Radio campaign after record is out?

I’m a small indie rock (think KEXP stuff, 90’s-ish CMJ band—inspired by Pavement, Guided By Voices, Superchunk, etc) band and have a record coming out next week. I finally heard back from some promotional folks after asking about cost/reach of a campaign, but they can’t get to it until mid-July. Is a record out on July 3rd just dead in the water at that point, or would it be worth it to have them push it for 4-6 weeks to radio? I’ve been doing it myself so far and my response rate has been dismal. Would love any insight and experience y’all have.

Shoot the Singer (not literally though)

Was driving behind a giant truck and could only make out the words and was like “Hell yes, a Pavement fan driving a big ass truck!” Then I looked at the picture later when I wasn’t driving and realized it’s a gun range thing. 🤦🏻
