Any (technical) tips on how to start cold calling?

Asking for my own business. I sourced many leads, and I don't want to get flagged as spam. Any tools, ways to build reputation to avoid this?

Edit: Jesus does anyone know how to read? I asked a specific question and people are telling me to make calls... yeah no shit.

How much do you make *per hour*?

Coming from an adjacent in-home sales role (same day close, what folks call "high pressure" but really wasn't in my case), I've been looking for something with less travel and I'm looking at everything, from complete career change to potentially something similar.

I was commission only (1099) and if you simply divide how much I made by actual time input, it was roughly $70/hour overall (before expenses! Gas and car not reimbursed)

People like to throw global numbers, but without knowing more about number of hours worked it doesn't mean much to me. I could have easily slaved at the job, made myself available to more leads and would have made well over $200K a year, but I was better off making about half that and sustaining myself.

So, whoever doesn't mind sharing, how much do you make *per hour worked*?

Painting oak cabinets - does it diminish value?

I plan on selling in the very near future, but who really knows, it depends on the market as well as some other factors.

House is 100 years old. Kitchen was last renovated in the 90s, and has solid oak cabinets.

Don't get me wrong, I too like natural wood, but the house is very small and dated, and a splash of color, in my eyes, won't hurt in this particular situation.

My question is, would paining the cabinets hurt resell value, help it, or neither?

You guys sell houses all the time, so I'd imagine you know what buyers like and want.

Is it just me or was there better stuff on Craigslist free section up until a year ago?

I hope this doesn't come across as too entitled, because this is not a complaint. I also give away things on Craigslist from time to time.

I noticed there were just better things being given away in my area on Craigslist up until a year ago. Now it's mostly people giving away broken trash. A lot of stuff looks like people just want you hauling it to a landfill for them.

Do you find this to be the case in your area as well?

Put a mouse bait station under my car and now seeing mice inside?

I don't know if this is connected, but about 2 weeks ago I put a Tomcat poison bait station under my car (I had mice in the engine bay a long time ago, and just wanted to prevent it). It's parked outside, not in the garage.

Then two weeks later I notice mice, and so far I trapped two in the kitchen. Up until this point I absolutely doubt I had any mice at all - never saw any droppings or heard a thing.

Is this related? Am I just bringing them close to the house?

Do I cut the cord on my new in-home sales job?

I got a job with a large home reno company. Average ticket is around $20k, *supposed* to get 2-3 appointments a day, and average closing is said to be over 30% with net around 25% (after cancellations).

Commission only. Around 10% or slightly less depending on line sold. 1099 contractor, 0 benefits. My own car, my own gas, and most importantly my own time.

Did their training (no pay), made myself fully available and they barely started dropping leads. One every other day, when I'm lucky. They said they're building the pipeline and to be patient. It's been several weeks, and they have another salesman* right next to me since January (so what's taking so long?).

The leads they did give me? Let's put it this way, I'm going to a sub $200k mobile home tomorrow. Not the first one I got. My first lead was a lady with *sub-500* credit, and not a dime to her name. Every fifth lead is ok actually, but I only ever got 3 of those, so yeah... 2 of which wanted out-of-scope work that we can not accommodate.

I have now been with them for over a month in the field. No sale made. Out equipment, gas, car, time.

Is it time to pull the cord?

And if so, what the hell am I to have learned from this?

*Allegedly, this other salesman near me closes 35% (not supposed to be impressive, just mentioning what's relayed during weekly meetings). Maybe they're just giving him the good leads?

Will a mouse truly navigate back from half a mile?

I caught and released a mouse about half a mile away.

We're talking dense streets with many houses in between. Released it near a large park by some fields.

From what I read, they *could* navigate up to mile back to a source, but realistically, will they actually do this? Through several blocks of houses? In a forest, sure I can see it, but I just don't see this happening through a city with many food sources, distractions, predators such as cats, and many humans in between. Should I worry though?

Needless to say, I'm not messing with this anymore. I have Victor pedal traps now. Probably more humane than releasing in the middle of nowhere without a food source anyway.

Is this a no brainer to buy at $25?

I normally go to the gas station to inflate (free) but happened to see this while looking for something else, and looks like a pretty hefty discount (80%), so should I just buy it?

Usually $129 and now $25, so I guess they're getting rid of these or something...

Dealing with smart mice?

Last night I heard some noises from under the oven, then later from under the fridge.

I know some will have a thing or two to say about this, but all I had around were glue traps, so I put one out with a single cashew in the center.

In the morning, the cashew was eaten aside from a few crumbs. Nothing caught.

Today I got two Victor live catch traps + a few Victor pedal snap traps.

I put cashews on/in all traps.

A few hours later, cashews all gone. No mice caught!

What can I do? I want to nip this thing in the bud.

No vehicle should be allowed to be louder than is necessary in order to achieve the desired power

Essentially, any vehicle (car, motorcycle, truck) should not be allowed to be louder (by manufacturer or after market) than is necessary to achieve the desired level of power. If we have the technology to achieve X power with less noise, then any noise in excess should be prohibited.

Any additional noise should be delivered directly to the driver via speakers in their headrest or something so that they can enjoy their primitive groaning.

As far as I'm concerned, it can go up to 150 decibels right in the cabin when windows are closed.

3 delivery people for one location?

I was waiting for my pizza outside and it took a while and I witnessed 3 different delivery people come and go for a single location. Is this normal?

I've noticed that my turn signal returns to center even after very slight turns.

In addition, it's more stiff than I remember it - requires more force to engage, and doesn't feel as smooth as it uses to.

Any ideas?

I just launched a TrustPilot page and invited some of my customers to leave reviews. I know for certain at least 15 reviews were given, but only 8 are showing up, this is over 24 hours since the last review was submitted.

There's no support I can realistically reach with TrusPilot.

Is this normal? Will it just take more time for them to show up?

2017 Bolt.

A few hours ago I pressed the little button on the backdoor handle to open it, it unlocked the door, and when I opened the door the car started beeping (honking repeatedly as in an alarm, I don't even have an alarm set).

Now, I just exited the car, and the car locked the doors after I came out, I didn't press anything. Just locked itself up for some reason.

Could these two point somehow to my keyfob battery on its way out?

I travel frequently, and while I don't stay in 5-star hotels, I stay in nice enough places that run me an average of $150 a night, and quite often closer to $200.

I can probably count the number of mold free A/Cs I encountered on a single hand, using 2 fingers.

When I enter a room, I'm always met with this musty/moldy smell. It irritates my throat throughout the night. Sometimes not right away, but it always builds up.

Hotels should either have windows that open or clean the damn air conditioning (weather central or single units). Once a year should be enough.

This is a big problem, all over the country.

Take a flashlight and peak into the A/C during your next stay. Last place I stayed ($185/night) had, and I kid you not, mushrooms in there! Very well known chain, a place that's rated 4.6 stars from thousands of reviews.
