Positioning of window post planning approval

Have had work started on a loft conversion, rear dormer and two front velux type windows. Was a pain getting through planning, as it was initially rejected and then granted on appeal. We’re in a new build property with all permitted development removed, even changing patios or garden sheds or any kind of AC installation technically needs planning permission (not that anyone has bothered).

We were given two conditions:

  1. Start work within 3 years of decision
  2. “…shall be carried out in accordance with the
    following approved plans”

The plans have one of the front lights positioned for stairwell, high up on the roof, and the second provides light to a new room in the loft space.

Feel like I know the answer already, but is there any leeway in positioning both windows so that they provide light to the room? Or is the condition stringent in that it has to be per the plans?

What kind of cross training does everyone do?

Poler for just over two years now, and also train hoop/lyra, and aerial silks once a week too.

Just wondering what people do for cross training outside the studio. Training history is mostly sports specific for the past 20 years (I’m 36), with powerlifting type stuff chucked in for fun.

But with kids, work, and not wanting to impact aerial training, looking for something that has a bit more carry over that can be done outside the studio

🙃

Question a bit different from the norm, just finished Isles of the Emberdark, any recommendations for something similar?

Tagged as all spoilers just to be safe. Hopefully this question is allowed, if not sorry! Just finished Isles of the Emberdark and it’s probably up there in my top 3 Sanderson novels.

I’ve read and reread everything Cosmere related so not opposed to starting a reread, but I was really taken by Dusk’s story and the snippets of Cakoban’s adventure. Any recommendations on books with a similar adventure/sailing type theme?

Elbow/bicep pain triggered by aerial training

Very recently started getting an ache on the inside of my elbows, looks to be from bottom of my bicep and down across the elbow (inside only) to the top of my forearm. Pic attached.

https://ibb.co/8LxsHzfW

Most of my training currently is aerial based, so pole, aerial silks, aerial hoop. This is supplemented by an upper body calisthenics style workout, weighted lower body, and then a “hybrid” full body workout - weighted legs, then 3 sets of a row movement and a pike pushups variation.

there has been no incident where I’ve thought “ah fuck, that’s an injury”. I’ll be fine during warm up and through most of the class when it’ll start to flare up. While there is an ache, flexing at the elbow hurts. Holding a weighted flex position with the arm will eventually hurt, so think cooking with a wok or carrying my small dog (8kg).

Haven’t started anything yet, only had 3 instances so far, so taking it as a warning sign. Has worn off about 20 minutes after starting when flares up from exercising.

I am after a couple of books for my holiday, one fantasy, one non fiction

I’m after a couple of books to take on holiday to read pool side and on the plane.

The first, I’m after a fantasy novel / series. I’ve read and enjoyed everything Terry Pratchett, Brando Sando, Lord of the rings and associated works, powder mage trilogy, Wheel of time. Probably more but can’t put a name to them now. Ideally a series or some kind of shared universe.

Second, not sure how to contextualise this, but looking for something ideally along the lines of Bill Bryson short history of nearly everything. Something easy to read but will still scratch that itch to learn new stuff. If nothing like that, I’ve got an interest across science, astronomy, physics, ancient history. Caesar by Adrian goldsworthy was a favourite.

Looking for advice on handstands

There is a ton of info out there, too much if you ask me which has got me stuck. So looking for advice on handstands.

Do you have any recommended programmes, YouTube workouts, guides or anything?

Cheers!

Looking for some help with ship balance

Airship has 3 balloon compartments, front, middle and back. Front and back are the same volume (643) with two burners in each placed in the same position; One burner set to max and the second a lower output volume that will be used for trim. In the middle compartment, I have 8 burners to split the 1616 volume across - an attempt to be able to finely tune altitude.

When the two that are set to max output are turned on, I get an initial lift but front heavy, even though centre of mass is as on the pictures. Is it due to being slightly closer to front lift point that makes the back end raise higher?

Last diagram just shows I can balance it with the two burners - rear set to 385, front on max - which gives a gimbal output of 0.8 degrees, not ideal, but certainly not terrible.

In either case, I become unbalanced again when the middle burners are activated, rising from the rear of the ship.

Seen a few posts around using the steering wheel and propellers to control an airships direction

I can add a video of the mechanism in action if people want, but seen a few posts asking how to use a steering wheel to control an airships direction via propellers (do need two propellers for this to work...)

Absolutely didn't invent this, but comparators can output based on a torsion springs twist. Might be a more compact way, but for the purpose of my ship, this is what fits in the space I have available. In short we have linked receivers being powered by comparators that will read the twist of the torsion spring. The linked receivers are transmit to a gearshift in my propellers powerchain which allows me to reverse the direction of one propeller and let me turn in that direction.

You need to power the torsion spring to stop it untwisting without turning the wheel back to the starting point, otherwise once you've stopped turning, it'll go back to it's starting state.

As an extra mechanism of feedback, I have the linked receivers also powering some lights in the cockpit, which gives another visual indication of which way the wheel is currently turned (and looks pretty neat).

Does a loft conversion count as a storey?

Pretty much the title. Looking to put in a planning application (oldish new build with PD removed) and just skimming the council guidance on developments. Their guide is for new developments, but I have heard from others that they apply it to extensions on already built structures

Got out the pool and noticed this

Is the watch cooked? Hadn’t noticed any gaps or indications the battery might have swelled and separated part of the case.

Bit annoying had a series 2 with no issues until the series 8 came out and haven’t had this half as long.

Looking for some simple mob mods

Starting to play Create Chronicles: the endventure on 1.21.1 (neoforge) and would like to have a bit more life into the world.

Looking for some mods that will add mobs across land and sea (and air?) that will make the world feel a bit more wild without overpopulating it with loads of random stuff.

Preferably neutral/friendly or some balanced hostile mobs to add a bit of variety. Bonus if they’re biome dependent.

Location is Berkshire if that helps, and it was about inch and a half in length

Looking to add some kettlebell training in to supplement and maybe replace other aspects of my training.

What kind of programming do you use? And what kind of resources would you recommend?
