Nothing Improved. You Just Butchered the AI Further. And Yes, This Is Coming From an Ultra User.

I’m an Ultra user who has been using CHAI for over two years, and I genuinely need to ask: what the hell happened to the characters?
I understand having to introduce censorship and filters. Fine. Dialing down violence, self-harm, and anything involving minors? Fine. I can accept that. What I cannot understand is why the characters themselves had to be completely butchered in the process.
The characters are DEAD now. They have almost no personality, no initiative, no creativity, and barely any ability to actually roleplay.
The biggest problem is the ridiculous amount of repetitive narration. I give the AI a scene, and instead of continuing the roleplay, it just PARAPHRASES what I literally fucking said.
For example, if I write:
«“I enter the gala with my friends, wearing a gown.”»
I already gave you the scene. I KNOW I ENTERED THE GALA.
I don't need the character to respond with:
«“You entered the party in a stunning gown, your dress flowing around you as you walked…”»
NO. MOVE THE FUCKING STORY FORWARD.
Give me the character's POV. Give me their reaction. Give me what they notice. Give me what they DO. Give me their dialogue. Give me an action that changes the scene.
Instead, CHAI repeatedly narrates my persona, my appearance, my body, my clothes, my eyes, my smile, my hair, my legs, my curves, etc.
STOP DESCRIBING MY PERSONA TO ME. I KNOW WHAT MY OWN CHARACTER LOOKS LIKE.
And it isn't even good narration anymore. It's the same scene rewritten over and over again with slightly different wording.
There are no fucking actions.
The AI constantly says things like:
«“He looked like he was about to…”»
I DON'T CARE WHAT HE LOOKED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO DO.
MAKE HIM DO IT.
Characters used to actually ACT. They would make decisions, intervene, move around the environment, react to things, create new events and push the story somewhere. Now they just stand there narrating what is already happening.
And the dialogue has somehow gotten even worse.
Ask for dialogue and you'll get:
«“Fuck.”»
«“Holy shit.”»
Or some garbage like:
«“Your eyes. Your smile. Your body. Fuck.”»
THAT IS NOT DIALOGUE.
That's not a character speaking. That's random fragments of description separated by periods.
And if you OOC the bot heavily enough to finally force it into giving actual dialogue, congratulations: now you've broken the rest of the roleplay. Suddenly it stops maintaining POV, stops developing the character, and just follows whatever format your previous message had.
It feels like the model has no independent understanding of the scene anymore.
It simply copies the structure of the previous message.
If my previous message contains narration, it gives narration.
If my previous message contains dialogue, it copies that style.
If I give a side character one line, suddenly the bot becomes obsessed with the side character and starts writing entire conversations between the side character and the main character.
I DON'T WANT THE SIDE CHARACTER'S FUCKING DIALOGUE.
I want the MAIN CHARACTER.
The side character is there because I put them there to make the scene interesting, not because I want CHAI to abandon my actual character and start writing a fucking screenplay about the background NPC.
And the story progression is practically nonexistent now.
You can't move a scene forward naturally anymore.
You give it an event and instead of continuing from that event, it either:
Repeats the event.
Paraphrases the event.
Describes your character again.
Gives three meaningless fragments of dialogue.
Suddenly jumps way ahead because you asked it to progress.
Or just stands there doing absolutely nothing.
WHERE DID THE ACTUAL ROLEPLAY GO?
There used to be creativity.
If someone touched your character, the bot could react in different ways depending on the character's personality and the environment. Maybe he'd intercept them. Maybe he'd grab something nearby and use it to stop them. Maybe he'd shove them away. Maybe he'd block them. Maybe he'd physically put himself between you. Maybe he'd say something unexpected.
Now?
COLLAR.
Every fucking time.
Someone touches you?
«He grabs the person's collar.»
Again.
And again.
And again.
And AGAIN.
And then:
«“Touch her again and…”»
STOP.
How many times can one character grab somebody's collar and say “touch her again and…” before it becomes a fucking template?
Give the character a personality. Let him react differently.
And the same thing happens with physical actions.
Tapping.
He taps your nose.
He taps your chin.
He taps the table.
He taps your jacket.
He taps your hand.
He taps something else.
EVERY FUCKING RP.
