I think Backend Engineer has changed a lot.

Due to the advancements in AI and Agentic AI, software engineering has changed. With AI doing almost all the heavy lifting, SEs are more like architects or planners than devs.
I have 3+ years of full-stack experience leaning more towards the backend side; I used to build APIs and shit by hand. I don't know what backend is now anymore. What do you think backend development is all about in 2026 and beyond? What skills are working for you guys? How are you guys working at companies or freelancing as Backend Engineers in 2026? I'm really curious how AI has changed the roles.

Somebody make a Chrome Extension that flags copied/fake/AI slop on Linkedin

I'm done with these fake influencers and HRs posting copy-pasted or AI bullshit on LinkedIn all day instead of doing their jobs.

Starting Freelancing in 2026 with SE experience

I am 25M. Went back to grad school. I had 3+ years of Software Engineering experience before that. I resigned from my onsite job a year ago to pursue a masters

And now I see that due to AI traditional web dev skills are kinda outdated. If I had to start freelance again to pay bills and rent, what would I need to do?

Backend engineer, 5 yrs, Python/Go, fintech background, open to work

Updated my CV. 5 years in backend, mostly Python (Django/FastAPI) and Go, across fintech, marketplaces, and high-traffic consumer platforms. Open to new roles if anyone's hiring or knows a team that is.

Quick rundown of what I've actually shipped.

Most recently, built a full multi-vendor marketplace solo. DRF and React, Stripe and PayPal, multi-carrier shipping with FedEx, UPS, and USPS. Deployed and managing it on AWS myself with CI/CD. Whole thing, architecture to production, one engineer.

Before that, at Dubizzle Labs I owned backend services across OLX Pakistan, Zameen.com, and Dubizzle MENA, platforms doing 18M+ MAU and 54M+ monthly sessions across 9 countries. Built an SEO microservice from scratch as one of two engineers on it, added Redis caching that cut server load 95%. Scaled the notifications pipeline to handle 50K+ daily events without data loss.

At i2c, fintech backend on PayFair. Cut query times from 800ms+ to under 600ms by killing redundant indexes. Found and fixed a SQL table locking bug that was leaving completed card payments stuck pending, that one was a fun few days. Also traced and fixed recurring REST API failures hitting Visa across payment modules.

Before that, at LAAM building Go and Python microservices for the full order lifecycle, cancellations, delays, seller feedback. Built an email pipeline processing 10K+ emails/month that killed 4,000+ manual follow-ups. On-call rotation, closed 50+ production incidents.

Stack is Django, FastAPI, Go, Postgres, Redis, Docker, AWS, GCP, some K8s. Also mid-MSc in ML/image processing at Sorbonne, so LLM integration and some CV/ML work on there too if relevant.

Open to remote, hybrid, or Paris. Can send CV.

Semester Exchange Program for Fall 2026

Hello everyone,

I am a Master's student in DIGIT (Computer Science) at Sorbonne University, and I will start my third semester in September 2026.

I would like to do an Erasmus+ exchange at another partner university in Europe, but I have just started looking into this possibility. Do you know if it’s still possible to apply at this time (July), or are there late applications or cancellations?

If any of you have participated in an Erasmus+ exchange from Sorbonne University, I would also be interested in your feedback on the procedure and who to contact.

Thank you very much for your help!

Semester Exchange Program for Fall 2026

1 year of Job Search and still no job offer

I have 3yoe and am currently doing my Masters in Paris. I've been applying for jobs for almost a year now. I apply on the company's website directly or through indeed.

I regularly tweek my resume and get reviews to make sure the resume is up to the mark.

But after applying for a year now, I've got no interviews. What would you advise? How do I look for a job? What do I do?

What's a problem worth building a product around?

I'm a software engineer looking to build something - maybe a product or solve a problem.

What's a problem you keep bumping into at work, in a hobby, anywhere, that feels like it could actually become a product? Doesn't need to be fully thought out. Even a rough "someone should really build X" is enough to start from.

Happy to dig into any idea that sparks something.

Job hunting is eating me alive

Last year, I left my full-time Software Engineering job to pursue a Master's in Paris, expecting to find a remote or freelance role along the way. Instead, I'm still unemployed, my Master's hasn't gone as planned, and I've completely lost my motivation.

I have around 3 years of Software Engineering experience, but I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong or how people are finding remote jobs in this market.

I'd really appreciate any advice or guidance from people who've been through this.

Can You Review My Resume? Targeting Software Engineer Positions

I have worked on an ecommerce platform for an LLC and included it in my projects. It is 9 months long. Should I move it to my experience tab?
