What is the best material to use to diffuse heat from upper heating elements in an oven?

My wife got a new bread oven that works great for regular bread but has issues when she’s making something large and tall. The shape of the upper heating elements (green arrow) is visible in what she is baking, in the form of a darker line. I want to get a sheet of metal and install it under the elements to help diffuse the heat more evenly.

My question is, what is the better to use, steel or aluminum? And any specific type? I’m not trying to block the heat, but help it radiate down more evenly.

Found an eastern box turtle in my pool. Where to release him in summer heat?

I have about 12 acres behind my house but it’s all hilly with no standing water or creeks. It’s been 90+ out so I’m assuming he was thirsty. Google said it’s an eastern box turtle and while they need water to drink, they don’t live in water.

My question is, do I just put him back in the woods, or should I take him to a park down the street and release him in the woods there since there is a creek and a pond there? As far as I know, there is no standing or running water within a mile of me, only pools.

Ooni Halo Pro mixer for someone who makes 15-20 loaves a week?

My wife has been making sourdough for about 6 years now. A few months ago, she started selling it occasionally to neighbors, friends, and my coworkers. She is happy with the amount she makes and is NOT interested in doing farmers market stuff or a farm stand. She prefers to just take orders and bake only what was ordered (plus for us).

Lately she’s been complaining that her little (5 or 6 quart) Kitchen Aid mixer can only do 2 1000g loaves at a time. Her birthday is coming up so I googled some mixers and now I keep getting ads for an Ooni Halo Pro. According to google, it can comfortably handle 4-5 loaves at once.

Before I pull the trigger on it, can anyone here confirm that it can do 4-5 loaves, and is good for sourdough? I just want to be sure I’m not falling for any marketing BS. And would this be a good mixer for someone who makes 15-20 loaves a week and isn’t planning on scaling up to a big stand or anything?

What dropper to buy in the $200 range?

The dropper on my Canyon failed and they don’t have any in stock so they’re giving me $200 for a new one.

What’s a decent dropper to buy? Are there any brands to stay away from or are they all pretty much the same? I don’t mind spending a little more if I have to, just not like $300.

Looking for 20” tire recommendations. Mostly green/blue single track, need something more grip.

My daughter has been riding smooth green and blue trails with my on her Woom 4 (regular, not their Off MTB). She’s on the original worn out 20x1.4 hybrid tires and I see her slipping in places now that she’s getting faster. What are some decent 2.0-2.4” tires I can get her? Doesn’t need to be anything crazy, she’s getting a 24” bike in a few months, but something that will give her more grip since she’s getting a bit faster.

Need to rebuild several 2-3’ tall retaining walls, bury some downspouts, and tear out about two dozen arborvitae. Is a 1 ton enough for me?

I have about 120’ worth of retaining walls that are falling apart and and need to be rebuilt with a proper base. 6 downspouts that I want to run about 40’ to a drainage ditch. 2 dozen dying/dead arborvitae that need to be removed.

I’ve used a 3 ton machine years ago but never tried smaller ones. Will a 1 ton be enough for what I need? Mostly digging trenches for drainage and bases for my retaining walls. I understand a bigger machine would be faster, but right now my alternative is digging by hand and after doing a 20’ long trench, I’m done with that lol

Adjusted cost basis or individual tax lots when it comes to wash sales?

I’ve always day traded in my IRA so I never cared about wash sales but a few months back I put 2k into my RH account to day trade. I’m currently up about 16k trading a single stock that has a ton of volatility.

I haven’t sold at a loss a single time yet because I will buy down my cost basis if it dips and then sell when it goes back up.

My question is, are wash sales based on cost basis or individual lots? For example:

Buy 100 shares at $21, then buy 100 shares at $17. The sell at $20. My cost basis was $19 so it’s a $200 gain.

But is that how the IRS sees it? Or do they see two separate transactions with a gain of $300 and a loss of $100? My concern is if they see these as separate transactions and consider the $100 loss as a wash sale. Sometimes I do multiple quick trades a day so at this point I’ve probably bought and sold 100k+ worth of shares to get to the 16k profit. I don’t know if my question will make sense but I want to make sure I don’t get taxed for like 30k+ worth of profit due to wash sale rules.

Why are people so scared to use the opposite side gas pump at Sam’s?

I fill up exclusively at Sam’s or Costco. My Costco has equally filled pumps. Sam’s, on the other hand, always has open right hand side pumps. I literally drove through two left side lines to two open right hand pumps. After this picture, two more cars joined the left hand lines even as they watched me easily pumping on the left side of my car from a right hand pump.

My wife was an RT for about 10 years but got extremely burned out during Covid so she quit and hasn’t worked in a hospital since. She wants to go back to work but says she doesn’t want anything to do with respiratory. It’s not what she wanted or expected and she hated how they were treated by not just management, but other hospital staff as well. She’s considering becoming a surgical tech and we’ve found that there are/were apprenticeships available through both Norton and U of L, but we can’t find any info on them for some reason. I found this posting for U of L through a 3rd party company but I don’t know if it’s outdated or even legit: https://www.gothamenterprisesltd.com/find-jobs/surgical-technologist-jobs/cmjdn7ho84lbl14egeoi6bsnx/surgical-technician-training-program-now-accepting-applications-for-our-february-2nd-cohort-in-louisville-kentucky

We moved here a few years back so she doesn’t have any connections in the medical field here. Does anyone have any info for either Norton or U of L? Or know if the posting from Gotham Enterprises is legit?

New canyon neuron with less than 50 miles. It struggled to upshift in the center gears (around gears 4 to 8) when new. But shifting in the low or high gears was perfect. I managed to adjust it to a happy medium so it up shifts and down shifts at the same speed but the shifting is often crunchy/rough, it feels like it rides on the edge of the chain for a tooth or two before dropping in. This only happens in the middle gears and does it do both up and down shifting. The low and high gears are still perfect.

I know NX isn’t the best and people say they are constantly fiddling with them. And I’m sure the SX chain doesn’t help either. Would a better chain possibly help with smoother shifting? Or is this just something I’m going to have to deal with until I pony up for a better drivetrain? Anything else I can check? I already took the wheel off and made sure nothing was loose on the cassette, derailleur, and chain ring. The chain sits nice and straight in relation to the chainring when it’s in the middle of the cassette.
