Daily Minors Quick-Notes 7/5/26 - Parks Harber Parks a Pair of Roundtrippers
Another day with a 2-home run performance as the fireworks come to an end, as Parks Harber picked up two home runs for himself in a big game for Double-A Richmond. Meanwhile, “Tugboat” Matt Wilkinson makes his return to Triple-A, though it wasn’t a great one, while a Top 30 prospect pitcher makes a move to the bullpen for the first time…and it’s unsure whether it’s permanent. And the organization make a surprise release of a 2025 draftee…and I have no answers.
AAA: El Paso Chihuahuas 11, Sacramento River Cats 2
Player of the Game: RF Will Brennan: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (1)
Well, let’s stick with Will Brennan today to end out this series, hitting the team’s only home run on Sunday. Since the start of July, Brennan has gone 10-for-21 (.476) with three doubles and a home run. His overall slash line is .366/.406/.488, with eight walks to 15 strikeouts in 42 games.

Roster Note
An interesting note: the Giants released San Jose LHP Braydon Risley today. The 21-year old Risley was the Giants 19th round pick out of Grayson Junior College in Texas. Risley was having a fine season, with a 4.80 ERA with 64 strikeouts to 17 walks in 60.0 innings. He was the California League Pitcher of the Month in May, and got an unusually large bonus for the 19th round, getting $100,000, when most players in that range get about $10,000 in a signing bonus. There was no given reason for this release. Risley has had a very difficult month-plus, posting a 10.00 ERA in June, and he last pitched on Friday, giving up three runs in 4.1 innings, his best start since May, in which he tied his season-high in strikeouts with seven.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 6/14/26 - Szykowny Shines on a Short Sunday!
We only got three games on this Sunday thanks to rain, but the Flying Squirrels refused to quit in the face of rain on the East Coast, and Charlie Szykowny was a big part of that, with a home run and a double, while the recently promoted Jean Carlos Sio continued to hit as his 2-run homer tied the game. Meanwhile, Lisbel Diaz and Walker Martin hit back-to-back home runs in Eugene. And Sacramento falls behind in the playoff race as they stand still due to weather.
AAA: Game Cancelled
We are one week out of the end of the first half of the season for Triple-A, and with today’s cancellation, the Sacramento River Cats fell to second place in the playoff chase as the Las Vegas Aviators took a half-game lead. With 6 games left, Sacramento will travel to Oklahoma City, who is in third place, two games behind the Cats. Meanwhile, Las Vegas will take on the last place Round Rock Express at home in the final stretch. The Cats will need to win one more game than Las Vegas to have all four Giants farm teams win their first half titles and lock in for the playoffs.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 6/2/26 - More Roster Moves as Bo Davidson and Dakota Jordan Look To Turn Things Around!
For the first time this season…all seven Giants minor league teams are in action on one day! But we’ve got a lot to talk about…Dakota Jordan and Bo Davidson both had big games with home runs as they are both fighting to turn around from slumps. And meanwhile, Dario Reynoso hits two home runs for San Jose. In addition, there were a lot more roster moves today, including three ranked prospects on the move…and speaking of the rankings, MLB Pipeline re-ranked their Top 30 Giants prospects with two graduations, so the numbers in our Notes are redone as well.
Full Roster Moves
So, after yesterday’s post, we did indeed have more roster moves, though notably centering around Double-A but no others. So, including the unannounced moves from yesterday, here are the moves, including two more ranked prospects!
Now in AAA Sacramento
LHP Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson - ⬆️ from AA Richmond
LHP Joe Whitman (24) - ⬆️ from AA Richmond
Now in AA Richmond
RHP Yunior Marte (26) - ⬆️ from High-A Eugene
LHP Charlie McDaniel - ⬆️ from High-A Eugene
UT Jean Carlos Sio - ⬆️ from High-A Eugene (and he’s here to play outfield)
C Onil Perez - ⬆️ from High-A Eugene
RHP Ryan Vanderhei - ⬆️ from High-A Eugene
Now in High-A Eugene
SS Jhonny Level (4) - ⬆️ from Low-A San Jose
Injuries
C Adrian Sugastey (AA) - Place on 7-Day IL
Notably Missing:
Gavin Kilen - With Jhonny Level moving up from San Jose, there was a thought that Kilen might be getting a push to Double-A. But with a May slump, he did not get the push. We’ll see how playing time goes, but in Game 1 of them being teammates, the priority went to Gavin Kilen, who stayed at shortstop while Level went to second base
MLB Pipeline Rankings Update:
MLB Pipeline has graduated two Giants off the list. Trevor McDonald (formerly #16) and Daniel Susac (formerly #21) are both officially off the list. That’s made room for two new players…and those players are Jonah Cox, who slips into the #25 spot, and Yunior Marte, who becomes number 26! What that means is there’s also a cascading effect on every prospect through Luis De La Torre (formerly #17) through Joe Whitman (formerly #26) to move up at least one and sometimes two spots.
Since I use the MLB Pipeline rankings for these Daily Minors Quick Notes (since the scouting reports are public), you’ll see those updated numbers next to the various prospects’ names going forward! A really big update is also on the horizon, once #1 prospect Bryce Eldridge graduates off the list!
AAA: Tacoma Rainiers 6, Sacramento River Cats 1
Player of the Game: C Jesus Rodriguez (17): 1-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 2B (6), 1 SF, 2-3 ABS
Jesus Rodriguez had a successful return to Triple-A after a solid first major league stint of 14 games in the Majors for the majority of May. He finished the stint slashing .231/.302/.385 in the bigs. It’s just a first run, he’s got more work to do in his development. His Triple-A slash line sits at .333/.403/.451 after 25 games at Sacramento this season.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SP Blade Tidwell (10): 5.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 2 WP - A solid start at best for Tidwell, giving up a lot of hits and not getting many strikeouts, but two runs in five innings isn’t a bad overall result His ERA is 6.12 in seven Triple-A games.
- DH Nate Furman: 1-4, 1 R, 1 3B (1), 1 CS (3) - Nate Furman got his first triple in his 51st game, matching his total from 36 games last season. HIs slash line sits at .281/.382/.406.
