On August 29th, 2026, Polish veteran, Captain Tadeusz Lutak, codename "Pancerz," celebrated his 109th birthday - the oldest man in Poland and one of the last surviving soldiers of the 1939 September Campaign. [1364 x 2015]

Captain Lutak is the last living soldier of General Maczek's armored unit. He gathered valuable intelligence for the Polish Home Army. He took part in numerous sabotage and diversion operations. He participated in the liquidation action against Edward Koch in Niebylec, who had been sentenced to death for collaborating with the Germans.

– You had to fight for Poland. If I had to go again, I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I'm glad that now I can tell young people about it, that the youth comes to visit me.
