Installing a Window AC on an Oversized Side Sliding Window

I have a massive side sliding window in my bedroom that is annoyingly big to create a "frame" by which to hold a window AC unit as shown in this example Do-it-urself ; a/c adapted for sliding windows; Ask questions if interested

It is 32 inches wide and 44 inches tall. In most youtube videos, you open the window that is only slightly bigger than the AC unit all the way and create a frame that fills the window entirely. My proposed plan is to only open the window partly so as to fit the AC/frame (about 20 inches based on common models that suit my needs). I'm not sure if this will be secure enough. My other idea is to use a tension rod or a security window bar (like Trianu Window Security Bars, Adjustable Rubber Tips, Sliding Glass Door Stick, Extends 21.65-35.4 Inch, Black - Walmart.com) to prevent the window from accidentally opening and thus causing the frame/AC from falling out. Thoughts? I'm not handy at all, so I wanted some advice before I tried this out. I'll also likely be hiring a handyman for the job; I just wanted to make sure my scheme wasn't hairbrained.

Anyone Know How to Make This?

The Snak Yard, Organic Sweet Potato Sticks, 17 Ounce, Pack of 6 - Walmart.com

I tried it and I love intend to cut out fruit snacks from my diet for this. Seeing as sweet potatoes are the only ingredient, I suspect that I just need a specific processing method to do this. I reluctantly suspect that the correct method for this is to steam, then sun dry for 2 days, and repeat. The issue with this of course, is the time and flies. Looking at youtube videos, I don't see anyone placing a mesh or net over the drying racks to protect the food, but maybe the repeated steaming disinfects it (though that won't be the case for the final drying session. I also considered using my oven to dehydrate it, but the lowest setting is 170 and I'm not sure if it's too high for yams

Differences in Getting Tired on the Descent

Once I go downhill, I'm generally good all the way. I can pretty much go down without resting at all. For me, gravity is propelling me downwards (instead of hindering me) and is basically doing all the work; I consider going downhill (so long as the terrain isn't so tricky that I'm fighting not to fall) rest by itself. My hiking buddy on the other hand, gets tired from going downhill and must rest. It's always puzzled me why as he's theoretically getting the same boost from gravity. The only theory I can think of is that I moved from an area with much more technical terrain, so not falling over is generally easier for me where I live now, whereas he's never left the current area that we now live in. But he also has a better sense of balance than me generally so IDK. Just curious if anyone else has an idea why this might be

[Landlord US-CO] Would This Be a Dealbreaker to You? Or is This Worth a Second Glance?

This potential roomate was able to stay in the same apartment for 7 years. They're long time partner now ex however, left him with a crap load of debt in the break up and he had to declare bankruptcy. His credit is crap of course, but he has a co signer and was pretty up front about it...........though I did also say that I'd do a credit check in my listing. But he seems to be able to afford the rent and has a stable job. He seems pleasant as an individual and roommate. They're moving because the old apartment complex has new management that is breaching the old contract. What extra due diligence should I do to ensure that he's good in spite of the yellow flag? I'm doing a background, credit and eviction history check. I'll ask for landlord references as well, specifically his previous apartment complex

Has H Mart Ever Had a Sale For Gochujaru?

Wierd question, I know, but I'm the type of person who waits for a sale to stock up on pantry staples and I'm running low on Gochujaru. I would think that H Mart might have a sale every now and then as it's a Korean staple, but I've been monitoring their ads (the Aurora Site) religiously for at least a year and I'm pretty sure that I've never seen it on sale. Note that I'm referring to the pepper flakes, not Gochujang (the paste), which does go on sale often. But it also seems so...unlikely to me that I'm wondering if I just missed it the few times it was on sale........

How to Salvage Runny Yogurt

I wanted to make yogurt with a gallon of 2% pasteurized milk, where about 5% of it was still frozen (hadn't defrosted all the way), so I used the boil function for 5 minutes. I didn't make sure that the milk reached 180 because it was pasteurized, and the goal was merely to defrost the ice. After it cooled down to 110 F, I threw in about 20 oz of yogurt and used the yogurt function for about 12 hours. Admittedly, I not so wisely stirred a few times in that period.

The result is....not completely watery, but also runny. I can think of several factors, being that I stirred, that I used 2% milk and that I didn't heat up to 180. I'm wondering if any of those factors didn't actually matter, or if all threw did. Also, is there a way to salvage this and make it thicker?

How Do I Message Someone on FB Marketplace Mobile Without Installing the App?

I use to be able to contact sellers from the mobile website but now an annoying pop up forces me into the app to message sellers, and I'd rather not have FB on my phone. Funny enough, once first contact is made, I can uninstall the FB app and text them from Messenger all day.

Is There an Optimal Blender Type For Lentil Tofu?

Wondering why all the ones on youtube recipes feature a smoothie blender specifically. Im considering using one of those regular blenders. Is there a practical reason?

Why Are Indian Sweets so Sugary When Other Asian Sweets Aren't?

