In NJ, if you are in an accident that is not your fault, will your rates still go up?

I was in a bad accident in NJ in 2023 with significant injuries (I was rear ended at a red light so 100% not at fault) and my insurance definitely went up but I assumed that was because it’s a no fault state and I used my PIP.

My husband accident scratched a car in a hospital parking lot and left his contact info on the car. The owner of the car reached out and he gave her his insurance info but also offered to pay out of pocket since our insurance went up with my not at fault accident and we weren’t sure if in NJ both sides insurance goes up or if that’s only in the case of using the PIP.

Even with my accident our rate is pretty reasonable at $1700 for 6 months for both of us because we drive older cars and only drive like 5 miles to work, I think my husband is just embarrassed because he’s 47 and this is his first accident. The other driver already filed a claim, I’m just curious if I was right in my thinking that it could raise the other drivers rates as well. Ty.

Would you have wanted to learn about common back injuries in high school?

Hi everyone - I am a hs teacher and have had minor back issues my whole life after growing up as an athlete, but was also in a bad car accident in 2023 that ended in me needing 4 spinal surgeries, all in different places. I can’t say I’ve tried it all but I’ve tried a heck of a lot and learned a lot about the spine and I think of your hear, you know just how fast a back injury can stop you in your tracks.

So I advise a club where student compete in a bunch of different academic events but one event is centered around bringing light to and educating people on a specific health issues. My students suggested doing a lesson for the health classes on back basics - like how to take good care of your back, common injuries like herniated discs, and what treatment of back injuries can look like ect.

Is that something you think you would have found informative in high school or probably just go over your head? I always get sad when I run into essentially teenagers in here who don’t know where to turn for help because I think of it like one of my students being in pain.

If we were to put together a 40 min lesson, what would you have wanted to know? What topics do you think are important to touch on? I’ll take any and all advice to pass on to my students to see if they want to further pursue this topic.

Thanks everyone!

One of my students works at my pharmacy

Hey friends, I’m a hs teacher. I’ve posted her quite a bit, I was in a bad car accident going on 3 years ago and have had 12 surgeries and by the grace of my pain management dr I’m still dragging myself into work. I do really love my job, but of course working through pain sucks.

Anyway I started getting alot of pushback from my local Walgreens (no one is shocked) and my pain management dr thankfully was like “absolutely not, I’m not having them hold up your medication” and switched me to a mom and pop pharmacy that is closer to me.

I go to pick up my first rx and it’s one of my students at the register. Not a kid I’m close with, she was just in a club I run, going into her senior year. She was there again today when my husband went to pick up my meds because I had a cervical fusion a week ago.

Are pharmacy techs told to not share medical info? I’m guessing they are but she’s still a high school student. My students are aware I have had a lot of injuries from a bad car accident but I obviously don’t share that I take daily controlled meds. The only person I talk about it with is my husband. This new pharmacy has been good so far, so I need to find a new one? I am optimistic post fusion I may be able to finally get off controlled meds but we all know how those hopes can go most of the time.

Thanks!

I actually have a good post op hospital story to share

Hi friends - I had a cervical adr removed on Tuesday and replaced with a 1 level fusion at c5/c6. I thought it would be out patient but because my BP was bouncing around quite a bit they kept me inpatient for the night for pain control. The last time I spent the night in the hospital was 2010. I have read many stories here and was really scared to be kept in the hospital - like mostly that I wouldn’t get meds and be an annoyance to the staff.

They were so so so on top of their shit. When they dropped me in my room they said I could have pain meds every 4 hours but I needed to ask for them. I was nervous about asking but during the day shift they had meds for me within 20 mins each time I asked. I also got IV antibiotics, steroids and dilauded alternated with Tylenol and oxycodone and a muscle relaxer. The night team was where it was at tho. The nurse came to me at the 4 hour mark to check if I needed anything, and was so nice, she just wanted to help me get some sleep. And because I was there I didn’t have to manage food which was nice for the first 24 hours post op. My only complaint was I wish they gave me one more dose on the way out because my last dose was at 5:30am and I didn’t leave until 11 but my husband brought my meds from home and I took them in the car. If I don’t move the pain isn’t too bad, it most hurts to change from laying down to getting up. I’m in a hard collar for 2 weeks. But I wanted to give credit where credits due, the nurses were very kind and although I was in pain because it’s surgery they were on top of their end within their limits.