- RP Ryan Walker: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K - Walker had three strikeouts. He hadn’t gotten any strikeouts over his previous two outings of an inning each, though both were scoreless. He has a 1.42 ERA in six games (6.1 IP) since returning to Triple-A.
Top Prospect Lines:
Rehabbing Player Lines:
- RF Jared Oliva: 0-3 - This was Oliva’s third rehab game, he’s 3-for-8 over those games with two doubles.
- RP Jason Foley: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 HR - Foley has gotten through eight rehab games, seven at Triple-A. He has a 3.24 ERA overall.
- RP Reiver Sanmartin: 1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K - Sanmartin also has gotten through eight rehab games, six in Triple-A, but his ERA overall is 9.00.
Other Notable Lines:
- CF Scott Bandura: 1-4, 1 K
AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels 8, Erie SeaWolves 7
Player of the Game: CF Bo Davidson (7) : 2-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (7), 1 HR (7), 1 E (3)
Bo Davidson has been on a bigtime slump through the end of May, going 2-for-28 (.071) though eight games at the end of May, and generally hasn’t been the same since a week-long injury break from May 14-20th. Hopefully this game, with his second and third extra-base hits since that injury, is a sign that he’s going to start turning his season around.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- LF Parks Harber (14): 2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 HR (7), 1 BB, 1 K - Harber’s got a 6-game hitting streak going, but got his first home run since back on May 20th. He’s hitting .323 with a .967 OPS
- DH Charlie Szykowny: 2-4, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 HR (6) - As Richmond goes through a transition, Szykowny has a big opportunity to step up and be a huge part of this team going forward. He had 21 home runs in 124 games in Eugene last season.
- SP Yunior Marte (26): 4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K - Marte came right into Double-A and made his debut immediately. He had a 3.74 ERA in 9 games at High-A, with 41 strikeouts to 19 walks in 43.1 innings.
- RF Jean Carlos Sio: 2-4, 1 R, 1 K - Also making his Double-A debut was Sio, playing the outfield after being exclusively infield in 15 defensive High-A games. He hit .310/.385/.552 in Eugene in 16 games after a late start due to a spring injury.
Top Prospect Lines:
- Maui Ahuna (19): 0-4, 3 K, 2 E (7)
Other Notable Lines:
- 3B Dayson Croes: 2-4, 2 R
- RP Ben Peterson: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
- RP Will Bednar: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
- 1B Sabin Ceballos: 1-4, 1 K
- 2B Diego Velasquez: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
High-A: Everett AquaSox 8, Eugene Emeralds 5
Player of the Game: CF Dakota Jordan (6): 2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 2B (12), 1 HR (7)
Since May 3rd, Dakota Jordan’s power had disappeared, as he’d hit just three doubles over 21 games, where he went 7-for-94 (.074), but hopefully this game will allow for Jordan to have the kind of turnaround he needs. On the season, he’s got a slash line of .281/.352/.453 with 12 doubles and seven home runs in 49 games.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- 2B Jhonny Level (4): 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 CS (1) - Welcome to High-A, Jhonny Level! He goes to second base
- C Jancel Villarroel (23): 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (2), 1 HBP - Villaroel has two doubles and four home runs in 20 games.
- SS Gavin Kilen (5): 1-3, 2 R, 1 BB - Through 47 games, Kilen has a line of .286/.352/.429 with 20 walks to 30 strikeouts.
Top Prospect Lines:
- RF Trevor Cohen (9): 1-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB (16)
- DH Carlos Gutierrez (15): 0-4, 2 K
- LF Lisbel Diaz (30): 0-4, 2 K - Diaz is back in Eugene from the ACL, now that the Emeralds are back in Eugene from Canada.
- Jacob Bresnahan (8): DNP
- Luis De La Torre (16): DNP
- Gerelmi Maldonado (29): DNP
Other Notable Lines:
- SP Hunter Dryden: 4.0 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
- 1B Zander Darby: 1-4, 1 K
Low-A: San Jose Giants 7, Inland Empire 66ers 4
Player of the Game: 3B Dario Reynoso: 3-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 HR (8), 2 E (6)
Is it Dario Reynoso’s turn to have a breakout run for San Jose? Reynoso’s 2-home run game comes on the heels of him hitting a home run in his last game on Sunday, upping his total to eight on the year in 40 games. Last season, in 68 games, he had 10 home runs (all ten came in 53 ACL games, he didn’t have any in 15 Low-A games.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SP Keyner Martinez (11): 4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K - Martinez had arguable his best game of the season, after allowing 11 runs over his last three starts, lowering his ERA to 5.20.
- RF Cam Maldonado: 3-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (9), 1 E (1) - After Maldonado spent almost all of May without a home run until May 30th, he now has two in his last three games. He’s hitting .299 with a .807 OPS.
- 1B Hayden Jatczak: 1-3, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (7) - Over the last six games, Jatczak is 9-for-22 (.409) with two doubles and a home run. He’s hitting .311 on the year.
Top Prospect Lines:
- SS Lorenzo Meola (18): 1-4, 1 K, 1 E (8) - Meola was drafted with the scouting that he was an excellent defensive shortstop, and now he’ll get an extended amount of time back at that position.
- Argenis Cayama (13): DNP
Other Notable Lines:
- RP Cooper McGrath: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
- C Rod Barajas Jr.: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K
- LF Damian Bravo: 1-4, 1 R, 2 K
ACL: ACL Padres 9, ACL Giants 2 (7 Innings)
Player of the Game: SS Luis Hernández (3): 1-4, 1 R, 1 K, 1 3B (3)
It was a bit of a quiet game for the ACL Giants, so I’ll highlight the biggest single hit, which of course came off the bat of Luis Hernandez. He has three triples, which have all come in his last nine games played. His batting line on the season is .310/.378/.655 through 22 games played this season.
Top Prospect Lines:
- RP Carlos De La Rosa (27): 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 H, 1 HR
- 3B Yulian Barreto (28): 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 K

