His Majesty Emperor Yoshiro has summoned you to his quarters to discuss the recent failure of strategy at the battle you commanded.

  1. "Your Majesty!" (bow your head respectfully) "What can I do for you?"

  2. [Rhetoric – Godly 16] Try to convince His Majesty that your failure was not that bad.

How would the dynamics of the Clone Wars be different if Jango Fett survived Geonosis?

Would he be a loose end who'd need to be tied up by Palpatine/Dooku? There's a comic where Jango kills a deserted clone before AOTC with no remorse so he probably wouldn't have issues with that. But would the clones have issue with it (ie questioning why their donor is fighting with the enemy), especially the longer Jango lived?

Not sure if Jango would spill the beans if offered enough money since he said "discretion is my specialty" but the fact that he was paid over 5 million credits by Dooku...could the Republic bribe him for evem more? Could Jango apply for asylum or go into hiding eventually or depending on how the war was playing out?

Boba would probably develop into a more seasoned bounty hunter for sure. Though where he'd come into play if Jango is killed during the Clone Wars (especially if killed by internal Dooku/Sidious machinations which he would eventually find out since Boba would have all the motivation to do so) is also an interesting thing to consider

Anyone else feel like you're not fully grabbing onto life and its causing you to not live fully?

I feel like somebody not fully grasping onto life and what I want and claiming something for myself, and then being a dissatisfied mess as life and time passes me by.

Its like going to an ice cream truck, wanting 2 scoops of ice cream, and only getting 1 scoop because...i dont know...I dont feel worthy? Then you beat yourself up about only getting that one scoop instead of the 2 you wanted that you totally could have gotten if you just went with it.

And yet getting that one scoop is an accomplishment in itself! But instead you cringe and regret and hemming and hawing about choosing not to get what you wanted when it was within your grasp

The Dark Night of Mathematics

I'd love to hear Grant's thoughts on this essay. It touches on why I feel such unease with the useage of AI and LLMs, and this mathematician's perspective so poignantly presents how mathematics has an innately human quality in accessing the divine and how AI is threatening to close this off for the rest of us

I'd love the perspectives of other math enthusiasts here too! I've learned so much from Grant and how he shares the beauty of mathematics and I'm sure this would strike close to his heart.

If Joe Biden nominated Doug Jones as Attorney General instead of Merrick Garland, how would that have affected how soon Trump would have been indicted or even jailed? What other cabinet members could have been switched to increase the Biden admin's effectiveness?

Given that a major failing of Garland was his refusal to act quickly on Trump, would Jones have done things differently?

Stop Killing Games together with Amnesty International, Mozilla, Proton, Reporters without Borders scored their first victory!

Good news everyone!

SKG and SKI signed a letter opposing the UK government’s efforts to block VPNs, and we succeeded! This is a major victory for the continued viability of VPNs in the UK.

The letter was signed alongside respected organizations and companies including Mozilla, Proton, Reporters Without Borders, Amnesty International, and several major VPN providers.

We’re also excited to share that our first major SKI partner meetup has now been coordinated! It brought together a group of serious experts from around the world (see attached images).

Why are we posting this here?

This is a continuation of the letter we signed with Mozilla and others back in May opposing the UK’s Online Safety Act.

If you remember that post, we explained that laws restricting the internet would make independent software, Linux-based ecosystems, community launchers, modding tools, and private server hosting significantly harder to maintain.

Similarly, mandatory age checks for software would:
- Make hosting private servers more cumbersome and burdensome.
- Make communities like our Discord server and subreddit less free and open.
- Create opportunities for lobbying groups such as the ESA to further misrepresent and campaign against preservation efforts.

Ultimately, these measures would compromise our ability to make effective end-of-life plans for video games. In practice, they could make private game servers functionally illegal: the very outcome some industry groups have been advocating for. They want to make their faulty reasoning into legal reality.

What’s next?
There are even more important developments happening with SKG, but we’ll share those when the time is right. (don’t want the lobby to know what we're gonna do next 🙃)

Can we please stop with the change.org petitions?

If you want to make differences like Stop Killing Games, petition your governments and talk to your representatives about what you care about: ✂️ Stop Killing Games uses government petitions, not change.org petitions

Per the post from Moritz:

>Making petitions to get discs back is not only, unfortunately, going to do nothing, it distracts from the very reason this is being done in the first place. You want your discs back? Help us force them to stop taking away our ownership

Remember what lobbying fundamentally is: Having a personal relationship with a politician that you talk with frequently. It's not the exclusive purview of corporations and corporate conglomerate organizations to be talking to/with politicians. We can do so as individuals, much like how SKG itself is in touch with politicians to advocate for SKG.