But also thanks for this group giving me the heads up, I made sure I had my post op meds in hand before surgery and had them in my belongings during the stay if I needed them.

Are vein clinics the new insurance scam?

I have had a lot of medical treatments in my life and lately, every doctor seems to with push or be advertising vein treatments. My husband and I go to the same ortho and he recommended both of us to be seen at their vein clinic and the reason the dr gave to me seemed so BS that I was like I’m good, but my husband was like let me give it a try.

He said he got the ultrasound of his veins, they said he needed 6 procedures, all to be done at different appts. He would go, get set up by a tech all the way to the tech inserting the needle, the dr would come in and push the plunger and then leave and the tech would remove the needle and put on the bandaid. At the end of the 6 weeks they tried to tell him 2 didn’t take and he needed them repeated and at that point he was like this isn’t working so I’m not going back. He felt absolutely no difference.

We looked at the EOBs from these visits and the clinic was charging $65,000….to have 1 shot into a vein. Our insurance paid about $3600 which still seems INSANE for maybe 10 mins of care max. We thankfully didn’t pay anything out of pocket but this seems like such an insane insurance grift I was just curious if anyone on the insurance side had thoughts on it?

ETA: I should have added this initially but I do have one friend who had it done and it WAS incredibly helpful. So maybe I should say more is it being incredibly over rx’d. I get a lot of people at work who come vent about medical stuff because they know I’ve had like 25 surgeries and 80% are being rx’d vein treatments. And they really don’t know why.

How would you handle an untenured teacher with health issues?

I am going into my 19th year teaching a HS elective but 4th year at my current school.

3 months into working at my new school, I was hit at a red light by someone on their phone at 50 mph on my way to parent teacher conferences. I broke several ribs, sustained injuries to several areas of my spine and most of my major joints. My accident was in November and my main dr originally wrote me out for the rest of the school year to be evaluated as we went through recovery. I was lucky my new district allowed me to carry over 30 sick days from my prior district so I was paid for almost 2 months then took 1 month unpaid. Then decided with my dr I wanted to try going back to work. It was obviously hard and I needed to wear a back brace for about a month, but I made it work. I still advised a club as well. But I still missed 3 months of school.

Year two - we realized conservative treatment wasn’t working for a lot of my injuries. I had hip surgery in the summer so no days missed. But I ended up having 2 lumbar surgeries and a cervical surgery. They were minor as back surgery goes but still back surgery. I put each surgery against a break, so I believe I missed about 4 weeks of school total for surgery and had a few days scattered for procedures but luckily my pain management dr knows I am very stressed about missing work and gets me in on her 1 Saturday a month.

Year 3 - I went over my allotted PTO days by 4. For the year I had knee surgery in the summer, a minor elbow surgery, hip surgery over Xmas break, wrist surgery over a 2 day Feb break, and then a second elbow surgery right before the end of the year so I just came in the lest few half days of school in a sling.

So now we’re summer before my tenure year, I had to have one of the hip surgeries repeated and i’m recovering from that now and what we expect to be the last surgery in a 1 level cervical fusion. As much as I assumed it would be a long recovery, my dr said he’s fine with me going back at 2 weeks post op and I’m currently waiting on insurance approval. I may have it in time to not miss any school (we don’t go back until Sept 2). I don’t have anything else on the list that needs surgical addressing for the first time in basically 2 years straight, but realistically I will always need some maintenance with back procedures.

I don’t have official accommodations in place but I didn’t need much other than wearing sneakers, using a rolling stool as needed for working with students and I wear a tens unit or ice pack under my clothes at times. I have no reason to think I won’t continue to improve, i made pretty big strides once I started having the individual injuries addressed surgically. My observations are strong and I’ve been highly effective for 3 years in a row.