- Alberto Laroche (20): DNP
Rehabbing Player Lines:
- SP Matt Dunaway: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K - This is the 27-year old Dunaway’s first appearance of the year. Dunaway was signed out of a 3+ year indy career in 2025 by the Giants, and appeared in Eugene in eight games with a 1.84 ERA in 14.2 innings.
Other Notable Lines:
- DH Rayner Arias: 2-3
- RF Oliver Tejada: 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B (6)

Notable Lines:
- RF Yoxander Benitez: 4-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B, 1 SB (1)

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 6/1/26 - Level levels up and Tugboat chugs to a new harbor as the Dominican Summer League Begins Play on Rookie Monday!
Damn, this is the busiest rookie Monday I’ve had all season, and not just for the two teams of the DSL starting playing for the season! We’ve had a *lot* of moves in the farm system and the Majors the last couple of days, and a couple of very significant promotions coming (unofficially) near the end of the day on Monday. And the Dominican Summer League kicks off, though without a lot of top prospects to feature.
Player Movement
Well, the promotion of Jonah Cox to the Majors kicked off quite a couple of days of player movement. Let’s go over it all!
5/30:
IF Jose Astudillo from San Jose to Sacramento - This move is most likely an injury fill-in for Osleivis Basabe, who went on the IL on 5/29. I don’t expect this move to be a long-term promotion.
OF Jared Oliva to Sacramento on rehab
OF Harrison Bader placed on 10-day IL
5/31
OF Jonah Cox from Richmond to San Francisco - This was a pretty under the radar move, you probably missed it.
OF Will Brennan from SF to Sacramento
RHP Tristan Beck from Sacramento to SF
LHP Ryan Borucki DFA’d
Okay, other than the inconsequential, unimportant outfield moves, in this day we see the beginnings of the attempts to fix the bullpen. It won’t be easy, with the Giants really not having many options other than their own farm system…but changes are needed.
6/1
IF Buddy Kennedy from Sacramento to SF
C/IF Jesus Rodriguez from SF to Sacramento
RHP Wilkin Ramos from Sacramento to SF
C Logan Porter DFA’d
RHP Joel Peguero placed on 60-day IL
Catcher Eric Haase emerging from the wreckage of the catcher position in San Francisco spelled the moves we see today. Good luck to Logan Porter, who will quickly find opportunities elsewhere, but getting Rodriguez back to an everyday role in Sacramento will be good for him. He needs to improve his defense, and how often he plays catcher versus elsewhere will be interesting to watch. Losing Joel Peguero just hurts the bullpen even more….Ramos has a 2.00 ERA in 17 games at Sacramento, so hopefully he can bring some good energy (not so much in his big league debut earlier).
Buddy Kennedy is the interesting move here. Casey Schmitt pretty much outplayed him in the spring, leading to him heading to Sacramento, but he was having a career year in Sacramento, hitting .321/.424/.543 over 48 games, with 27 walks to 27 strikeouts. Kennedy has played first and third in Sacramento, but is capable enough to play second as well, and has experience in left field, but not much. Kennedy will get most of the ABs that Rodriguez had, I’m guessing.
As-Yet Unofficial Moves
SS Jhonny Level from San Jose to Eugene
UT Jean Carlos Sio from Eugene to Richmond
LHP Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson from Richmond to Sacramento
Woooboy, here we go.
I think just yesterday I replied to someone saying that I didn’t expect a Level promotion until late-July to coincide with the end of the ACL season. So much for that. He’s certainly had a good start to the year, and he’s earned this promotion, so congratulations to him. The question now is…what will this mean with Gavin Kilen. Is Kilen moving up as well (even though he’s slumping), or will he get moved full time to second…or will we see the two players split time at shortstop like we were seeing in the ACL between Luis Hernandez and Josuar Gonzalez?
Tugboat’s promotion to Triple-A comes off of his being named as the Eastern League Player of the Week! Wilkinson definitely adds legitimate pitching depth at Triple-A that the Giants could appreciate. Going from the Eastern League to the PCL is a huge hurdle for young pitchers, both in terms of offensive environments and also having to deal with the ABS and the generally skinnier strike zones, so good luck to him, and give him time to adjust!
22-year old Jean Carlos Sio had a late start to the season due to injury, only playing 16 games in High-A so far this year, and just 28 at the High-A level in 2025. He’s also been mostly a middle infielder in Eugene, but has experience all over the outfield and infield from 2025. He’s almost certainly headed to Richmond to help out in the outfield, which currently has Bo Davidson and….um…not many other outfield options. Parks Harber and Jack Payton both have had time in the corner outfield, but not a ton and aren’t the best defenders out there.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see other moves come as rosters on Tuesday shake out.
AAA though Low-A: Scheduled Day Off
ACL: ACL Giants 9, ACL Angels 0
Player of the Game: 2B Anthony Marquez: 3-4, 1 R, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (1)
Anthony Marquez got his first home run of the year in his 17th game. The leadoff hitter had only one home run in each of his first two pro seasons in the Dominican Summer League, in 38 and 51 games respectively. His first season in the Arizona Complex League currently has a batting line of .298/.420/.439, with 12 walks to 11 strikeouts.
Top Prospect Lines:
- SS Luis Hernández (3): 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
- 3B Yulian Barreto (28): 1-2, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 SB (4)
- CF Lisbel Diaz (30): 2-5, 1 R, 1 2B (1), 1 SB (3)
- Josuar Gonzalez (2): DNP
- Alberto Laroche (22): DNP
- Carlos De La Rosa (27): DNP
Other Notable Lines:
- SP Leandro Rodriguez: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
- RP Melvin Pineda: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
- 1B Evan Estevez: 1-2, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 2B (2), 1 SF, 1 CS (2)
DSL Orange: DSL Giants Orange 12, DSL Rockies 3
Notable Lines:
- 3B Albert Jimenez: 2-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (1)
- CF Jose Valdez: 2-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (1)
- C Fernand Pena: 1-3, 3 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (1), 2 HBP
- 2B Yeison Oviedo: 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 CS (1)
- SP Mario Gonzalez: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K
- LF Angelo Ugueto: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB - Ugueto was the other major position player the Giants signed in January at the international signing period start alongside Hernandez (most of the bonus pool was taken up by Hernandez).
DSL Black: DSL Cubs Blue 9, DSL Giants Black 8
Notable Lines:
- RF Vinicius Dos Santos: 1-2, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 2B (1)
- SS Keiberg Camacaro: 2-5, 3 RBI, 1 2B (1), 1 SB (1)
- 2B Alexander Camacaro: 2-4, 1 R, 2 K - Yes, Alexander and Keiberg are brothers. Keiberg, 19, signed in 2023 and is in his fourth season in the DSL; Alexander, 18, signed in 2025 and is in his second DSL season. And geeze, the Giants/MiLB need to put their first initials in the box score!!!
- CF Djean Macares: 2-4, 1 R, 1 SB (1), 1 HBP
- 3B Denny Riera: 1-4, 2 R, 1 K, 1 HBP
Notes:
When the Giants started their international signing period most of their bonus went to Luis Hernandez in the ACL, and only two other players were announced signed at the start of the period, in Venezuelan center fielder Angelo Ugueto (who is on the DSL Giants Orange team) and Mexican pitcher Alexis Gallego, who as yet is not appearing on either roster.
Side note: I had heard a lot of chatter over the offseason and early this year that the Giants (and many other teams) were going to cut down on the DSL teams, going down to just one team, much like everyone did in the American Complex Leagues a couple of years ago after the minor league roster limits came down under the Minor League CBA. (Players in the Dominican Summer League are not covered by the Minor League CBA). But, at least for one more season, we’ve got the two DSL teams again!

