Just wondering about car washes.

Are there any car wash places that do both outside and inside on this side of the river? Or is that something I need to go to Portland to get done?

Thx

Watchband for Venu 4??

I'm beginning to get tired of the watchband that came with the Venu 4. The tail always seems to be to flopping around.

What do you think is a good watchband for the Venu 4? I'm 79 and about that active. :s

It's been 2 Weeks. What a wild ride.

To recap this last week, there's been a lot of improvement. From Saturday to Tuesday I did the PT exercises and very minor walking. It's seems it's easy to walk too much, then the next day languish. So I do a some then very little and rest. While I think I'm making headway in the grand scheme, it's difficult to tell.

I saw the surgeon's PA on Tuesday for the post-proceedure follow-up. They removed the bandage, and as I was informed no stitches, the stitching is all done under the skin apparently by hand. Amazing skill.

The nurse that removed the bandage said everything looked go so did the PA. I asked about giving up the recovery walker and driving and then was told that it's up to me. So the follow up appointment was short and sweet.

After the followup appointment the person driving me dropped me off at my 2nd PT appointment, of course I walked in with my cane. :s The PT therapist wanted a look at the wound also, so she was happy with what it looked like. I just wish I could be more regular about doing the recovery exercises.

The next day I went to my favorite walking park and did a lap. Yay me. I did use my CF rollator and did sit and gander at the river and mountains. It was nice to be outside after walking the halls with the recovery walker. It was another good day.

The following day I went back to the park and did more walking. I enjoy the walking so it's not like an exercise, my problem seems to be controlling myself to not do too much. A good guideline from the PT was to work on making this week 20% more than last. The last few weren't too much.

My 2-week-aversery was spent organizing and getting things straightened up around my place and back to normal. I haven't put the recovery walker away as that's how I negotiate getting around at night when the lights are low. But I cover the days with my cane and rollator. I have balance issues from other maladies, so I'm quite comfortable using my cane.

One week passed with new hip

TL;DR Good first week, some huge hurdles, some down time, but more good than bad in the end.

It's been one week and WOW what a week. A lot of good, and some very difficult hurdles to leap. But it didn't kill me, so I guess I'm better off in the long run.

As I stated before the procedure went smoothly. I was ready to leave but still needed the visits from PT & OT. PT was perfunctory but then I've been going to PreHab for 2 months and was scheduled to continue elsewhere so my attention was probably lacking. The OT visit was very helpful and the simple skill of putting on my boxers with the grabber was useful in the following week. There were other little things that I remember when I do them, she was very practical and helpful.

Then I had a couple of days were I was able to walk with the recovery walker 2500 steps, and over 3000 steps, and a night of an impacted bowel in betwixt. I won't go into the details as you can look it up and it's a memory I don't want to refresh. The DB counselor has me on Mounjaro to control my blood sugar and lower my insulin use. It works! But it slows down the gut, that's side effect Hollywood loves. Oxycodone slows down the gut too. Guess I should have used more ice and less Oxycodone. But that event has passed.

Between the two good walking days I went to the 1st PT follow-up appointment. A lot of information and some exercises to do at home. So far I'm a slacker on getting the exercises done at home, but there's today and what follows. I'll do better.

The rest of the week was mostly sleeping and getting over the cleaning out. Today I'm using one of my canes in the living area but will still be using the recovery walker for moving around outside.

Onward to just keep moving.

Oh, the compression socks aren't that bad once you get the skill built. But then I'm not one that's driven by style as a retired engineer I'm mostly into function.

And finally from the surgeon 2 rules! #1 Don't Fall. #2 Pay attention to your body. So I can pick up things from the floor, bend, stoop, flex my knees. I haven't slept in the bed yet, still in the recliner. I do lay down flat on the bed to do the exercises and I'm wondering what will happen when I sleep.

More to come.

End of day 2

If you consider day 0 the procedure day, this is the end of day 2.

I'm more mobile today, but the ache is still there.

This morning was very stiff on waking, the right leg felt like a sack of concrete was attached. So I shuffled it along and as soon I was walking left foot right foot, all within the confines of the 2 wheeled walker.

I walked 75 steps down to the end of the hall and then back to my place.

Later we went to the grocery and upon return I walked from the elevator to my apartment.

Then later in the afternoon I took a 200 step walk on this floor of this seniors apartment building.

1 - 2 - 3 the steps are adding and it's getting easier a little bit at a time.

Quite frankly the ease of the makes me very anxious.

Yes the thigh aches. Yes I'm using oxycodone but it's getting longer and longer between pills, and that's good.

Getting the damn compressing socks on is very tough, something I'd rather not do.

It's over and I'm back

I got back about hours ago. Long day and I keep drifting off. This was much easier the either knee replacement. Now ahead is just walk, walk, walk.