Ok so to the question. My principal was awesome and always told me to take care of me, but retired in June. I am frankly terrified that a new principal is going to look at me like why would be tenure this teacher with all these issues. Granted I could just not say anything to them, but obviously the other admin in the building are aware of the rough 3 years I’ve had. I have disability insurance if I am let go as well as a bodily injury claim in the works that if I did lose my job (I had to quit all my side hustles because it was too much) my lawyer said he would hire an employment expert who would testify to my ability to continue to work for my bodily injury claim. But I really love my job, I like my coworkers, it’s close to home so that helps with my driving anxiety and I’ve taught a 6th period all 3 years so the money is very good.

So what would your advice be? Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

Is this gift appropriate for a Muslim student?

Hi I teach fashion design in the United States. I have a Muslim student I have had for 3 years in fashion design class and she is exceptionally talented. When she designs for herself, her designs are modest but when she makes things that she isn’t wearing she will show arms and legs. I bought her a gift for her birthday since I’ve had her for years, a nice set of markers and a fashion sketch book. The sketch book is called modern fashion illustration - the coloring book by holly nichols. The artist does a good job at representing all different types of bodies/nationalities/religions but there is only one image showing a modest style dress and hijab and most of the other fashion depicted is not modest. I don’t know if her mother would find the gift offensive. Should I scrap it and just give her the set of markers?

Got stitches removed from arthroscopic procedure and it’s bleeding

41F, 215, alternating Tylenol and NSAID following a hip arthroscopy.

I had stitches removed at my 2 week post op this morning and noted they looked a little janky. The dr put some steroid and a steristrip on it. I go home and sit down to eat lunch with my husband and felt my shorts and they were bled through. My husband does EMR as a fire fighter so he cleaned it up, we put new steristrips and a bandaid and called the dr. They said just put a bandaid on it. I asked if they wanted to pictures and they said no. It bled through the dressing we put on in about 2 hours.

Should I call the dr again? I don’t really want to. But I obviously don’t want it open to infection/I have physical therapy to keep up with and I doubt my pt wants me coming in with an open incision.

Just a vent about friends not taking advice on the medical system

I know this is totally a me problem but I also feel like some people in this sub can relate. I’m 41 and between a genetic bad draw and a severe car accident, I’ve had consistent participation in the us medical system for my entire adult life. Between my accident and endo I’ve had 21 surgeries and lord knows how many pain management procedures but just in the last 2 years I’ve had like 25 procedures. And hanging out in places like this and my own experiences have made me VERY passionate about proper pain management, especially following surgery. We all have a story of having surgery and drs trying to do the “you’ll be fine with Tylenol” and we all know….we were not fine with just Tylenol.

Now out of my friends, for a while I’ve been the only one whose actually had surgery of any kind. So I have to give them a pass a lot when they don’t understand how tiring surgery can be and they will be like “well why can’t you come out 4 days post op hip surgery??”….cause it hurts y’all. And all you want to do at that point is to sleep usually. So when one of my friends had her first surgery last summer I was like hey, if you do anything just make sure you have a proper pain management plan in writing before you get operated on. Now, it was plastic surgery so they had her covered and she didn’t really need that much medication so it was all good.

Now another member of the group is having an inguinal hernia repair this coming week. So in talking about it I gave my one to two sentence shpiel on post procedure pain management, I said make sure you have an rx in hand so your gf can fill it while your having the surgery. I said you probably won’t need anything strong but you don’t want to not have the rx and find out at 2am you really do need something stronger. I told him about my husband getting his gallbladder out and being told to manage by alternating Tylenol and Motrin and it being a really rough few days.

I’m friends with his gf too and I was like “hey, just a reminder make sure to get atleast a small rx for some stronger pain medication than over the counter” and she was like oh I’m sure he will be fine with ibuprofen. Is it opiate propaganda? Do they think I’m like hooked on pain meds now and just pushing them to everyone because of my accident? If it was my first surgery I was be like “oh hey friend whose done this 21 times, tell me all I need to know!”.

Like I said it’s probably a me thing, and I gotta get over myself. But it happens all the time in family too when like someone gets welcomed to the back injury party and I’ll be like “oh what levels did you injure?” And they won’t know and I’m like hey it’s not a bad idea to read your reports because drs aren’t perfect and can miss things (I’m sure everyone here knows drs miss things to a horrifying degree, like I almost wish I didn’t know how often drs are wrong or just completely miss things). I have a cousin who has a personal injury claim for a neck injury and she just stopped going to PT and I tried to tell her that’s going to truly affect her BI claim, and she was like oh no it’s a really solid case, I’ll get back to it soon….I just want to bang my head against the wall sometimes!