Josh Bostick (24) - Full Season
Talking about Jonah Cox and Debating Whether This was a Good Move
Hey all...I figured I'd take my thoughts out of the Daily Minors Quick Notes and figured I'd share a bit about what there is to know about him from following him in the minors, and whether or not this is a good move, rushing him up from Double-A, especially in the light of the moves Farhan Zaidi made.
Let's talk about who Jonah Cox is. Cox was originally a 6th round pick in 2023 by the Athletics. But after a season, he was traded to the Giants for Ross Stripling.
In his first season, he split time between Low-A and High-A, and then spent a second in High-A.
Although Cox hit .297 in his time in San Jose, he overall slashed .250/.331/.387 over a season and a half at High-A, with 193 strikeouts to 76 walks, which was a 24.7% strikeout rate. Although Cox did steal 58 bases in both of those seasons, the hitting numbers weren't inspiring.
This year, however, Cox made some changes to his swing, and the change was inspired. Despite moving up to AA, where many hitters have struggled, Cox has gone 64-for-160 (.400). His 31 strikeouts is a 16.9% strikeout rate, and his 27 steals lead the Eastern League.
Now, this has only been two months of a season, which is still relatively a small sample size, it's not too small of one either. As Squirrels broadcaster Trey Wilson pointed out, only two players since 2005 have hit .400 or better in the EL through the end of May; the other player who did that is Vlad Guerrero, Jr. Not bad company.
Cox is also getting more power out of his bat than ever before. His six home runs through May is already a 2nd highest in a year for him (10), his five triples leads the EL, and he also has 11 doubles, for a .644 slugging percentage. His previous season high was .398 in 2025.
Cox's profile is simple: even before this season, he was an excellent defensive outfielder at all three positions, with a lot of speed and someone who used it on the base paths. The hitting ability adds a new dimension to his profile, and one that raises the question of a starter.
How will he pan out in the Majors? A jump over Triple-A will make for some need for adjustments, for sure, both against pitchers and catchers he steals off of. Of course, part of this question is how often he will play...which is a question with this Giants team.
If you asked me today, I'm still unsure I'd trust his hitting improvements to be sustainable, but Cox at least has a reasonable floor as an ideal 4th outfielder. He can improve the defense at any outfield spot, and steal bases as a pinch runner.
Adding some hitting ability, even if he's not a threat to hit .400 in the bigs, just expands that profile to being a dangerous pinch hitter and a capable fill-in every few days. If can hit well, he could be a traditional leadoff hitter in a big league lineup.
So...is this a good move? I've been of mixed minds about it.
Let's debate whether the Jonah Cox move is a good one.
Is skipping Triple-A okay? Well, it can be, but more often for pitchers. Since 2010, the list of players called up straight from AA for the Giants is not a list full of highly successful guys.
Matt Duffy and Hunter Stickland are the most successful. But others are names you may not recognize: Miguel Gomez, Dan Slania, Eric Surkamp, Darren Ford, and technically Jarret Parker. Parker didn't play after his callup and was just an emergency callup, sent to AAA right away.
But of course, there is the big exception: Pablo Sandoval, who was called up after just 44 Double-A games near the end of the 2008 season. Did that callup work? Absolutely, but Sandoval also had a bigger prospect profile and history, and the success is a rarity.
There's also how this callup feels a bit like Farhan Zaidi's constant attempts to capture lightning in a bottle, which started options clocks for young players early and didn't work out too well for guys like Luis Matos and particularly Wade Meckler.
Meckler, after getting through some health issues and a lot more minor league seasoning, has just been called up by the Angels and is being a clutch player for them, but the Giants had to cut him to get room on the 40-man roster for the last offseason's free agent moves.
Is this just a desperation move by the team? Is Buster out of options and just trying to do things to get anything going?
Look, whether or not this is a good move, that last line is probably true. Maybe not quite desperation, but the Giants don't have many moves available.
But, when it comes to Cox, there's a few things worth considering.
The biggest is that Cox's best skills fit what Posey says he wanted for the team: defense and athleticism, and those skills don't really need the same Triple-A kind of honing that things like hitting does.
But the hitting, and the sustainability of it, does remain the big question, and Cox would likely get some good development in Triple-A for that. And it's notable that a couple of weeks ago, the team promoted Scott Bandura from AA to AAA over Cox.
That also feeds into what is a bigger question: how does the team feel about Cox?
I don't like saying this about players, because they are all human beings trying to make things happen...but let's be frank for a moment, because there is a reality in baseball…
Some players gets viewed as Prospects™; some are viewed as organizational soldiers who fill roles throughout the system; others are seen in lesser lights.
Coming into this season, Cox was not seen as a Prospect™. Over a full season with sub-par hitting in High-A will do that.
The changes Cox made in the offseason are not easily done, and rarely as effective as Cox has made them look, nor is it quite as sustainable. But was Cox's performance enough to make him a Prospect™?
That's a question for Randy Winn and Kyle Haines.
But a move like this, with Bandura getting the AAA promotion and Cox getting the MLB push...could be seen either way as to who is viewed higher. It could be that they are more serious about Bandura getting methodical promotions, but are willing to risk things with Cox.
But...there is a more positive light.
First: Cox is a perfect fit for this team right now, with Bader out again. As I said, he fits the type of team Posey has said he wants, even if it's not the team he has assembled. Defense, athleticism, and potentially just good hitting.
Cox also brings to the team something that has been widely reported as a team weakness: speed on the base paths. And Cox gets those steals frequently throughout his history.
There's also room for him. Bryce Eldridge was blocked with Devers and Schmitt taking up the first base and DH roles. That's less of a problem for Cox, as center field is basically just manned by Drew Gilbert right now, and he is neither a highly invested-in player, nor as high performing (especially against lefties). I doubt Cox plays every day, but I wouldn't be surprised with him splitting with Gilbert, and always starting against lefties.
There's also another consideration that makes this seem less desperate: The Rule 5 draft.
One way or another, Cox's rise would raise his profile with everyone, and even if he didn't get this push, the team would likely see enough to protect him by putting him on the 40. To that end, this isn't the same risk as pushing Meckler to the bigs in his first full pro year.
Even if Cox is just a temporary fill in, he'll likely go back to Triple-A to develop in a more natural path. That's not the worst way for the team to develop him, even if this poses some risk in his development path.
But there's one other way this move makes sense: Cox brings absolutely the right kind of energy to this roster. Not just in speed, but in terms of the hustle he brings to the field, and the work ethic to improve himself, even when others might have given up.
Is this move desperation, trying to catch lightning in a bottle? Yes, absolutely. But it's not reckless abandon, and there's good roads ahead regardless of how it works out. This move may not save the team, but it can absolutely help it.
And if it works out, it gives fans the kind of young player they love to cheer for, a guy who plays his ass off and makes things happen.
Daily Minors Quick-Notes 5/31/26 - Drew Cavanaugh puts a Baseball into Orbit
We don’t have the stats, because Statcast suspiciously didn’t work after a River Cat’s monster home run seemed to break it for the second straight season, but Drew Cavanaugh launched a baseball in Reno as his great run continues in Triple-A. Meanwhile, Jhonny Level finished May strong after a bit of a back slide, and Luis De La Torre throws the best start of his season!
Jonah Cox: I'm just going to make another post with my thoughts about his callup. But, um, he was called up, if you hadn't heard...
Damn, he still looks weird with short hair!
AAA: Sacramento River Cats 13, Reno Aces 11
Player of the Game: C Drew Cavanaugh: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR (5), 1-2 ABS
In a final game in Reno, Drew Cavanaugh hit a huge home run that was visually impressive, hit over the batter’s eye in center field. There was no statcast data available (callback to Marco Luciano’s “500-foot” home run in Reno last season), but it was a huge home run, go check out the video on Sacramento’s FKA Twitter channel. Cavanaugh now had five home runs and seven doubles in 15 games at Sacramento, and a batting line of .393/.478/.786 at the level, though having more of a third of the games at Reno, where Cavanaugh went 10-for-22 (.455) with a double and three home runs should be remembered.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- DH Nate Furman: 1-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (5), 1 SF, 1-2 ABS - Nate Furman is 50 games into his time at Sacramento, and is slashing .282/.384/.399 with seven doubles and five home runs.
- 2B Thomas Gavello: 1-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR (4) - Gavenllo has gone 6-for-18 (.333) with a double and home run since coming back from a week off.
- SS Aeverson Arteaga: 2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 2 2B (4), 1 E (1) - Arteaga had his first multi-double game of the season at either level, giving him eight overall on the year.
Top Prospect Lines:
- SP Carson Whisenhunt (12): 4.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HBP

