I made a tool to 3D print Moon puzzles and ornaments from real NASA data

You can spin the Moon globe or use the 2D view, pick any region, and it pulls the real NASA elevation data for that exact spot. From that it generates a printable model — circle, square or hexagon, either as a solid ornament or as a snap-fit jigsaw puzzle up to 256 pieces. You can adjust the terrain height scale, size, piece count, shape, frame and text.

I had fun building this and i am very exited to show the world now! It will be live to everyone soon. Currently it is in pre launch on makerworld crowdfunding: https://makerworld.com/en/crowdfunding/333-orbitstudio-3d-print-the-moon

If it funds i will also make it available for people that do not have a makerworld account.

Would love to hear your opinions and suggestions. The plan is to take this beyond the Moon eventually.

Mada a true scale solar system that prints without support and without AMS.

This was a fun project. All the planets and the sun is to scale. Sun would be to big to fully print. Distances are not to scale because then Neptune would need to be placed 3.5 kilometers away.

Model is available for free on makerworld: https://makerworld.com/models/3171977 ?appSharePlatform=copy

Had to print this before NASA updates their data

This is the exact spot before the spaceX rocket hit it. I Guess i will make a new one when NASA updates their data.

Model was made with: orbitstudio3d.com

Edit: Guys i did not mean for this to become a political discussion. Calm down.

I wanted to share this as an Entrepreneur for entrepeneurs because i think it could make great models to sell.

If it funds i will also make it available for people that do not have a makerworld account. But backing it will be the cheapest.

Would love to hear your opinions and suggestions. Do you think the generated models would sell?