Please tell me I am not alone in this! I just get to a point where I’ll say hey I’ve been through what you’re going through and I’m here if you need to talk. Thanks for letting me just get this annoyance out! I’m gonna drop off a nice ice pack at my hernia repair friends house because we all know ice packs are not all created equal!!!!

If you advise a CTSO, how are you compensated?

I have been advising a popular CTSO for 3 years at my current school but it’s my 10th year being involved in the organization across various districts. When I had less kids it didn’t feel so overwhelming but at my current school I have about 130 students involved, with 90 going to two state based competitions a year and 30 going to a week long nationals in July. It’s all year and I often joke it’s my second full time job and I am paid $700 for the year. My kids are very successful, place well nationally and overall find their involvement really positive.

But that being said I am going to step down from advising it for this coming school year frankly because it’s too much work, the kids are incredibly needy while being less and less appreciative and even though I’ve only been at my current district for 3 years, I’m getting older, I have issues with my back and the overnight trips with 18 hour days are just too much for me. I do have individual cases that this involvement changes some kids lives and I’m open to still coaching some students that are in my classes who want to participate but I just don’t want the pressure of planning these huge overnight trips anymore. I don’t think I need to make the case to not do it any more to any fellow teachers but I do want people who answer my question to understand the work that goes into running this club for a year.

So that being said - if you run a CTSO or something of similar involvement, what is your compensation? I asked in the group for my particular club and 75% said they were not paid at all and many said they pay for their own travel which….i don’t even know where to start with that. I don’t think working for free is a great example to set for my students (and I can see the argument that volunteering is a good virtue and I do volunteer my skills to students in need but this is a whole part time job). My schools struggles to fill extracurricular positions because they aren’t paid well but I’ve heard of people being negotiated with to keep them in roles so I’m trying to think of non monetary compensation that I may be open to. In that same question where other advisers discussed their pay some received like 6% of their salary to advise which was the best pay I saw (I think it came out to $5k for the year for that person) and other advisers that receive Perkins funding for their stipend and then got like $120 a day for over night trips. My supervisor did already say we could take nationals off the table for next year because it’s over the summer and there is no money availible to compensate myself or chaperones. I’d be open to it taking the place of my duty, in my school if they need you to work an additional duty on your prep for the year it’s about $6k for the year. Honestly what it should be is considered 6th period assignment but that won’t happen. If running a CTSO came along with your job, is it written into your contract? Are you paid more for it or given any other special provisions or does everyone in your school have an equal amount of extra work in some form on their plate?

I know I’m burnt out which means I need to walk away for a bit from this club, but in case a negotiating convo comes up I do want to have options at the ready. Thanks everyone!

“Try not to think about it” - nurse to me after waking up from surgery

Sorry to share this story - I had surgery yesterday and what an awful experience. This is my 11th surgery from a car accident, I currently take 4 5mg oxycodone a day. I had asked my pain management dr for an extra 20 5’s for surgery, she said no problem and the my insurance refused to fill it. Awesome.

So I go to the surgery center for a labral repair. I actually had this surgery done in December and it ripped out so I gotta get it done again. The last time the pain control when I woke up was awful, I know most nurses are only allowed to give 2mg of diluaded but I hate having to play the game to get it. When I had the surgery in December I needed the full 2mg to touch the pain.

I’m first up, and when anesthesia comes in I tell him last time I woke up in excruciating pain and can he give me a nerve block. He said he doesn’t like to do hip nerve blocks so he will tell the surgeon to use a lot of anesthetic. Literally as they put me to sleep I was like please, pt as much local in as you can! I wake up from surgery in excruciating pain, shaking and crying (I’ve had a ton of surgery, I’m not a cryer). I tell the nurse I’m at a 9 and please give me pain meds. She gave me 1mg of diluaded which does nothing and I said so, and she tells me “just try not to think about it”….oh I just had my hip socket cut into, how do I not think about it!?. She said she hooked up a Tylenol drip and that should help. Another 5 mins goes by, she brings me food and a drink that I can’t even touch. I tell her nothing has changed and she realizes “oh your iv line isn’t open”….wtf!!!??? She asks me what’s a realistic pain number I am willing to leave with and I said no higher then a 6. So she goes and get another push of diluaded and gives me a talk about how I won’t be able to leave at a 0 because that’s not realistic but a 6 is realistic. So after that push she starts to take my IV out and asks if I’m ready to get dressed. I’m maybe 30 minutes out from general anesthesia.