- Blade Tidwell (10): DNP
Rehabbing Player Lines:
- CF Jared Oliva: 1-3, 1 R, 1 K
Other Notable Lines:
- PH-LF Jose Astudillo: 1-2, 1 BB - I missed yesterday that Astudillo got called up to Sacramento, likely as a fill-in for Brennan getting bounced back up to (and since back down from) the bigs. He pinch ran in Saturday’s game.
- LF-CF Scott Bandura: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K
- 3B Jake Holton: 2-4, 1 R, 1 HBP
AA: Akron RubberDucks 11, Richmond Flying Squirrels 5
Player of the Game: SS Maui Ahuna (20): 1-1, 1 R, 3 RBI, 3 BB, 1 2B (11)
It was a perfect on-base day for shortstop Maui Ahuna, powered by his best day for walks on the season, getting three to give him 19 on the season, against 59 strikeouts in 43 games. He’s got a 11% walk rate against a 34.1% strikeout rate on the season, with a .243/.327/.405 slash line.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- C Ty Hanchey: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (5) - With Jonah Cox promoted, Hanchey’s strong start at Richmond is helping a lot, as he’s 13-for-35 (.371) in 11 Double-A games.

High-A: Eugene Emeralds 4, Vancouver Canadians 1
Player of the Game: CF Trevor Cohen (9): 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B (16)
It was another good game for Trevor Cohen, who has had three straight multi-hit games, going 7-for-15 (.467) and boosting his sagging batting average from .260 to .277 in the three games. The 3rd round pick finished May with a batting line of .324/.385/.431 over 25 games, after his April was a line of .220/.366/.341
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SP Luis De La Torre (17): 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K, 1 WP, 1 HBP - This was the first game for De La Torre without allowing a run of any kind, lowering his season ERA to 4.25.
- LF Carlos Gutierrez (15): 1-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 2 K, 1 HR (5) - This was Gutierrez’s second home run in four games, which has upped his slugging percentage from .397 to .446 (two doubles and six total hits in those four games helped with that).
- RF Jakob Christian: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (3) - This was Christian’s first home run since May 12th. He’s gone 7-for-52 (.135) with two doubles and now this home run in 13 games since then.
Top Prospect Lines:

Low-A: San Jose Giants 8, Fresno Grizzlies 7
Player of the Game: SS Jhonny Level (4): 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B (14), 1 3B (2)
Jhonny Level finished his month of May strong with his fifth game of at least three hits during the month. He finished the month with a .296/.385/.561 slash line, which was lesser than his hot first month of the year. His overall batting line is .325/.392/.576 after 44 games, with 14 doubles, two triples, and ten home runs.
Other Players to Spotlight:

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 5/25/26 - Hernandez Gets 3 Hits on Rookie Monday
The first thing you might be asking for first, we have no updates on Josuar Gonzalez, but he did not play today after coming out of Saturday’s game with a leg injury running out a triple. But even without half of the dynamic duo, Luis Hernandez had three hits to lead the ACL team to a win. Plus, some reading (and maybe discussion) about minor league baseball.
AAA through Low-A: Scheduled Day Off
ACL: ACL Giants 3, ACL D-backs 2
Player of the Game: SS Luis Hernández (3): 3-4
The 17-year old star prospect kept it going, though with all singles in this game, breaking two straight hitless games over which he went 0-for-9. This is his fourth game this season out of 17 with at least three hits. This leaves his batting line at .328/.395/.642, with seven doubles, one triple, and four home runs.
Top Prospect Lines:
- 2B Yulian Barreto (28): 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K - Barreto made his first appearance in a game since back on May 15th. He has a slash line of .343/.410/.343, and yes, he does not have an extra-base hit yet in ten games played.
- Josuar Gonzalez (2): DNP - No appearance for Gonzalez, who left Saturday’s game with an apparent injury. I have not gotten any updates yet.
- Alberto Laroche (22): DNP
- Carlos De La Rosa (27): DNP
Other Notable Lines:

Reading Material
Jake Mintz of Yahoo Sports wrote an article inspired by the recent ACL Giants domination of the ACL Dodgers in a 29-2 game, writing about how this is a symptom of a major problem with the ACL that could lead to bigger changes in the minors.
It’s not a bad article. The summary is that the ACL is almost exclusively made up of Dominican players, with not enough pitchers to be able to compete, partially due to new lower minor league roster limits, and partially due to injuries with everyone trying to throw harder. It says that international hitters are losing the most due to a lack of opportunities against pitchers who can’t throw it over the plate and shorter or cancelled games due to not having enough pitchers to throw games.
It finishes with a conclusion that MLB is considering cutting another level from the minors when the current minor league CBA ends after 2027, letting college do more development work for the Majors.
Here are my quick responses:
- I have absolutely heard that baseball wants to cut another level of the minors, although I do not think it will happen until after 2030 due to the current affiliation agreements and their time frames, although the groundwork for it could be laid in the next MLB CBA as well as the MiLB CBA. But some are saying that the unions aren’t going to give the owners what they want.
- Letting college baseball develop players is a cost-cutting move that won’t make MLB any better, between differences like college bats being metal to reduced schedules not helping with building strength or stamina really won’t help young players get better than the current system.
- International Players would be further hurt by such a move, both hitters and pitchers, with how young they sign compare to draftees, leaving them to spend more time basically just playing at one level before having to jump to a new Single-A.
- An International Draft could affect this a lot, and will be a hot topic (again) in CBA negotiations, though overshadowed by the cap talk.
- This article should have addressed how the 2024 decision to move the ACL/FCL Leagues to a May-to-July schedule meant that same-year draftees no longer can be a part of the league, which has also had a big effect on the quality of play at the level. Before that, the league ran from Late June through August.
- Part of the reason for this was tied to the 2021 move of the MLB draft from early June to the All-Star Break in July. This was requested since the old draft happened before the college World Series (or other playoffs), leading to the potential of injury post-draft and postseason distractions for college teams and players. To that end, Mid-July makes more sense for the draft.
A few other other things…these don’t come from the article, but come from my expectations on the topic of the potential of Minor League Baseball cutting one of the Single-A levels:
- MLB wants to do this in tandem with expansion. That way, instead of cutting 30 minor league teams, they would “only” be cutting 24, since each expansion team would need a team at the three remaining minor league levels (six in total).
- I’ve been hearing for a long time MLB wants to straight up get rid of either the California League or the Northwest League, replacing one or both with an “Arizona State League” played in the spring complexes (like the current Low-A Florida State League), but with new stadiums being built or significant investments in stadiums in both leagues, that seems impossible.
- Right now, I believe it will be more likely for the 6-team NWL and 8-team CAL to be merged, with a few teams cut from each, leaving extreme “North” and “South” divisions made up of each former league. Related to this, Fresno will get a chance to return to Triple-A with the “expansion” for the new western team.
- One thing Giants fans will want to keep an eye on: It’s very possible/likely that the Washington Nationals will make a serious push in 2030 to affiliate with Richmond for their Triple-A team, after the success launch of Richmond’s new stadium. Richmond-to-San Francisco is the furthest distance between a Big League team and a farm team, due to the 2021 reshuffle putting a focus on farm teams being closer to the big league teams. The Giants and Richmond have the relationship due to three big context points:
- There are no west coast Double-A league. The furthest west is the Texas League (the others are the Eastern League and South League). Due to this, there’s no truly local Double-A farm clubs for California teams.
- The Giants have been affiliated with Squirrels owner Lou DiBella since 2003, when the Giants left the Texas League and affiliated with the Norwich Navigators in Double-A. That team later renamed themselves the Connecticut Defenders, and moved to Richmond in 2010. Both the Giants and DiBella’s Squirrels lobbied MLB to let the relationship continue despite trying to get teams local.
- While the Nationals spent a *long* look at affiliating with Richmond in 2021, and reports are that if they said they wanted that relationship, MLB would’ve made it happen, the Nationals decided they didn’t want the poor facilities of The Diamond. Instead, they affiliated with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings in northwestern New York state. Even aside from the Richmond possibility, they are one of the most likely teams to be looking for a new Triple-A affiliate.
