Diving

Hey all, not sure if anyone will have any suggestions as it’s a bit niche, but here goes.

We’re doing the Cunard QE Western Caribbean cruise in November (Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Honduras, Mexico x2).

Has anyone ever booked a dive trip in one of the ports of call? I know there is no official excursions for diving apart from the supplied air ones, but I wondered if there were any local diving companies who take advantage of the cruise ships coming in and co-ordinate dive trips etc?

I have dived in Cozumel before, so ideally one of the other stops, but would love if anyone had any advice!

Room Allocation

Has anyone ever had any of the ‘bendy’ rooms (6.049/052) in this instance?

Thoughts? We have previously been in a room towards the front and we quite liked it because there wasn’t much traffic passing by, even though they’re considered the cheapest rooms.

We watched a video tour of 6.052 specifically and the balcony looked small, but I’m not sure if it was just the video

(Queen Elizabeth for reference)

Shrimp Marinade

I’m going to a BBQ grill thing tomorrow and taking shrimp (prawns) as my contribution.

I have some big shell on shrimp and some medium/large shelled and deveined shrimp for skewers.

I’m going to do one spicy lime marinade and one garlic lemony herby marinade.

Is shell on vs off better suited to one flavour profile as to another or does it matter at all?

Cunard with a Baby

tl;dr: is the Cunard night nursery service any good?

We are looking at doing a cruise with a Cunard. We have a baby who will be about 13 months when we go.

We have done a Cunard cruise before pre-baby, so we know how it’s not a young people kind of vibe, but my husband and I are old souls.

We know they have a night nursery, which would be perfect as we can have a few hours, and a few drinks, but we still get to take baby and explore.

He’s already pretty well travelled at 8 months, so again, the travel element isn’t too worrying for us.

We have looked at other cruise lines, but the only other ones with things for his age are RC and DCL, and they are both paid for services, so Cunard seems like the best option anyway(?)

Has anyone used the night nursery? How did you find it? I can only find pretty old reports, so don’t know if it has changed in recent years.

Special Assistance

I put in a special assistance request on the 16th June for a flight on 19th July. How long should I expect to wait before hearing back?

Bisharp Evolution

I’m trying to do the Bisharp evo task. It’s to defeat 15 steel or dark type raid bosses.

I just did a power spot raid and it didn’t add to the count - I thought they did, is this a glitch, or is it just ‘normal’ raids? Do shadow raids count?

Bassinet Seat

Trying to book the bassinet to fly with my six month old and told I have to pay to reserve the bulkhead seat to be able to use the bassinet. This doesn’t sound right, can someone confirm?

Grocery Shopping

Looking for advice on what is probably a really simple solution but I can’t think of it.

I have a 6 month old, but he is a big boy (24lb). When I used to go grocery shopping I would put him in the carrier and then push the trolley, kind of obvious. As he got a bit heavier I would put him in the carrier but kind of rest him on the handlebar(?) a bit so that I wasn’t taking his full weight as I pushed the troller around.

However, he is basically now at the point where I can’t carry him in the carrier. He isn’t quite at the point of being able to sit in the trolley as he isn’t quite sitting yet (he’s far more interested in standing, sitting is boring).

When we go out on walks we use the stroller, but I don’t think navigating the stroller and the trolley is a feasible solution without running someone / something over.

Any tips on how I can do the grocery shopping with him?

Seating Allocation

Today Delta have managed to outdo themselves.

I was unable to reserve seats because our flight was ticketed by Virgin, so we have been auto-assigned seats in Comfort. I bought a seat for my six month old so he can sit in his car seat on the plane.

In doing so, they have seated my six month old baby on his own, and they are unable to change it. So the advice of the customer service agent was to ‘ask fellow passengers nicely’ if they will move so I can sit with my baby.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? I feel bad asking fellow passengers to move if that’s the seat they’ve paid for but at the same time what am I supposed to do?