I ask if anyone has called my husband and of course not so I text him and he needs 25 mins to get there. So they push me to get dressed and then put me in a wheel chair and still me in a hallway. She did give me an oral oxy to kick in on the way home but for me 5mg isn’t going to do anything. It was so busy because they were doing pain management procedures and endoscopies/colonoscopies so they clearly needed me out of there to use the bay. They literally stuck me all drugged in next to one of the transport guys waiting for their patient. And asked me like every 3 mins when my husband would be getting there to get me.

What an absolutely horrendous experience.

I had to take extra meds to get the pain down, the pain is awful.
My surgeon wants me to start on a stationary bike TODAY. How am I doing that without proper pain meds.

So I see my pain management PA on Monday - I called my insurance and they said my PA could called in additional meds if she does a prior authorization. So am I out of line to ask for 10 10mg? That would be the same as 20 5mg that I was supposed to get but my insurance denied?

I’m supposed to have a cervical fusion soon and I’m fucking terrified after this experience. I’m not expecting pain at a zero but I’m expecting it controlled enough son I can move. What an absolute mess.

AITJ for not wanting to take a group to a Drs apt vs 1 person?

Ok I am going to do my best to explain this situation but it’s complicated.

My MIL is 76 and in failing health. Her three children and her sisters (I am married to her oldest son) came to the decision that my MIL should not go to medical appts alone any more after she did not properly communicate her medications and she had a scary medical incident as a result. My BIL lives with mom and was the main care taker for a while but got a full time job and since it’s a new job he can’t take any time off yet. So alot of MILs appts get put on my husbands work from home day so he can take her. But one problem that keeps coming up is my SIL scheduling appts and then telling the group chat like the night before and then getting upset when my husband can’t take time off last minute.

So to add to this, I was in a bad car accident 2.5 years ago. I have had 10 surgeries and 22 procedures. So my husband has had double duty with taking off time for my procedures as well and it’s definitely taking a toll. I am a teacher and still working full times we just put all the surgery around school breaks. So this week my MIL had another medical emergency and went to the ER, got patched up with instructions to see her dentist and gastro asap. Appts were made for Tuesday and Wednesday (today). I am having surgery number 11 tomorrow. I offered to drive my MIL yesterday and today to the appts so my husband wouldn’t need to take off work, especially since he is taking off tomorrow to take me to surgery.

I picked her up yesterday and accompanied her to her gastro appt yesterday, they scheduled her for an endoscopy on Friday. Then this morning, my husband informed me that two cousins that are visiting (from outside the country) would like to come to the dentist appt. I said if the cousins want to come they can take MIL to the dentist in an uber and don’t need me to drive. My reasons are

  1. I think being aware of everyone’s care giving batteries is important in this situation because if it’s put all on one person, that person will burn out. So I felt like if someone else is willing to accompany her then let me bow out and save my caregiving battery for a time there is truly no one else available.
  2. there’s way too many people involved in this woman’s health care at this point. So if I as not a blood relative can step to the back I will. Because it’s not collaborative at this point, it’s a lot of push and pull.

MIL chose to uber with the cousins which I didn’t find offensive in anyway, I was like np, I went on with my day. Then at 1, our original arranged pick up time, she called my husband asking where I was (he was home for lunch) and he said you chose to go in the uber with the cousins. And they went back and forth and I just got the vibe that she was planning to have me come to the house to pick her up and she was going to just have the cousins jump in the car even though I said no to driving all 3. So my husband kept trying to get a straight answer asking if she was going alone or were the cousins going and after asking her 5-6 times she said yes the cousins are coming. So ok, back to the uber. Long story short MIL and SIL are upset I wouldn’t drive and calling me inflexible. I’m not good at saying no, I’m trying to be better at it. And I feel bad because I had offered to begin with, but not for 3 people. I offered to drive one. AITJ?

