the code to getting more nutrients and I wanted to share.

Every mid morning for the past two weeks I make myself a protein Latte. This is my first time ever having anything protein. I use a chocolate protein powder, make myself a latte as I normally would and add the powder along with a dash of Chocolate syrup and ice. Iced protein mocha.

I feel physically better, I’m less moody, and I’m not absolutely starving by lunch.

Woven wrap

Any tips to get a tighter fit for a front cross carry in the oven wrap. I got a girasol for Mother’s Day, size 6 and I love it. I was using a stretchy wrap before and always got it super tight, but I am struggling with this. I seem to get a tight fit using the poppins hip carry and a ring sling carry, but I can’t do any sort of front carry yet.

Advice is welcomed

I graduated

Well I did it. I graduated. I went to school full time, did three semester long practicums, 20 hours a week GA position, heck I had my first baby and still finished on time.

Everything I did, the moments I missed with my new born, the stress of finding halfway decent child care, the essays I wrote, interviews I conducted, none of it feels worth it.

I’ve applied to 22 jobs, leading to one phone interview that left me with so many red flags. I’ve followed up at 8 places which no response. I’ve heard back from two places saying they closed the position without hiring anyone.

Was any of it worth it?