The difference in sugar level between the goods in an Asian Bakery and an American one are night and day. I was told that the reason for this is that sugar was scarce and a luxury in Asia for most of history, and when it was readily available, it became only a component of an established dessert culinary culture and not the axis that it revolves around. I'm wondering why Indian sweets don't follow this trend and are incredibly sugary like American sweets

Help Me Salvage This Lentil Tofu

Posted something earlier but realized I should include a pic. Red lentil tofu won't set after spending night in fridge uncovered, so I reblended it with some water and made it smoother (but still a little grainy) and reduced it over low/medium heat once more. 7 hours later and it still looks like this. Underneath the crust, it is still moist and goupy.

Why?!!!!! And can I salvage this somehow? Under the crust, it's still mushy. Potential reasons why attempt 1 failed was a not-so-powerful blender. My fridge also is set to "cool enough to not spoil things, but could be cooler".

Lentil tofu help

In trying to make lentil tofu, I followed this video: [GOCHUJANG RED LENTIL TOFU🥵 #redlentil #gochujang #soyfree #tofurecipe #veganrecipes #veganfood](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0Ik5TP\_NmTU)

I soaked my red lentils in boiling water for the required time, but then found out that my oster blender was.....inadequate. The puree came out grainy and not smooth. I overstuffed my dutch oven and the stuff on the bottom got dried out while reducing with heat. I may not have used enough water to blend. Right now, my solution for my next attempt are

  1. Actually precook the red lentils somewhat- simmer it in boiling water for a minute or two before blending

  1. Get rid of the blender and get something slightly better?

  1. Thicken the puree in small batches so that the it's no more than 1.5 inches thick.

I don't have a nonstick pan, only a dutch oven and a stainless steel pan-is there a way to prevent a burnt/pasty crush from forming at the bottom? Would precooking the lentils about halfway make the blending process smoother? What blender is better than oster but not too upscale?

Unidentified Humming in House

In my house, I've started hearing a strange, low, quiet humming (mmmmmmmm) as of 2 days ago. It's most annoying when I'm trying to sleep but I hear it everywhere and it doesn't appear to get quieter/louder based on location in the house (bedroom asides, but Im trying to sleep, so it might be in my head) or my yard.

I turned off the main breaker, and it was still there; it started coincidentally 1 day before I was to get a panel upgrade, and it was present after the electric company disconnected the electricity and after the electrician replaced the panel. I went to the water main shut off and touched the PRV, but I felt no vibrations or intensified humming. It's consistently >70 at night where I live and the furnace has not turned on for quite a while. My attic fan needs to be manually turned on and I hadn't done so since 2 days before the humming started. I did check the gas meter, and the humming doesn't seem louder, though that might be due to noise pollution, but it didn't vibrate when I touched it either. I do have a radon mitigation system, but the fan isn't working (though the outlet is) and a technician is due to visit in a week. I've no AC, though my neighbors might. Any ideas what the cause is?

Do Women Really Find it Cute When Men Repeatedly Buy the Wrong Thing at the Grocery Store?

Was gonna post in ask women but I can't squeeze in the word count

I've seen youtube videos of women laughing over their partner buying pads and chicken wings when asked to buy "pads with wings". I've also seen them buying cilantro, lime and ranch dressing instead of "cilantro lime dressing". The women in the video and the comments appear to find it amusing, even endearing. Personally, I'd be anywhere from annoyed to suspecting weaponized incompetence depending on the occasion.

My mom routinely asks me to grab groceries on my commute and I've never had trouble calling her and texting a pic to confirm that I was buying the right thing. Even if these men don't grocery shop very often, you can develop attention to detail buying the specific parts/tools at Home Depot or Lowes. I suspect that those men simply don't care...but I've not a stereotypically male guy so my outlook is different.

I suspect that many of these women are secretly pissed, frustrated, and defeated, but because society has told them to that their negative emotions are invalid/unimportant, they try to make the best of a bad situation and diffuse their darker feelings with humor. Does this match up with reality or have I missed something?

Excel Solar Program-Suspiciously Too Good to Be True

So I got someone from Excel visit my house today and apparently, Excel is rolling out some program where they want to put solar panels on your house at no cost to you and in exchange, energy you use is solar generated and you get some sort of discount on your bill. The solar panels are apparently installed at no cost to you. The technician even mentioned that they might upgrade my electric panel for me. The premise was interesting enough for me to hear out their manager (who will be visiting the neighborhood tomorrow) but I have my doubts. Has anyone heard of a similar program? If so, what is the catch?

Edit; My gut was right I guess.

Anyone Else Cursed By the Flat Tire Gods?

It's only been a year and 2 months since I got found something long and pointy in a tire and I don't drive to work most of the time because I can walk. I know that Denver had a string of flat tires a few years ago due to all that construction and part of me is wondering if there is a similar reason for my constant misfortune. Anyone else been cursed by the flat tire gods? I'm wondering if it's even worth getting a good quality tire because I don't think it'll last long enough to get the long term benefits. That, or maybe I should get the warranty..............

ULPT Request: Getting Around Local Sales Restrictions

My friend wants to buy something that's not allowed in their state but is in mine (ozone generator). They want to ship it to me from the seller and have me ship it to them. What are the odds of this blowing up in my face? Will the item just be thrown away or sent back if not allowed?