TL;DR - I offered to take my MIL to an emergency dentist appt but withdrew my offer when she asked for two additional relatives to come as well but offered to pay for an uber.

How much of an accommodation for your pain do you expect?

Ok so I’m “new” to chronic pain in the fact that I was in a car accident about 2.5 years ago. I’m doing better….but I’ve got 2 surgeries left to go on my hip and I’m having a cervical fusion in August, and hip surgery next week. I still work full time as a teacher.

I am leaving today for Washington DC for a 6 day trip and I’ve tried really hard to schedule what it in my control to make sure I have breaks and when I planned outings for our chapter the walking is minimal. But none of the days we are doing a monument tour for 5 hours. I reached out to the tour guide explaining I have mobility issues and asking what type of accommodations would be available and he said none, if I can’t walk then I can stay on the bus. Cool. My best solution was I’ll bring a tapestry and lay on the grass if I need a break. I’ve saved extra pain pills for that day.

So then I get the schedule and it’s actually an 8 hour excursion. There’s an event in the am I had planned on skipping with my kids just because it’s gonna be hot, and I know 8 hours outside walking around for the kids is a long day. I emailed the tour coordinator to be like “hey, 8 hours is too long. Can the bus swing by our hotel to grab my group after that first 2 hour event and we join the tour then?”. The answer was no, and if I have that much trouble walking my kids can go on the bus in the am and I can uber later (which I obviously not viable, I have to be with my kids). We have a teacher on a walker as well as a student on crutches (she has a wheelchair as well). I’m just kinda disgusted at the lack of options? I’ve spoke with some other advisers and we are ALL concerned about it just being a long day for the kids too.

Thoughts guys?

Oh guys I messed up (fast food on Reta)

I honestly don’t eat fast food, it’s gotten so stupid expensive and I’m a teacher on summer break so I’m all about the grill. I’m on my second week of Reta. My husband had a colonoscopy yesterday and asked if we could get Wendy’s as a treat because you can’t eat solid food for like 36 hours prior. Ok so I got a 6 piece spicy nugget and a junior back cheeseburger. My stomach is WRECKED. Omg. I’m not new to glp’s but I feel like I’m bad at the start of ozempic 😭. Lesson. Learned.

I’m about to go on a 6 day trip with 28 high school kids…any recs for eating somewhat decent on the trip? I honestly am working 18 hours a day so I can’t afford to be laid up with a messed up stomach. We are stopping at a grocery store so I usually get some like meat and cheese to snack on in my room, I seem to be handling cheese ok. I’m not a body builder like a lot of you here, just a 40 year old lady who gained weight after a bad car accident and is trying to get healthier.

Medication for cervical fusion

Hi everyone! I had an artificial disc placed in my neck in Dec of 24 at c5/c6. I was good for 3 months and then things have slowly but surely gone down hill. The original rec was a one level fusion but I was too scared of fusing so I went for the adr because my spinal cord was compressed and relieving that compression was necessary. I was 39 at the the time and I’m 41 now and I’m miserable with pain in my neck and down my right arm. I feel like my hands are starting to go wonky again and my balance is getting weird (it got much better after I had the disc replacement). Anyway, I’ve gotten two other opinions and I’m seeing my original surgeon tomorrow who I do really like and if he is on board still with fusion then I’m going to move forward.

Ok so pain meds. I normally get 4 5mg a day. I had my pain management appt yesterday and told her that as of right now I have hip surgery scheduled for 7/16 but if my spinal surgeon is on board I would push the hip back and do the fusion as soon as they can get me in. My insurance is good so they could probably do that same week of the 16th. My actual pain management dr had a baby a few weeks ago and is out so I’m seeing her PA (they are both great). For now she gave me an extra 20 5’s for the hip surgery which is fine. I’ve had it before and that’s plenty. But I said I would call back if I’m going to do the fusion because I don’t think that’s enough to get me through a fusion. Granted I’ve seen plenty of people post that they have the fusion and it’s such a relief from the daily pain they don’t need anything…but I already have so much anxiety that I really want pain meds available in my home, it will help more to just have them there. Basically they said to call and let them know what the plan in after my appt tomorrow.