A change dot org petition is as effective as a letter to Santa. But a letter to your representative? To your city council? A peoples' lobby to their government? Imagine the good that could be accomplished if even 1/3 of change dot org signers contacted a representative or member of government. We'd live in a much better world than the one we're in today for sure.

Basically what happened to Stop Killing Games in the EU

A consumer movement that's trying to have end-of-life plans for future online-only games and challenge the legality of publishers destroying games people paid for had a European Citizens' Initiative with almost 1.3 million signatures that the European Commission recently responded to that said, "We won't propose new law, we'll have an industry code of conduct and clarify what customers' rights are": https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/news/commission-will-engage-industry-following-european-citizens-initiative-disabling-videogames

The full text communication is here: https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/document/download/75d642bc-6ff5-4713-b1cf-14f4aaf15869_en?filename=C_2026_4110_EN.pdf

And that was less than 2 weeks after an invite-only meeting with members of the Commission and the game lobby Video Games Europe and figures from large gaming companies, which included the CEO of Ubisoft and CEO of Video Games Europe: https://bsky.app/profile/stopkillinggames.bsky.social/post/3mndsgredbk2d

"Game not over"

But ironically, it is not over yet. They're planning to go through European Parliament to amend Stop Killing Games to the Digital Fairness Act. They have majority support from several MEPs, so they're in a good positioned to get an amendment passed in the DFA.

Meanwhile their California Bill, the Protect Our Games Act, has cleared the state assembly and is in the state senate where it has to pass before it can get signed into law.

So if you want to still make a difference, contact your CA state senator or Member of European Parliament

I have avoidant personality disorder and I have never been in a relationship (26M). Am I at risk of creating the kinds of situations people are talking about on here in a relationship?

I've just stumbled across this subreddit and I'm seeing all the selfishness and egoism and narcissism that's on display in a lot of the situations I'm reading on here. Yet, I feel like, "That could never be me" and that I would never want to cause someone such pain and suffering. And yet the more I reflect on it, the more intrigued I'm feeling, like those are the extremes that avoidance can take me if I let it. I have some self-esteem and self-doubt issues so I don't want to internalize or become that selfish immature asshole that so many of you have been with. With life in general, I feel like I am not absolutely avoidant, only conditionally avoidant, moreso with problems that feel too large for me to handle.

Regardless, am I at risk? This feels like something I could bring up in therapy that might be interesting

Why is the Venator named in-game as a Venator, but the Providence-class carrier is just called a Dreadnought?

Maybe it's just me reading too deeply, but I notice the Venator-class star destroyer is called as such by both the CIS and Republic, but there's no mention of the Providence-class carrier in-game other than just being a dreadnought. Shouldn't it be called a Providence carrier rather than a dreadnought? It'd only be fair if the Venator is named by its class in-game.

“It’s Game Over for This Abusive Practice”-Parliament Backs Stop Killing Games

A cross-party group of MEPs has issued a call for legislation in support of the European Citizens’ Initiative Stop Destroying Video Games.

The ask of Stop Killing Games has repeatedly been misrepresented as a call for eternal server support, endless updates, mandatory private servers, or source-code releases. That was never the demand.

The actual demand is simple: when consumers pay for a game, publishers should not be allowed to deliberately make it unusable after support ends without providing reasonable means for continued operation.

For months, we have explained this to institutions, lawyers, developers, consumer advocates, and elected representatives. Now it is time to move from clarification to solutions.

Tiemo Wölken, the MEP leading the call for us, said:

>“When nearly 1.3 million EU citizens are calling on the European Union to take action, it is our obligation to listen and to act. We cannot ignore this overwhelming call to action. The plenary debate a few weeks ago sent a clear signal: This Citizen Initiative has broad cross-party support in the European Parliament. When consumers pay for a game, they invest more than just money. They spend their time on it, make memories, develop passions and make real friends for life along the way. It is indefensible that publishers should have the right to simply pull the plug on these games at any time, and destroy cultural heritage in the process. With this letter, we reiterate our position: It’s Game Over for this abusive practice.”

This is the route we have been working toward for months. The Commission has heard the explanations. Parliament has heard the explanations. The public has now seen why those explanations were necessary.

The next step is not another round of pretending the demand is unclear. The next step is working on solutions.

That means legislation that protects consumers from having paid-for games deliberately disabled after support ends, while making clear that publishers are not being asked to provide perpetual services. It means serious discussion of reasonable end-of-life options where feasible. And it means using the upcoming Digital Fairness Act as the vehicle to turn this principle into law.

Nearly 1.3 million citizens asked the EU to act. On the 16th of this month, the Commission will officially answer the European Citizens’ Initiative.

That answer will show how seriously the Commission takes its citizens. Parliament, at least, is standing ready to act on their behalf and without it.

(Side note on the UK situation: we see it, and we are monitoring it closely. It is not yet fully clear whether this requires us to step in, but we are following developments.)
