Episode-Manner of Death

The prosecution case is thin. The one witness who tried to catch her in a recording failed. And his testimony is suspect because he has a long record. He tried to beat her and she called the cops on him and sent him to jail. Was this revenge?

I couldn’t say for sure that she’s innocent, but I don’t find enough to convict.

Did I miss something?

Is it time for a muzzle?

Two problems, barking at people who walk near our apartment probably 30 or 40 times a day. There is a common terrace, and unfortunately the door is right near our apartment. She started doing this a year and a half ago and there’s been improvement with training — She settles in a minute now, instead of going on at length, but I need to switch to management since I work from home and have ADHD. I am stopping 30+ X day to put her in her place and settle.

Would like to use a muzzle as a training tool in hopes she will bark less.

Second use is indoor with a cat I adopted last week. She’s four years old and never shown signs of aggression, is always patient and gentle with babies, kids dogs, including nervous yapping pups. She rarely barks outside, only while protecting our apartment. I was shocked when she started lunging after kitten. I’ve been training with treats, restraint, separation, etc. and seen a lot of improvement in just a few days but side benefit of muzzle would be no concern about nipping while she and cat hopefully develop a bond. She goes into play bows now so I think she wants to play but kitty is small and must keep her safe.

Third use of muzzle is when I take her to the vet for spay surgery. Her regular vet comes to my home so she will be pretty stressed to go into a clinic.

She does not need it on outdoor walks so the heat is less crucial.

Best type for barking

Wondering if a muzzle is the right solution and if so, what type? It would be for barking and nipping at a new cat.

My 4 y.o. GSD is the sweetest girl but the nervous type and we live in an apartment with a shared terrace. We’re right near the entrance. She began alert barking around 1.5 years ago and since then I’ve been training her to stop after a couple barks and use a quiet voice. She’s improved in duration — from nonstop barking to going to her place and sitting or laying down when I direct her after 30 to 60 seconds. But she never stops on her own — it always interrupts what I’m doing. I WFH and have mild ADHD so very disruptive. The warm weather means more people are out. She can literally light up two or three dozen times a day. I’m losing my mind. I realize training has worked as well as it’s going to work and it’s time to manage the problem.

She is very loving, and I thought she would like a companion cat, another dog would be too much. So I’m four days into a new kitten, and she has been chasing and molesting this cat when out of its kennel. There seems to be some desire to dominate, but also cat is very playful and I think she wants to play too. But I’m not sure. It’s a surprise because she never showed the least bit of prey drive and is gentle and patient with children and other dogs, including tiny dogs. With separation, treats, restraint and training there’s been a big improvement in just a few days.

So I’m wondering, is there a muzzle she could be comfortable in during the day to reinforce the training to address the barking and help the cat until they’ve bonded more?

She is not reactive at all to dogs or people during walks, so it would be inside. Although it might be helpful going to the vet.

I have spent several thousand dollars training her and have no more to spend, but if you have favorite YouTube videos on muzzling and/or cat cohabitation, I’m look at those.

No hate I already feel guilty!

Question about JFK

Watching this and wondering why Jim Garrison of New Orleans would be prosecuting the perp for Kennedy’s assassination? It seems like that would have been in Dallas. Was it because that was the US District court that covered Texas, or was it some other reason.

Other thoughts on the Film invited. Surprised Garrison was not killed as words so many witnesses and people involved in the investigation of Kennedy’s death.

Also, is there a similar theory about Robert Kennedy being killed by the establishment or was his assassin Sirhan acting alone?

Hearsay exceptions?

Would a lawyer/ law school grad explain this? What are the NY (or other) statutes that spell it out… or is the concept or hearsay exception more a matter of case law? Does it pertain to written patterns of misconduct or verbal testimony?

Avoid the E

Maybe it has been corrected but as of an hour ago when I was trying to get home, there was a switch problem and it was messed up. I took the F and 7 home and there were no problems from the JFK - Sutphin area

Buddhist sect that doesn’t require belief in literal reincarnation?

Maybe it’s not a big deal but I believe our Buddha nature goes on forever. The extinguishment of my ego and all that goes with - attachment, frustration, expectation, disappointment - is my goal. The emphasis on literal reincarnation makes me hesitate.

