Buying an Ohio vehicle from out of state?

Hi all,

Does anyone know what the process of buying a vehicle privately in Ohio as a non-resident is like?

Would I have to go to your BMV ahead of the purchase to get a transit tag or would I need to go with the current owner to the BMV on the day of to get an the transit tag?

Driving back to Michigan after and it will be registered there.

Thanks!

Anyone buy a high-mileage used crosstrek?

I really need a new car and have been considering a crosstrek w/ manual transmission (coming from Honda Fit).

The car is 2015, 125k miles, and is stick shift for $11k.

I’m kinda concerned about how long these cars can last. I’m not familiar with their longevity.

Any thoughts on if buying with mileage this high is a good idea?

Help: Is it common to see deposits like this in brake fluid/clutch fluid reservoir?

Looking a a manual trans CX5 with shared clutch fluid and brake fluid.

Is it normal to see despots like the one right near the flashlight (dark) in the reservoir)?

Would you buy a 150k mile Impreza?

Found a good deal for a 2014 Impreza on a local listing page - $5k, manual transmission, owner says they kept up on oil changes, 150k miles.

Would you guys go for this? I only need the car to last for like 3 years and then I'm moving to a place where I don't need a car anymore.

Thanks!

Would you buy a 200k+ mile CX5?

I found a 195k mile cx5 for $3500 and want to buy it. Needs new front struts soon, but owner said that was it. It’s a 2016 & has an automatic transition. Everything looks clean.

The other car I’m consider is a manual with for $12,500 which has 120k miles. Everything is in good shape there. I’m only looking to own this car for 1-3 years before moving to a big city (no car needed).

Which would you guys go for? I do enjoy driving manual.

Does the clutch usually go before the transmission?

I am considering getting a vehicle with a standard transmission which is pretty hard to find a replacement for due to its age (MT CX5) and how few were produced. I couldn't find a single one on eBay motors or the internet.

I can find clutch components and RockAuto, though. When the transmission goes, what is usually able to be salvaged? I assume the casing and not the actual gears, right?

Do the transmission gears themselves usually last the life of the vehcile (not the clutch)? I'm just concerned about buying replacement gears in case this one ever goes bad.

Thanks!

Can you use enigma reduced-sizes buckle with sport belt?

This might be a dumb question, but can you use the sport belt with the reduced-size buckle?

Thanks!

Is $11k fair price for a 2016 CX5?

The vehicle has 110k miles, at a dealership, is the 16.5 mid-year version, 2 owners.

Looking to get my first Mazda coming from Honda.

Thanks!

Hi guys!

I’m going to need to buy a different car soon and I’m going back and forth between the Outback and CX5 from around 2014.

I really want to have a manual transmission and it appears that 2014 is the last year that the Outback has that.

Does the 2014 model year have the infamous head gasket issues, or was it pretty much gone at that point? Has anyone driven both vehicles? If so, what’s your opinion?

Thanks.

I was suprised how quickly that I went from $100k to $200k.

I work low-level finance jobs and just don’t really spend a ton of money. Don’t really go on vacation a ton, and enjoy spending time just cheap stuff (hiking, running, biking). I just save a lot, but still enjoy things that I like (road trips, spending time with family).

Income for the last few years was $70k, $84k, and I’m now at $65k.

I’m curious how long you all expect the newer (2020+) hybrid escapes to last before any major repairs.

I’m torn between an escape hybrid or a rav4 hybrid.
