Continuous sobriety…

I fucking hate counting days. Absolutely no one outside of AA cares about continuous sobriety.

I saw an AA member with over 20 years admit to the group she took some of her roommates pain meds. Back down to zero and raising her hand with me for 30 days announcing that we were new to the program. Her sponsor also made her write 3 prayers each morning of that month.

I have about 3 years of near sobriety. I’ve drank 4 times in those 3 years…1 time being a month ago. Do I tell people who ask that I’m only one month sober?

If anyone asks if I drink I just say not really. No one except AA cult members would prod and pry you to clarify exactly when you’re last drink was.

Lurked an online AA meeting…couldn’t make it halfway thru

I always knew AA wasn’t the answer for me. Being forced to go either thru rehab or by my family during my early days of sobriety was awful. But of course we had to look like we were ‘trying’ so others would get off our back…rather than just coming to the conclusion that drinking isn’t in the cards for me and just stop.

So I picked a random one. Had 55 people. Started the same. Read from the big book about step four then opened it up for discussion.

First, was a young kid who had 8 months relapsed for a year and just came back. Had nothing to say regarding the subject just spouting a few terms about being in ‘the middle of the pack’.

Second, was a really quiet kid. Same thing. I feel both felt forced to speak and to feel like they were giving AA a shot.

Then the home group people came in. Each one started with ‘what a great topic’ ‘thanks for the topic’ then proceed to either complain about their day or spout off AA cliches and acronyms. The topic didn’t get touched and they all ended it like an infomercial

It was just all soooooo cringe I got my fill of remembering why I left and exited the meeting.

I don’t know why I lurk on AA subreddit…

I’ve been lurking that sub since I don’t drink much at all anymore to remind myself what I dealt with trying to go to AA the first few months so I continue to stay on the straight and narrow.

With that said now it’s just rage baiting myself and I’m trying my best to avoid it. Just became such a routine to lurk and remember why it pissed me for so much.

Stuck up for this guy but I’m sure I’ll just be banned for suggesting something else. I don’t enjoy r/stopdrinking either but I think a lot of people come to the AA sub looking for support when they will just get flooded with propaganda. Hopefully this OP feels better

Vision of the Future…

Is it worth a read? I’m getting a little sick of every character ‘frowning’ or other phrases Zahn likes to overuse to the point of stopping in the middle of the precious title ‘specter of the past’ or whatever it’s called. Pretty boring

Is the 2nd book better? It’s like 600 pages!

I rarely break 100…

Went out on Father’s Day last Sunday and just played nine but it was the best I’ve ever shot. I literally only used my 5 wood and putter. Even on 75 yard approach shots on the par 4’s I just 1/4 swung the wood and did far better than I would have done with a pitching or sand wedge.

I know it’s not conventional but shanking a pitching wedge and trying to recover not only added strokes for me but I think mentally it was making me play worse after.

I’m not shooting for the senior tour or anything so I think I’m gonna stick with this odd strat next time I play a full 18

‘Keep coming back it works if you work it’

How creepy is it that all meetings end with this. AA just weirds me out. I’ve been sober for a bit and think I’m mentally doing better than ever in regards to drinking but I shiver thinking about being so desperate and alone that I gave AA a try. So happy I didnt cave I knew it was fucking looney from the beginning

AA’ers in rehabs…

When I was trying to recover (consider myself recovered now) I went to a few rehabs and the funniest people are the thumpers that are still going to rehab and pushing AA. One guy when I went to Betty Ford was sponsoring another guy as both were in rehab together lol. Last detox I went to a guy gave me a book he wrote that was centered around AA trying to get me to go once we got out.

Maybe AA isn’t working for ya if you’re back in rehab for the 10th time. Chopping it up to a disease they are living with for the rest of their lives 🙄

How’s my 3 day split?

Was tired of doing a PPL and trying to fit all my chest/shoulder exercises in one day. So I just do more volume on my chest and shoulder days.

Back/Bi — 9 back, 6 biceps

•	Legs — 9

•	Chest/Tri — 12 chest, 6 triceps

•	Rest

•	Back/Bi — 9 back, 6 biceps

•	Legs — 9

•	Shoulders/Tri — 12 shoulders,6 tri

•	Rest

Numbers are sets. Doing abs on Rest days

Spiritual awakening…

I lurk AA subs mostly to remind myself what I would be suggested to do again if I drink and one of the topics are when you had your spiritual awakening.

All the responses were such bullshit. Like each person had some moment where they spoke with God just because they worked the steps. It’s fascinating how delusional people can be to convince themselves to stay sober.

7 week cut…

I’m 6’3 and went from 187 to 179. I ate pretty healthy from the jump but just scaled back how much I ate. Got 170-180g of protein and lifted PPL 5-6 days a week. Still looking to drop to maybe 175 then just slow bulk the rest of my life haha.

What do you guys think?