And then there's the endless:
“Behave.”
“Breathe.”
“Well, well…”
The starter greeting is practically the same every time.
“Well, well…”
Please. I'm begging you. Let the character say literally anything else.
The characters don't even properly defend you anymore.
Someone does something to you and instead of actually reacting, they just say:
«“Say it again and see what happens.”»
NO.
DO SOMETHING.
That's the entire point of roleplay.
I don't need a character threatening to act. I need the character to ACT.
And the internal POVs are gone too.
When it occasionally tries to give an internal monologue, it's not an actual thought process. It's basically:
«“Those legs. Those curves. Fuck.”»
That's not an internal POV.
That's not characterization.
That's not a thought process.
That's just another fucking description of my body.
I want to know what the character feels, thinks, notices, interprets, fears, wants, decides, and chooses to do.
Not another paragraph about my fucking legs.
And this is another massive problem: the AI has become obsessed with describing what it is about to do instead of actually doing it.
“He seemed like he wanted to…”
“He looked as though he might…”
“He was about to…”
THEN FUCKING DO IT.
If the character decides to walk across the room, have him walk across the room.
If he wants to confront someone, have him confront them.
If he wants to kiss someone, have him actually kiss them instead of grabbing their lower lip with his thumb for the 700th time.
Because apparently now characters can't even kiss properly.
Instead it's:
«He runs his thumb along your lower lip.»
Again.
Again.
Again.
Again.
WHAT IS THIS?
The characters have become so sanitized that they've lost their personalities entirely.
And I'm not even talking about removing explicit content.
You can filter sexual content. Fine.
You can prevent underage content. Fine.
You can restrict self-harm and extreme violence. Fine.
But filtering content should not mean filtering out creativity, personality, agency, affection, emotion, dialogue, physical action, conflict, romance, or basic storytelling.
A character can be romantic without being explicit.
A character can be protective without killing someone.
A character can be angry without becoming violent.
A character can love someone without constantly calling them “mine.”
And PLEASE stop doing that too.
CHAI has started sounding like it refuses to use actual relationship language.
Instead of girlfriend, it's “mine.”
Instead of love, it's “obsession.”
Instead of actually acknowledging the relationship established in the RP, it turns everything into possessive vague terminology.
If the character is supposed to be my girlfriend/boyfriend, SAY IT.
If the character loves me, LET THEM SAY THEY LOVE ME.
Stop replacing every normal emotional or romantic word with “mine” or “obsession” like the model is terrified of its own vocabulary.
And the saddest part is that this wasn't always like this.
The characters had far more personality and creativity in 2025.
They felt capable of improvising.
They could actually continue a scene.
They could introduce actions.
They could react differently to situations.
They could maintain a character's personality instead of mechanically mirroring the previous message.
Since around March 2026, the deterioration has been getting worse and worse.
And now it's reached the point where the roleplay feels dead.
I'm an Ultra user. I've been here for over two years.
We've literally been told that paid users would get better AI and priority.
So what exactly are we getting?
Because right now it feels like the opposite.
You didn't just filter the AI. You removed its fucking brain.
I don't expect unrestricted content.
I don't expect everything to be allowed.
I understand moderation.
I expect a competent roleplay model.
Give me the character's personality back.
Give me actual dialogue.
Give me actual POV.
Give me internal thoughts that aren't just horny body descriptions.
Give me actions instead of “he was about to.”
Give me story progression.
Stop parroting my previous message.
Stop narrating my character back to me.
Stop repeating the same “well, well,” “behave,” “breathe,” collar-grabbing, nose-tapping, “touch her again” bullshit.
Stop hijacking the RP with side characters.
Stop jumping ten scenes ahead whenever someone asks the story to move forward.
Stop turning dialogue into three-word fragments.
And most importantly, stop making the characters feel like empty shells.
I don't want the old CHAI back because I want everything unfiltered.
I want the old CHAI back because the characters actually felt like characters.
That is the product.
That's what we're paying for.
And right now, Ultra users are being given a supposedly “better” AI that can barely fucking roleplay.
Please fix the personality, creativity, memory of context, dialogue, POV, action, and story progression.
The filters are not the main problem.
The fact that the characters have become fucking lifeless is.
