Looking for Good Quality Budget IEMs

Hey all. I’ve recently been looking to get myself a high quality portable music setup to replace my now broken iPod nano 4th gen after about a decade of using it. I settled on a HIFI Walker H2 for the DAP (or rather its identical counterpart, the Aigo Eros Q), so I’m moving onto looking for some IEMs that will play well with it. I already own some KZ ZSN Pros which I already enjoy using, however I wanted to see if I could find an upgrade in the £20-£30 price range (~$27-~$40).

I don’t have any particular preference for sound profile as I’m not much of an audiophile, however I do value faithfulness to the artist’s intentions when listening to music. Another thing I would really like is for the IEMs to come with a braided cable. As I mentioned before, I already own some ZSN Pros which I do like, although my own main issue with them is their plastic cable which I would much prefer to be braided. Finally, please note that I’d like this setup to last a good 5 years if possible. It was a miracle my iPod nano 4 lasted 10, but I’m not the sort to want to replace my stuff constantly, so it’d be great if I could get this setup to hold out for a decent for years too. Thanks to anyone who responds in advance

Question About HIFI Walker H2

Hey all. After a lot of research and questioning, I’ve decided to get the HIFI Walker H2 as a replacement for my broken iPod nano 4th generation and plan to use it with Rockbox. However, when I looked on the official Rockbox website, I noticed it is also sold under a different name, that being the AIGO EROS Q. Out of curiousity, I looked it up and found that it’s drastically cheaper than the Walker H2, being priced at £75 on AliExpress compared to the £115 figure of the Walker H2. Therefore, I’m posting here to see if there’s any meaningful difference between the two devices as I obviously much prefer the AIGO’s price. Feel free to mention any differences, though software matters very little to me as I’ll be installing Rockbox regardless. Thanks in advance.

Looking for a Small DAP

Hi all. I’ve recently been searching for a new music player since my iPod nano 4th generation’s battery finally gave in after nearly 10 years. I absolutely love that thing, so I’ve been carefully looking for a more modern replacement that keeps its same characteristic weight and form factor while providing some more modern features like better battery life, a better DAC, lossless format support, and so on.

The best candidates I’ve seen so far are the Snowsky Echo Nano and the regular Echo. I absolutely love the Echo Nano’s size, form factor, and weight and I’ve heard great things about its build and sound quality, but it’s poor battery life just isn’t doing it for me. The regular Echo seems adequate in battery life, but I’ve also seen the UI/UX is pretty mediocre, plus it doesn’t have Rockbox support, though those are pretty minor issues so I’m leaning towards it.

Therefore, I’ve decided to consult the wisdom of audiophiles for a high quality DAP that has preferably more than 12 hours of battery life, good sound quality, and high build quality while not costing my organs. I get that there probably isn’t a device that satisfies all of the criteria, but I’m sure there’s something that does a decent enough job. The only thing I absolutely don’t want to compromise on is battery life though price is also very important and the others obviously still matter. One final thing to note is that I absolutely detest DAPs that look like scaled down phones. I will absolutely not buy one that has that kind of form factor unless it’s absolutely godlike in every other category. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

Thockiest Magnetic Switch

Hey all. I just bought a Wooting UwU, but the Lekker L60s are certainly leaving more to be desired sound-wise. Therefore, I’m looking for a decent replacement. My main criteria is that it has minimal stem wobble (i.e. the manufacturer has tight tolerances), a smooth feel (I can lube them myself but a good factory lube would be nice), a closed bottom, and a thocky sound profile (although I’m not opposed to clack so long as it still feels smooth). So far, some switches I’ve been recommended are the Owlab Ti HEs (which seem the most promising), the Everglide Sticky Rice V2s, the GravaStar UFOs, and the Gateron Magnetic Jade Ultras. I was having some trouble choosing, so I thought I’d post here to get some advice from people who have tried a variety of magnetic switches. Thanks in advance.

Subnautica 2 with FSR 4 Using OptiScaler

Hey all. Thought I’d post here since I thought this was pretty cool. I’ve been playing the leaked copy of Subnautica 2 on CachyOS and wondered if I could get FSR 4 working, so I downloaded the latest version of OptiScaler and it worked! It looks surprisingly good for a game not natively supporting it, and it runs pretty decently as well. For those curious, the game is pretty rough around the edges with its optimisation, but it’s not as bad as I initially expected given Subnautica 2’s rocky development. It also suffers with the usual UE5 issues, but, again, it’s really not that bad. This post will probably get taken down soon enough, but I’m still gonna try posting it anyway.