Took the 4th Hibiclens shower at 5 am this morning. Then finished packing the the overnight bag with the few things I would want if I wasn't going to be released today. I had about a half hour of slack time before I felt we needed to leave. We arrived at the surgery center a few minutes early.

After getting set up to lay waiting the MA came back for the 5 minute scrub, during the scrub the surgeon showed up to initial the work area. It was a lot further towards the outside of the hip than I expected. Then the IV was started to keep me hydrated. The anesthesiologist showed up and surprised me with how complete the explanation was for what he was going to do.

Soon the gurney was rolling to the OR. After I got situated on the side of surgical table the anesthesiologist gave me a little something before the spinal. I'm a big guy, and nurse acting as catcher if I fell forward was quite small. But soon another boost of relaxer then the spinal. They laid me down, and I do remember them resituating my body on the table, the next thing was anesthesiologist nudging my shoulder asking me to wake up. It's over. I missed the exciting part!

About 12:30 they started me on Oxycodone and soon I was getting antsy about hitting the road. It seemed to take a long time for the release process.

We stopped by and picked teriyaki for dinner on the way home.

Next step PT Tuesday at 2:30.

Here I go!

On the way back from PreHab PT I got a call from scheduling. I'm to be at the surgical center at 7:15 am tomorrow morning. So the wait is almost over. Today's PT was don't do any of the exercises we've been working on. Then some time on the exercises I should do after surgery. An explanation of what was going to happen after I wake.

So it's up early, 1 more Hibiclens shower, the get to the car for the trip to the center. I'm off.

What's with chatty Kathy as the voice of Gemini?

Tap the mic icon and all of a sudden Chatty Kathy tells all the wonderful things Gemini can do, that I don't want! Actually I want her to be quiet. How do I get this thing. Into brief mode?

Edit: Why doesn't my flair show? Grrr.

Well I passed review 2

Looks like all systems are go for 1 week from Friday. I do wish they could schedule a time before Thursday evening 4pm - 6pm. I'd prefer early, but I'll get what's offered.

Yesterday was the hardest day so far. I forgot to take my morning tramadol, and just assumed it had quit working for me. I was miserable all day, tried to talk my way into a stronger pain reliever -- "Sorry, not before surgery. Your going to need that after." Grrrr. Then after I crabbed and laid around all day, I saw the tramadol in the ramekin! Damn. You fool.

Now readjusted and apologetic to the surgical PA, I passed the 2nd hurdle.

10 more days.

Ok, So why'd this happen?

Here's a stumper.

I use Idagio as a source for music I like. I stream from my Pixel 10 XL Pro to a Sony Bluetooth speaker. I'm older with bad hearing so I can't distinguish very fine systems anyway, so Bluetooth speaker is just fine.

About a week ago when I'd try to open a playlist the app would stumble a bit then go to the home screen. I could select and play other things. Mostly just my playlists. But sometimes no problem. Open stream listen. But then sometimes not. I sent many support complaints to Idagio but they couldn't resolve the problem.

Now tonight, and the weekend has already started in Germany, it happened again. So I connected my Samsung S9 to the Sony speaker. Downloaded the Idagio app and started a playlist and it plays without a hitch.

Why can the old Samsung S9 open and stream the playlist but the new Google Pixel, new whenever it came out, can't open and stream the files anymore? What changed? Something changed in the Pixel environment. Hmmmm?

Well, I passed the 2nd hurdle.

I'm not an early riser but I was at the hospital before 9:00 for blood work, EKG and received a link to class. I do think they're missing the point to drive to get a link to access from home. Then an interview and instructions on what of my medicines to not take and when.

But it ended with "It looks like we good to go for July 26th."

A light at the end of the tunnel? I think so. Just 7 more PreHabs. :s

What Watch??

What the best watch to present BGs from my Pixel 10 XL pro & G7? Do I need an extra app to get the data from Dexcom app to the watch?

Thx.

EDIT:I purchased a Venu 4. Apparently I don't need a subscription to use the Dexcom connection. All I want is the current BG shown with the time.

Thx again.

Who decided to drop that crappy Glance app on my old phone? I only use this old device to play audiobooks. Having to setup that piece of crap Glance was ridiculous! Grrr.

Pedometers

Are there any good pedometers that synch with android that also aren't a watch? Since I use a walker with no wrist movement I get no steps. Grrr. So something I can pocket or attach would be great.

Elevate the chairs and recliners

What did you do to elevate your chairs or recliners? It looks like I need another 2 - 4 inches under my recliner. When the legs are extended I'm alright, but sitting and standing I think it should come up a bit.

Thx

Compression Socks.

When I had TKR years ago they wanted me to wear thigh high compression socks. Grrr. Those were terrible to put on and take off. What are they asking for THR? From the videos it looks like calf high. So are there any good videos showing putting the socks on and removing WITHOUT breaking the on 90 degree rule of torso to thigh?