Daily Minors Quick-Notes 5/23/26 - Josuar Gonzalez One of Two Injuries to Overshadow Day
Sorry to hit with the bad news. Josuar Gonzalez opened today’s ACL game with a triple, but reportedly pulled up lame and was immediately removed from the game. Bad news indeed. Another injury, though seemingly much less serious was Christian Koss getting hit by a pitch and coming out of his game a few innings later. But there were good things, like Drew Cavanaugh’s 3-hit day, or Jonah Cox collecting 80% of Richmond’s hits in a win, and a grand slam in Eugene for Lisbel Diaz!
(Sorry for the late post!)
AAA: Sacramento River Cats 6, Sugar Land Space Cowboys 0
Player of the Game: C Drew Cavanaugh: 3-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 2B (6)
With the two doubles today, Drew Cavanaugh now has six doubles in eight Triple-A games, after he had seven doubles in 22 Double-A games. He also has two home runs, and three walks to five strikeouts. His slash line is .400/.472/.800 so far with Sacramento this season.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SS Christian Koss: 0-0, 1 HBP - INJURY - Koss was hit in the hand by a pitch in the first inning. However, he stayed in the game until the middle of the 4th before he was lifted for a pinch hitter, so hopefully the cause for him being lifted isn’t too serious.
- 1B-3B Buddy Kennedy: 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (6) - Five of Kennedy’s six home runs have come in May, though he’s 23-for-73 (.315) in the month, under his season average of .331.
- LF Turner Hill: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 SB (7) - Hill has steals in his last three games played, as he has eight total in 34 games this season. He had 20 in 87 games last season.
Top Prospect Lines:
Rehabbing Player Lines:
- RP Jason Foley: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K - Foley has yet to be scored upon in four Triple-A outings, giving up four hits and no walks (and one hit batter) in 4.2 innings, with three strikeouts.
Other Notable Lines:
- RF Scott Bandura: 1-4, 2 R, 1 K
- 2B Nate Furman: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K, 1 2B (5)
- RP Ryan Walker: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 1
Player of the Game: RF Jonah Cox: 4-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SB (24), 1 CS (7)
Four more singles, and Jonah Cox upped his batting average from .400 to .417 through 39 games, and his on-base percentage up to .471. His 3-steal day does a good job on helping his steal total in May (now up to nine in 14 attempts) keep up with April (15 in 17 attempts). And his four hits made up 80% of the team’s hits on the night. Cox has a 1.154 OPS on the season.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- RP Will Bednar: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K - Bednar posted season highs in innings and strikeouts. In Richmond, he has 20 strikeouts to 10 walks in 15.1 innings….
- 2B Zane Zielinski: 1-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (1) - Zielinski got his first Double-A double in six games, after having six in 25 games at High-A.
Top Prospect Lines:
- CF Bo Davidson (7): 0-3, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K
- LF Parks Harber (14): 0-2, 3 BB, 1 K

- Joe Whitman (26): DNP

- RP Brad Depperman: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP
High-A: Eugene Emeralds 9, Hillsboro Hops 8
Player of the Game: RF Lisbel Diaz (30): 2-4, 1 R, 5 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (6), 1 HR (7), 1 E (1)
Lisbel Diaz may have gotten a little help on it, but it was still a grand slam over the wall for his 7th home run for the season to help keep Eugene in this game early on. Diaz is 17-for-63 in May so far with five doubles and three home runs, giving him an overall batting line of .252/.301/.472.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SS Gavin Kilen (5): 3-5, 2 R, 1 K - Since May 3rd, Kilen is 25-for-60 (.417) with four doubles and two home runs.
- 3B Walker Martin: 1-2, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 2B (4) - With the pair of walks, Martin now has 17 walks to 46 strikeouts in 36 games.
- LF Carlos Gutierrez (15): 2-4, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 SB (11), 1 E (3) - Gutierrez is hitting .296 in May after having only a .229 batting average after April.
Top Prospect Lines:
- CF Dakota Jordan (6): 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB (9)
- DH Trevor Cohen (9): 0-5
- C Jancel Villarroel (25): 1-5, 2 K
- Jacob Bresnahan (8): DNP

- RP Liam Simon: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
Low-A: Stockton Ports 4, San Jose Giants 3
Player of the Game: 1B Jeremiah Jenkins: 2-4, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 2B (7)
This makes it three straight games with two hits, raising his average from .242 to .272 over that span, as he’s gone 6-for-12 (.500) with three doubles and a home run, which has raised his slugging percentage from .407 to .476 in that short span. He’s also got an on-base percentage of .387.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- DH Isaiah Barkett: 2-5, 1 K, 1 2B (8) - Barkett has three straight multi-hit games, and four in his last five games. Going 11-for-21 (.524) in that span with a double, his average is now .358.