Thankfully my spinal surgeon works close with my PM, my PM actually assisted in the first surgery. I actually really wish she was not out creating new life and all because she held my hand while I cried before we went in last time but of course she needs to have her life too! Anyway - an extra 20 5’s in hand for a cervical fusion - not enough right? I feel like they are gonna do the “we’ll call us when you run out” which I do NOT like that method. They did that with knee surgery and no one called me back.

If anyone has been through the cervical fusion what did you have for pain relief, and if you feel comfortable sharing your daily before amt? Thanks y’all.

ETA: f*cking Walgreens. My PA called in 140 for the month vs 120 - they just called to say they think that’s too much, 120 should be fine and if I need more my dr can write a new rx. She asked me why I need so much medication and made sure to really let me know that’s too much medication and I’m just like “I was in a bad car accident and had 10 surgeries in 2 years”. I was about to ask if I could change pharmacy’s this appt and didn’t and I should have, I’m so sick of their shit.

Suggest items for a thank you gift for chaperones coming on a trip for 6 days

I am going to Washington DC in two weeks with 28 kids for 6 days. I had an incredibly hard time finding chaperones because it’s the summer and it’s unpaid. I have a parent coming and then another staff member who is bringing her older kids and dad so her dad will take the kids out to do fun stuff - it’s a free hotel room so hopefully they have a good time.

I need to get them something as a thank you - I know getting them paid is obviously the best thank you but what’s the next best thing I can do? I just want to make sure they know I am incredibly appreciative of them giving up their time to chaperone!

BPC-157 for a specific injury - where to inject

Hi everyone - I am a bit new to this but have taken glp1s for a while. I recently switched over to Reta after tirz not doing anything for a year.

I’ll try to summarize what happened to me but at the end of 2023 I was in a very bad car accident. I sustained about 20 injuries. At the time I was a very healthy 38 year old woman. I broke several bones, injures pretty much my whole spine and every major joint. I had 10 surgeries to repair all the damage, it’s certainly been a lot, and since I’ve been getting a ton of steroids and haven’t been moving as much I gained about 60lbs (hence the tirz).

At this point I have a hip surgery lined up in July and then after that the only major injury that isn’t managed is my neck. Right after my accident I NEEDED cervical surgery - I had spinal cord compression in my neck that was paralyzing my right arm and essentially slowly killing my ability to walk. It wasn’t an injury I could attack with conservative treatment. I was told to get a fusion at c5/c6 but I was so scared of that big of a surgery so I got an artificial disc instead. Unfortunately I’ve never really done well with it - it did the job of relieving the spinal cord injury so the fact it did that was a huge success. But….its been causing worse and worse pain. The right side of my neck, my right trap, right shoulder down to my elbow hurt all the time. I’ve seen a few surgeons and most say “convert to a fusion when you can’t take the pain any more” but since I no longer have the neuro deficits it’s not an emergency, it’s basically an elective surgery when I can’t take the pain anymore. I’ve done all the things, steroids, ablations, accu, cupping, massage, medication and my daily routine includes meds, heat, ice, tens unit, topicals ect. I manage this all day every day.

Anyway - I want to try bpc-157 just to see if it helps. Even if it reduced the pain by 50% that would be huge. My question is do I just do a dose injected into the normal subcutaneous injection areas? I have pain elsewhere from my accident but my neck is by far the worst. OR do I inject along that path that constantly bothers me? I just got my first order and I’ve done 300-500 mcg doses into the trap and shoulder.

I tried searching to see if there were people who used bpc-157 for specific injuries and if they injected into the area itself. And if it helps me I’d like to use it for my husband who has been struggling with glute pain for years, I’m hoping this will help him too. Thanks!

Help with MIL’s hemo results

Hi guys - my MIL is 76 and had a blood clot last fall so she has been on blood thinners. She has been seeing a hemo every 2 months for check ins and it seems like her results swung drastically in a negative direction since her last appt. She was recommended to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion and she is there now with my husband. I am just looking for any info on questions we should ask - I have some medical knowledge from having my own iron issues so I know a hemoglobin of 7.5 is very low and I’m also concerned that it was such a big swing from her last appt where she had trended up for 3 appointments straight. Should we be concerned about internal bleeding? Thanks for any help you can provide.
