LONDON — Buckingham Palace privately asked whether King Charles III should proceed as planned with the ceremonial state opening of parliament on Wednesday, as Keir Starmer faces a mounting leadership crisis that threatens to force him out of office.
According to people familiar with the matter, granted anonymity to speak freely, the king’s team made clear in conversation with Starmer’s officials the importance of protecting the monarch from any impression that he is being used for political ends.
“The Palace view is ‘we do not want to be any part of this conversation — do not bring us into it,’” said one of the people familiar with the matter.
Hello fellow Cemu Redditors, I wanted to make everyone aware of a malware issue. The following message is directly from the Cemu developers. I am not a dev, I am relaying the message along with the link for the original PSA.
-------------------
SECURITY PSA - For Cemu emulator 2.6
It has come to our attention that from 6th May to today (12th May) the AppImage and Ubuntu zip assets of Cemu 2.6 on our github were compromised by a pro-Russian threat actor.
If you are a Windows or MacOS user you are not affected. If you are a flatpak user you are also not affected.
The compromised releases are:
Cemu-2.6-x86_64.AppImage
cemu-2.6-ubuntu-22.04-x64.zip
Only if you have downloaded these between 6th May and 12th May from our github page. This also affects third party launchers which usually directly download from our repository. As of writing this, the compromised releases have been restored to their good version.
-------FAQ-------
1. How do I know if I am affected?
There are currently no known reliable traces that you can check for, but you should assume you are affected if you downloaded and ran either Cemu-2.6-x86_64.AppImage or cemu-2.6-ubuntu-22.04-x64.zipbetween 6th May and 12th May. The malware has a special exception where it does bypass the harmful code on the first run, so the risk of damage is lower if you only ran compromised Cemu builds once. If your locale is Russian then the malware does nothing.
The following files and directories may be created by the malware:
/tmp/.transformers
/usr/bin/pgmonitor.py
~/.local/bin/pgmonitor.py
/etc/systemd/system/pgsql-monitor.service
~/.config/systemd/user/pgsql-monitor.service
/tmp/kubectl
The absence of these files does not prove that you are safe.
2. What can I do if I am affected?
The blunt answer is that we don't know the full capabilities of the malware. The safest bet is to do a clean install of your OS.
At the very minimum you should delete the affected binaries and reset all your passwords, GitHub tokens, SSH keys or anything that is used to authenticate with services. The malware contains a pretty sophisticated password stealer for many services. Most of them are related to programming or cloud providers in some way. We think this is to help the malware authors to further infect other software.
You should also block IP 83.142.209.194 (even if you are not affected) because this is used as a hardcoded remote endpoint.
We will update this document as more information becomes available.
Special note for Israeli users:
If the malware determines that your location is Israel (it does this via locale and timezone checks) then it has a 1:6 chance that it will play a loud siren sound and run rm -rf /, essentially attempting to wipe your filesystem. This is bad, but since rm does not actively overwrite the file data, you should be able to recover your data with some effort. But this is only true as long as you don't write new data to the affected drive(s).
Do not reinstall your OS to the same drive or format it until you have attempted a file recovery first. The exact steps for this go beyond the scope of this PSA, but if you need help feel free to DM me on Discord (Exzap) or shoot me a message on reddit (u/Exzap).
3. How did this happen?
We are still tracking the exact chain of events down but the leading theory is that a collaborator on our team ran a compromised python package which stole his GitHub token. This was then used to reupload a compromised version of the two linux binaries in the v2.6 (latest) release of Cemu. We have taken measures to prevent this from happening in the future.
4. Where can I learn more?
We will update this document as we learn more.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was threatened by a man in a balaclava near his new home, The Telegraph can reveal.
The former prince was out walking his dogs around 7.30pm on Wednesday near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk when a man got out of his car and made his way towards the Duke of York while shouting at him.
The Telegraph understands that the man had been sitting in his car when he saw Mr Mountbatten-Windsor about 50 yards away.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, who was accompanied by a member of his private security detail, rushed towards his own car, which was parked nearby, and drove away at speed as the suspect allegedly tried to sprint after him.

The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged dad has moved back to the US from the Philippines to be fitted with a state-of-the art prosthetic limb to help him walk again.
