Had to go pick up a water pump for the car and they were outta gasket remover so I went next door to the wallys to pick some up and look what I found…. I’ve seen these out once each, but never seen them together on the shelf🤯🤯🤯

I’ve done a few civics now and wanted to get a polished “super chrome” loookin one done during my one of my days off.
First time using citristip (aerosol gel) and yeah, that product is where it’s at. Super easy no mess paint removal. Sanded, wet sanded and 3 stage polish with the dremel. Took the wheels from a grey 82 supra and I think they fit really well just wish the pics showed better detail. Threw a pic in with my first civic custom as well.
Gonna have to attempt a clear coat on this one as well , the last one I tried came out cloudy, and I have to redo it so I’m gonna go super light on this one. Any advice on clear coat techniques would be appreciated.
For those of you that customize, what’s the best product for painting the windows black? (from the inside)
So I had a few more come in this week. They came in yesterday and popped em open today. This brand’s attention continues to fuel me adding them to my collection. I’m gonna need to buy some dioramas or rearrange my shelves soon……
Did this one up tonight after dinner was cleaned up and the kiddo went to sleep. Quick, simple and I like how it came out. I have some work to still do on the front grill and I just gotta find a set of wheels I like….
Then I gotta figure out a better way to get some color on the round headlights. I tried painters tape and cutting the circle out with an exacto knife but the paint seemed to bleed when applied, maybe I should go lighter ? Idk I’m asking for suggestions and y’all let me know what you do for finer details like that and if you like how it’s come out so far, thanks
This civic was the second model that my son and I have built. Monday night builds the past few weeks are coming along nicely. This build was definitely more challenging than the Silverado. A whole lot more small parts, thankfully my helper has tiny fingers! It came out great. We’re gonna have to pick up another one so that we can do the race livery as well.
After not seeing any for a while saw the restock today……. HMU if I need to go back and grab one.
I have recently started doing Customs here at the end of the summer and I’m working on my photography skills as well. As once I get down taking the pictures and built the Customs I would like to include dioramas in my repertoire.

As I move along doing customs I like to share my progress/work. On this one I stripped it using acetone (my next one I will be using citristrip), and sanded with an 800 grit, 1000, 2000, and finally a 2000 wet sand. After that, I buffed it using white, then green rouge. Finally I clear-coated it, but I haven’t taken pictures of that yet as it is curing.
I tried a number of different wheel combinations, y’all let me know which ones you prefer.
At the end of the pictures, I included some interior swaps and headlight detail of my first two Customs that I have done.
The first two pics are of this custom last week when I had only done an 800 grit and white rouge buff. The pics at the end show the interior swaps compared to the original interiors with my first two Customs.
Still working on leveling up my photography game I have yet to build a light box, any suggestions? I will definitely take in that department as well.

I picked up some ultra fine tip acrylic pens to use for detail work (lights, exhaust, touch-ups, etc.) this red is just not it. It looks more orange/pink when applied. I shook it up for a while to make sure it mixed, the hue is just off. I need a darker red for tail light details. This brand wasn’t expensive so I’m not out much. I just wanna know what brand some more advanced/seasoned custom makers use. Or should I look into water slide decals?? Please lmk and thanks in advance.
Got the paint stripped and did a little sanding and buffing. Now I’m off to the hardware store to grab some finer grit sandpaper, better polish wheels for the Dremel , cutting compound bars, and some 1K clear coat. Hopefully I can get this thing to a mirror shine. I feel like my 3rd custom is coming along nicely.
Spent a lil bit of time this afternoon working on my technique for setting up for a few more customs. There’s a small selection of wheels together pick from now too. Good times sitting on the porch and showing lil man how the drill works as we deconstructed a bunch of hot wheels together. Got one of these castings soaking to get the paint off right now and tomorrow we will clean it up
Sitting on the porch this afternoon harvesting some makeshift wheels on the workbench. My question to all y’all is: What size drillbit works the best overall for removing the rivets? Is one size better than the other, and if so, which one?
I’m in the midst of taking apart 10-15 cars to practice my technique as well as harvest some mainline wheels that I like and I now know fit for what I’m doing. It seems like I’ve used anywhere from a 9/64 to a 13/64 and it varies between each car. I have a couple of very tiny screwdrivers and a few picks to try to remove the outside ring of the rivet as I’m carefully trying to remove them. It seems like I’m changing a bit more than I should have to in between cars to try to get a smoother process I’m just wondering if there is a better technique that I don’t know about yet.