I’m formerly a Baha’i and love the teachings and prayers. The description of the afterlife is not terribly explicit but we know this world is one of many, that our soul progresses and we’re here on Earth to serve and evolve. Ultimately the community life repelled me because so many were ego driven and judgmental despite the Scriptures calling us to higher conduct. For those unfamiliar, the central tenet is the oneness of God, religion, the Prophets and humanity. So nirvana/ extinguishment of the ego can be reached through any path.

I’m drawn to Buddhism and would like to be part of a healthy faith community but am wary, having seen abuses of power within organized religion. I like that Buddhism (for the most part) is about our own journey. But I can never believe we go through hardship because we are being punished. I believe we are tested by hardship, and difficulties are the means of our refinement.

What are your thoughts, suggestions?

What is MTA policy on this?

Serious question about this situation. My Omny app has been working fine then out of the blue yesterday it failed at multiple turnstile readers. I tried swiping a credit card at the turnstile which also failed. I tried to buy a card and the only machine seemed to be broken. (later solved the problem which stemmed from a fraud alert on my card.)

I was stuck several stops from home so I asked the booth attendant if she would let me through since the app was not working. She refused. I walk with a cane and have braces on my hands due to arthritis so walking to another stop is difficult. I asked how am I to get home and she said “that’s for you to figure out.”

I have occasionally had a technical problem and the person in the booth always let me through if I showed that my card was not working.

Did MTA change its policy or were the other attendants just being nice?

Is it unrealistic to expect help from people in the booths? They no longer sell tix or troubleshoot so what is their job?

A minute later I spotted a technician wearing a vendor badge (NOT an MTA worker), explained my dilemma and he let me in. His kindness saved me from cabbing home for $50-100.

Escorts wardrobe

Anyone ever notice that sex workers on the OG are always found sitting around in silky lingerie? Like they don’t ever wear sweats or jeans or heaven forbid flannel pj’s. 😄

Is there really no evil?

It is my understanding that the Buddhist answer is no. I embrace the personal growth goals and peace and virtue. For context, I am in the US and was not raised Christian, but have studied numerous faiths because all Scriptures are enriching. Eg sermon on the mount, the Dhammapada Baha’i writings… I don’t believe there is a devil.

I’m fuzzy about the idea that our life is the creation of our mind. I believe it is to some degree but I have an autoimmune illness where in genetics play a role. I’ve also been a crime victim numerous times, including theft and assault. I did not bring these things on and would not have chosen them, even though I’ve done work to channel my hardships so they enhance personal growth.

I am a volunteer advocate for sex crime victims and work to take predators of the street, and there are no doubt innocent victims of kidnapping and sex trafficking.

How does this all square with the idea that we choose our lives and there is no evil? Our society tends to blame the victim rather than predators.

Am I the only one who finds him creepy?

Kevin Hassett. No matter what he’s talking about — people going hungry because of food prices , the war we’re waging on Iran which has killed thousands of innocents and disrupted global trade — he never loses that creepy little smile. 🥺

Is there flooding between LIC and Man.?

I’m planning to meet a friend in UWS tomorrow and the 7 Is my go-to and it’s down. I’m not familiar with other stations. Does flooding typically happen at G station and are the buses reliable or will they be a mess??

Where have you been all my life? ❤️

I’m talking to you sweet chili sauce. 🥰

I’ve been in a cooking rut — certain dishes come easy, but I needed to break out. I’ve always been challenged by Asian cuisine which seems complicated by a myriad of spices that I don’t understand how to combine.

Another goal is to hit 60 g of protein a day which I have not been doing and I think it’s leaving me fatigued.

Solution: Pan sautéed a pound of chicken tenders. I “cheated” with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce, chopped garlic and a squeeze of lemon. Heated pan with EVOO and butter. Ate it with half a bag of Whole Foods brand Asian chopped salad.

I’ll switch out the vegetables for the rest of those servings. Feel totally satisfied. Handful of semisweet chocolate chips for dessert.

I’m now ready for a commitment…. going to pick up some toasted sesame oil.

From self blame. Personally, I always tried to figure out what was wrong with me that I ended up with men who were creeps and losers. I finally realized it’s because most men are creeps and losers. I wasn’t doing anything wrong after all.

It’s so freeing to arrive at this conclusion. 😄🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
