Shocked how well the “Binky Fairy” worked

Our 2.5 year old has been binky obsessed for as long as I can remember. Over the last year or so we got her down to only using them for sleep, but multiple times throughout the day she’d attempt to sneak it or would request it during diaper changes and get angry when we didn’t give it to her.

I assumed it was going to be an insane battle with her with lots of tears and sleepless nights to get it off of her. Especially because she can definitely be a bit stubborn sometimes.

I read about how many people had success with the Binky Fairy route. So we did just that, but we went all in. I started bringing up the binky fairy early that week to her, explaining after sleeps that the binky fairy would be by later that week to collect her binky and would exchange it for something super cool. She seemed excited but didn’t seem to fully understand.

But my wife did something super awesome, and went out to Michael’s, got a bunch of supplies, and sat down and decorated a wooden box with arts and crafts with her and referred to it as the binky box. When the time was right she’d leave her binky in the box by the front door and we’d do the swap that night.

My girl was excited by this whole process, but the end result I genuinely wasn’t anticipating. A whole day before we were planing on doing the swap, she insisted on leaving it in the box before bed and going to bed without it. We didn’t have to tell her, or nudge her at all. And that night, absolutely never asked for the binky and just went about her bedtime routine normally.

She was so excited the next morning about her gift from the binky fairy and kept playing with her binky box. We’ve now had 2 successful nights of sleep and naps with zero ask for the binky. My wife and I are floored and cannot believe how well this worked. To whoever posted it on the old threads I found about this, you’re a saint lol

Don’t think I’ve seen this posted - PC release seems highly likely now?

It’s been teased for a while through leaks. Full game SKU’s found for PC.

When did crib naps start working for you?

What age did crib naps become realistic for you? My nearly 5 month old can sleep well at night in the crib, but during the day wakes immediately if I put her in the crib. We’ve gotten 2, maybe 3 successful naps in the crib since she was born.

No matter what I do, she wakes as soon as she touches the crib. So I’ve been basically stuck only giving contact naps for her, which can be really difficult with a toddler at home, and the only break I get is when they’re both in bed at night.

Not sure how to move forward with this. Booted up the PC this morning and got sent to auto repair. No matter what I do, everything fails. Auto repair fails, can’t uninstall updates, can’t system restore. If I try to access safe mode via startup settings, it’ll just restart and go right back to auto repair. No menu for safe mode.

I tried to run repair commands but nothing seemed to happen either. And now I can’t seem to access bios either from boot. I’ll smash F2 and of DEL and I always just get sent to auto repair.

Is my only option to clean install windows? My wife uses this as her work computer and there’s tons of files that we can’t have deleted.

This post is a bit random, but I hope that it gives y’all the boost it gave me today.

Took my girls to the park today (2.5 and 4m), and was struggling with my 4m (was up for 3 hours with her last night, sleep regression fun), and as I was packing her in the stroller an older guy stopped with his dog. He said something like “great job dad, a lot of men don’t understand how tough it is for women that take care of the kids, but looks like you’ve got it figured out”.

I laughed and told him I’m actually a SAHD. I don’t usually mention it in public, not out of fear but just because I don’t care to bring it up, but I did with him. The look of acknowledgment and almost pride this guy had on his face when I said that, and his next sentence “wow, you’re doing a great job dad, that’s awesome” was one of the most randomly assuring and encouraging interactions I’ve had with someone since starting this.

It got me weirdly emotional, even with the crying 4m old in the back of the car, it was so nice to have someone just acknowledge that what we’re doing is all worth it. In a pretty thankless and tiring role, it really gave me the boost I needed mentally.

So hope y’all dads know you’re doing an awesome job, and I’m proud of what you’re all doing to help support your kids and your family.