Prince William pays up to £7 million in income tax a year, it can be revealed. The figure puts the heir to the throne in the top 0.002 per cent of taxpayers in the UK.
For years, William has resisted calls to reveal his tax bill, quoting the rights shared by any private citizen. The majority of his income comes from the more than £20 million a year he receives from the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate of land worth about £1.1 billion bestowed on every heir to the throne since the 14th century.
However, he has been under increased pressure over transparency on tax after an investigation by the Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatcheswhich revealed that the Duchy of Cornwall and the Duchy of Lancaster, which is awarded to the monarch, make millions by charging the army, navy, NHS and schools to use their land, rivers and seashores. Some of the leases have since been renegotiated.
A suspected far-Right extremist is in custody for plotting to kill two Dutch princesses, including the future Queen of the Netherlands.
Prosecutors believe the unnamed 33-year-old was targeting Princess Catharina-Amalia, 22, the heir apparent to the Dutch throne, and her sister Princess Alexia, 20, the second in line.
The suspect was allegedly found with two axes with the words “Alexia”, “Mossad”, which is Israel’s intelligence agency, and the Nazi salute “Sieg Heil” engraved on them.
He was also reported to have a handwritten note with the words “Amalia”, “Alexia” and “bloodbath” written on it when he was arrested in The Hague in February, Dutch authorities revealed.
The suspect faces a preliminary court hearing on Monday morning before a later court date in The Hague.
Earl Spencer’s girlfriend has insisted she is not a homewrecker amid accusations the couple embarked on an affair.
Cat Jarman, a Norwegian archaeologist, said claims that their romance began while they were both still married were “hurtful” and untrue.
The Earl’s former wife, Countess Spencer, accused her husband of 13 years of having an affair with Ms Jarman, 43, in a high-profile legal battle.
“Both marriages were over when Charles and I began a relationship and had been for some time,” Ms Jarman told the Mail on Sunday.
“These accusations are very difficult to disprove anyway, but it was the way it was done – putting it in legal documents, where it could be reported without risk of being accused of libel. That was so hurtful and anyone who knows me knows it wasn’t true.
“I think I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it is very hurtful when there isn’t the slightest element of truth in it. It just feels really unnecessary, and the fact it was so public. It’s just upsetting.”
Ms Jarman had lodged a legal claim against the Countess, who divorced the Earl in December, for misuse of private information in October 2024.
Ms Jarman alleged that the Countess shared her multiple sclerosis diagnosis with the Earl, 61, and others without her consent. The case was settled for an undisclosed sum in December with no admission of liability.
In a statement read out at the High Court to mark the end of legal proceedings this week, she said she remained “profoundly distressed” by the disclosure of her diagnosis.
Ms Jarman met the Earl, the brother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, while working on a dig at his ancestral home of Althorp for a Channel 4 documentary in 2021.
She said she and her husband, Tom Jarman, had been separated “for years” but kept it quiet for the sake of their children.
Friends for ‘a long time’
During the litigation, the Countess accused the Earl, with whom she shares a daughter, of having an affair with Ms Jarman before informing her by text message in March 2024 that their marriage was over and then “completely refusing” to discuss it in person.
Ms Jarman, laying out her own timeline, said she and the Earl had been friends for “a long time” before it blossomed into romance.
“Neither of us was looking for anything else,” she said. “We really weren’t. I think that was the key. And the timing was significant for both of us. We both needed something new, but maybe didn’t realise we did.”
In court, the Countess alleged the affair “became clear” when she compared notes with Ms Jarman’s ex-husband who then told her that his wife had multiple sclerosis.
Ms Jarman said the Countess’s subsequent decision to disclose her condition had a significant impact. She said: “The whole thing had a devastating effect on our whole family. It’s taken a long time to put together the pieces.
“It wasn’t right that she shared private medical information. Sharing something [like an MS diagnosis] should be a matter of choice.”
After her legal case, the Earl praised his partner’s “quiet courage” in suing his ex-wife, as it emerged he had funded his new partner’s case with a loan.
“Cat has handled every aspect of this with grace, integrity and quiet courage,” he said. “She sought only what was her right: the same right to privacy that every person deserves.”