ACL: ACL Giants 7, ACL Cubs 5
Player of the Game: SP Alexander Fuentes: 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K
Fuentes has struck out exactly six batters in each of his last three starts, but the previous two were 4.0 innings. This was his first shutout start, lowering his ERA to 3.86. The 21-year old pitcher is in his second season at the ACL.
Top Prospect Lines:
- SS Josuar Gonzalez (2): 1-1, 1 3B - INJURY - Josuar Gonzalez hit a triple to lead off the game, but the box score says “Injury Delay” and he was lifted for a pinch runner. No further news was available, although an unconfirmed report indicated he pulled up grabbing his leg between second and third. Gonzalez has been recovering from a spring hamstring injury, and been relatively limited for the first couple of weeks of the season.

Player of the Game: SS Christian Koss: 2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (1)

Low-A: San Jose Giants 9, Stockton Ports 7
Player of the Game: SS Jhonny Level (4): 4-5, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2 HR (9)
Just another 2-home run day for Jhonny Level, his second in three games played. And to think, power is not considered Level’s strongest skill. Both home runs came from the left side, as seven of his home runs have as a lefty in 119 at-bats, while he’s had two home runs as a righty in 36 at-bats. Also, his second 4-hit game of the season boosted his average back to .342 on the season, to go with a .402 OBP and .606 slugging percentage.

Roster Note:
As has been posted already earlier today, Victor Bericoto is getting the call up to the big leagues. A move seemed telegraphed, especially with Scott Bandura’s move up from Richmond to Sacramento, who have been pretty thin on outfielders. If the Giants are DFA’ing Will Brennan to make room, he won’t be re-appearing on the River Cats soon, as he’ll have to wait through waivers.
Daily Minors Quick-Notes 5/20/26 - Drew Cavanaugh Hits 2 Home Runs
As we rolled into Wednesday, the wins did not stop (except in the Majors) as the farm system rolled. Drew Cavanaugh powered Sacramento to a blowout victory, while Parks Harber was the highlight in a Double-A victory for a starting-to-be-depleted Squirrels lineup. Plus, we get a surprise promotion that probably wasn’t expected but isn’t really that big of a surprise, and a return from injury for a top prospect!
AAA: Sacramento River Cats 13, Sugar Land Space Cowboys 1
Player of the Game: DH Drew Cavanaugh: 3-5, 2 R, 4 RBI, 1 2B (3), 2 HR (2)
Drew Cavanaugh had his first huge game with Sacramento this season, picking up his first home runs at Triple-A this year after six games. Overall this season, including Double-A, he has ten doubles and five home runs in 28 games. Cavanaugh is 7-for-22 (.318) with three walks and four strikeouts with Sacramento.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- LF Scott Bandura: 1-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 2B (1) - Hey!!! Look who’s here! A lot of talk has been given to another outfielder in Double-A, but you can’t ignore Bandura’s very respectable .324/.430/.479 slash line in 37 Double-A games with nine doubles, two triples, and three home runs, not to mention ten steals in twelve attempts.
- C Logan Porter: 3-5, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR (1) - Porter got his first home run of the year, in his 15th Triple-A game. He had six in 73 Triple-A games last season.
- SP Carson Whisenhunt (12): 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP - This was Whisenhunt’s first shutout start since April 9th, lowering his ERA to 3.35.

ACL: ACL White Sox 4, ACL Giants 1 (7 Innings)
Player of the Game: SS Josuar Gonzalez (2): 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 K

Three Giants in Voting For Best Nickname in the Minor Leagues
Of course, there's "Tugboat" Matt Wilkinson. But there's two others:
• "El Pollo" Diego Velasquez - Because he had lighter hair than others in his family growing up, they said he looked like a little chick.
• "El Cirujano" Brayan Palencia - In the DSL, he was carving up the strike zone when facing batters, hence getting the nickname that translates to "The Surgeon".
The voting is bracket style of 32 players, so there's a lot of votes to make, especially since you do all the rounds. But go support your Giants! (Or, you know, actually choose the nicknames you like...you do you!)
Daily Minors Quick-Notes 5/18/26 - Dayson Croes’ Rehab Continues
It’s Rookie Monday, which for now is just one game (June will bring about the Dominican Summer League). Taking the show today was the rehabbing Dayson Croes, who was off to a very good start in Double-A Richmond before a leg injury, and played his second game of rehab, getting two hits with a double. Meanwhile the team won in extra innings (in the 8th), while Josuar Gonzalez and Luis Hernandez each picked up a double.
AAA through Low-A: Scheduled Off-Day
ACL: ACL Giants 5, ACL Cubs 3 (8 Innings)
Player of the Game: 2B Dayson Croes: 2-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 2B (1), 1 SB (1)
Dayson Croes had his second rehab game in the ACL, and it was better than his 0-for-2 in the first one. Croes had played 10 games in Double-A before his gnarly injury, where he was 15-for-44 (.341) with four doubles and one triple, with three walks and seven strikeouts. Also, I’ll just leave this here for those who don’t know: you pronounce Dayson’s last name the same as you would “Cruz”. He’s from Aruba, so it’s spelled in the Dutch way.
Top Prospect Lines:
- SS Josuar Gonzalez (2): 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 2B (4)

Baseball America Updates it's Top 30 List, Jonah Cox gets Ranked
Baseball America just reranked their list here in Mid-May. There aren't a lot of big changes, and in fact the top 10 remain the same. But beyond them, there's a bit of shuffling.
The biggest news is that Jonah Cox, who has been absolutely raking in Richmond, appears on the list at #21. Meanwhile, new acquisition Matt "Tugboat" Wilkinson makes his first Giants ranking at #25.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 5/16/26 - Two 2-Home Run Days from Jean Carlos Sio and Lorenzo Meola
Two middle infielders had big days in the Giants system on Saturday. Jean Carlos Sio just returned from injury, and got into it right away, hitting two home runs to power a powerful Eugene team that was missing 1.5 of its biggest stars in a blowout win. And with San Jose, Number 19 prospect Lorenzo Meola picked up a pair of home runs down in Ontario, though the game didn’t go San Jose’s way. Meanwhile, Gavin Kilen was the .5 of Eugene’s offensive contributors, as he left the game in the 4th for unknown reasons.
