Self-Sabotaging - Tricks Needed To Stop

It's been a tough few years for my family, but the clouds are starting to clear. I'm divorcing my alcoholic husband and selling my home. An opportunity to move across the country has come my way, and my only child (18M) wants us to take the chance.

I've noticed that I keep freezing and doing nothing, even though I know I am running out of time to sell the contents of my home, have improvements done, and get it listed. We will be leaving a 4,000 sq ft house for a two-bedroom apartment and taking just personal belongings with us.

I've procrastinated on the travel arrangements for the final interview...to the point it will cost more to book the flights. I know that I will also now have to hire a company to help clear out our house.

This morning it hit me. I'm self-sabotaging. The job is a dream job in a dream city, and the timing on paper is perfect. But I've been really comfortable where I am for the past decade. I don't want to continue to live settling for what's comfortable. But the idea of the move is definitely giving me a ton of anxiety.

I would love advice on how to navigate all of these changes without sabotaging what could be an amazing change for my son and me.

Electric Bill

I know this has been discussed in the past, but i wanted to see if anyone else has insight on this. I bought two bed jets (one for me and one for my teen). Since buying them our electric bill has skyrocketed. $500 last month and $600 this month. Nothing else has changed besides running them when we sleep.

I'm thinking about just selling them atp. As much as we like them, I dont like them enough to pay double the electric bill. I see people say they dont use much energy....but something is definitely going on since we started using them.

Price Jumps When I Log In (Renter)

I'm trying to rent a Urus for my 18-year-old's birthday dinner night (I'll be driving). It is listed at around $450, but when I log in, the price changes to $100 more before fees are added! Is there a way around this? It doesn't seem very fair.

Company Recommendations Cleaning Out House and Estate Salw

I'm taking a job in California and need to clean out my home and sell what we can (only taking clothes and shoes). I'm so overwhelmed because our house is 3500 sq ft and I'm struggling with pretty awful autoimmune issues. There's no way I can do this myself.

Does anyone know of a company that helps with all of this?

Recovery Time - Physical Limits

I'm planning to sell my house and relocate to another state to start a new job. I am 47 and have planned to get a facelift by the time I'm 50. I am planning to move in October and thought it'd be nice to have my facelift prior to moving and starting my new life in another state.

My question is - i have a lot of things that need done to pack and sell my home. Realistically how long would i not be able to do anything around the house? I'm wondering if I have the facelift 6 weeks prior to moving, would I be able to start packing up 3 weeks into recovery or would that be a bad idea?

Any advice is welcomed! ❤️

Locations and Apartments

I'm possibly taking a job in the La Jolla area. I will be moving with my 18-year-old son (finished high school). We want a 2-bed, 2-bath apartment in a fun area where we can explore San Diego (we are moving from the Atlanta area). We like the idea of having city views, but are open to different areas without that. We want an apartment with higher-end resort-style amenities like a pool and gym (my son is very into fitness). I would like to stay under $4k/month if possible.

Any suggestions? I've looked into Deiga, but I see a lot of not-so-great reviews. I like the vibe of Alexan Camellia. The Rey and AMLI Aero look decent too. Floor-to-ceiling windows are a must-have for us.

Falls Church vs Alexandria

I'm moving back to the DMV after being away for 12 years. I have job offers in Alexandria and Falls Church (also Baltimore). What are the pros and cons of each area currently? I plan to sell my house, invest my equity and rent a nice 2 bedroom apartment going forward. It will be me and my 18 yr old son.

Should I Order a Tovala??

I'm a newly single mom to a teenager who will eat anything. I work full time and would like to try a meal plan that doesn't involve me basically cooking like Hungry Root does.

I'm trying to decide if its worth the extra money to try Tovala instead of Tempo meals? Has anyone tried both?

Do you feel like Tovala offers fair healthy meal choices?

I've been trying to research weekly costs since the meals online dont list prices....do most people pay around $13-15/serving? I typically try to keep our dinners around $20 total, but with prices rising at the store and not having to keep the mental load of planning a week of meals, I feel like this might be worth the extra expense.

Appreciate any info yall can think of!!

I'm relocating and have decided instead of rolling my $350k into a new house I want to spend a year or two renting a condo to figure out what area I want to purchase in. Doing so will give me $350k to invest over those years.

Any advice on what ETFs to invest in for the next two years? I do plan to keep half of the money invested even when I do decide to purchase a new home.

I have a job offer in Alexandria. I previously lived in Alexandria, DC, and Maryland for over 15 years. We've been in Georgia for the past 12 years and are now moving back. I do eventually plan to buy again, but we'd like to take a year or two renting so that I can decide where I really want a home long term.

It will be my 18-year-old son and me. He likes the idea of renting a 2-bedroom condo at the Harbor, so we'll be close to DC and can walk out to dinner. He also thinks it'd be a cool area to be in when people come to visit us.

I'm curious if anyone has lived there and can give their take on it. What other areas should I consider, possibly the Mosaic district in Fairfax? Amenities like a pool and gym would be a plus.

Any advice is much appreciated!!
