The Face of Evil: Prairie-Style!

Alison Arngrim portrayed the evil Nellie Oleson for 7 seasons (1974-82) on NBC's beloved family drama LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE. Nellie became the prototype for nasty, bratty children on television shows throughout the years. Nellie was truly a character that you loved to hate!

Christmas Memories

One of my fondest memories of Christmas when I was a kid growing up in the 1970s was listening to Christmas music from my parent's vast album collection. One of my all-time favorites was The Carpenters CHRISTMAS PORTRAIT (1978). As the youngest child of four, I always got to pick the first Christmas album that we would listen to while putting up our tree, and I would always choose The Carpenters. Today, I realize just how perfectly suited Karen's voice was for such songs as "Merry Christmas, Darling", "Silent Night", "Ave Maria", and "Christ Is Born". 🎄

"WORKING NINE TO FIVE, WHAT A WAY TO MAKE A LIVING..."

NINE TO FIVE (9 to 5) is a comedy film released in December 1980. It tells the story of three office workers who take revenge on their sexist boss. The film stars Jane Fonda as Judy Bernly, Lily Tomlin as Violet Newstead, and, in her motion picture debut, Dolly Parton as Doralee Rhodes. Dabney Coleman plays their "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot" boss, Franklin Hart, Jr. Although the film was not critically acclaimed, it was a huge commercial success at the box-office. Dolly wrote the title theme song, which went on to be nominated for a Best Original Song Academy Award. It also won 2 Grammy Awards for Dolly: Country Song of the Year, and Female Country Vocal of the Year.

TRUE COLORS is Cyndi Lauper's second studio album, which was released on 9/15/86. The album was successful, selling 7 million copies worldwide, but was far less successful than her debut album SHE'S SO UNUSUAL. The album spawned three hit singles, including the #1 spot for the title track (Cyndi's 2nd #1 single). "Change of Heart" peaked at #3, and "What's Going On" peaked at #12. The album peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. The album received two Grammy Award nominations: Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. The song, "True Colors", became an anthem for the LGBTQ community and is one of Cyndi's best-loved songs. 🌈

Angel hair pasta with an easy 5-minute sauce

I prepared the pasta according to the package instructions. In the meantime, I heated 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil in a Dutch oven. I added 3 cloves of garlic, minced, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. I heated the garlic until just fragrant, about 1 minute. I added 2 cans (28 oz) of whole, peeled San Marzano tomatoes, with their juice. I used the back of a wooden spoon to break up the tomatoes. I covered the Dutch oven and cooked on medium/high heat for 3-4 minutes. I had some leftover homemade Pesto sauce, so I added that to the tomato sauce and stirred until combined. After the pasta was cooked and drained, I added some sauce back to the bottom of the pan that the pasta was cooked in and slowly added the pasta in until it was all well covered with sauce. Voila, dinner is served! 🍝
