Canada and any other country

Does anybody here get any fully funded scholarship from Canada or anyother country for Masters in CS? How did you do that? What things matter the most? What should be focused during undergrad?

How can a student from a Tier-3 university get into AI/ML research and publish papers? [R]

Hi everyone!

I have just completed my 2nd year of BS Computer Science and my long-term goal is to pursue an MS/PhD in CS/AI/ML abroad (USA, Canada, Europe, or Australia).

To strengthen my profile, I want to get involved in AI/ML research and hopefully publish a research paper during my undergraduate studies. I recently started learning Machine Learning and plan to build a strong foundation first.

The challenge is that I'm from a Tier-3 university and unfortunately we don't have any research labs, active research groups, or professors working in AI/ML research. Because of this, I'm not sure how to take my first steps into research.

I would appreciate advice from students, researchers, or professionals who have been in a similar situation:

  • How did you get started in AI/ML research?
  • How can an undergraduate student find research opportunities without a research lab at their university?
  • Is it realistic to publish a paper independently or through remote collaboration?
  • What skills should I focus on first (math, ML, programming, reading papers, etc.)?
  • Are there any communities, programs, or platforms where students can connect with researchers?

Any guidance, personal experiences, or roadmaps would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

GRE - worth it or not?

My aim is to get into CS Masters/PhD program in USA/Canada/Europe/Australia. I have seen many universities waived off GRE. Is this still worth time & money?

Does Retaking Courses to Improve CGPA Negatively Affect Graduate Admissions?

Hi everyone, my_qualifications BS CS ongoing

I'm planning to pursue an MS or PhD in Computer Science in the USA/Canada/Europe/Australia. My CGPA is a bit lower than I'd like, so I'm considering repeating some courses in which I received B or C grades to improve my GPA.

At my university, repeated courses are marked with an "I" (Improved) on the transcript, so admission committees will be able to see that the course was retaken.

My questions are:

  • Does repeating courses with B/C grades look bad to graduate admissions committees?
  • Is it worth improving these grades if it results in a noticeably higher CGPA?
  • How do universities in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Australia generally view improved/repeated courses?
  • How Do Graduate Admissions Committees View Repeated Courses on Transcripts?

I'd especially appreciate responses from people who were admitted to MS/PhD programs or have experience with graduate admissions.

Thanks!

CS Student Here — Need Advice on Remote J0bs, AI/ML, Freelancing & Studying Abroad

Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone,

I'm a BSCS student from Pakistan, currently in my 4th semester, and I'm looking for some career guidance from experienced developers.

I have learnt Frontend Development and during the upcoming summer break I plan to start learning Backend Development as well.
I'm also interested in AI/ML and want to explore that field alongside web development. I have listened about channel name CampusX. So, I am planning to learn from this resource during this summer.
Also I have been accepted into Dev Weekends summer program for Full-stack Web Development which is going to start soon.
I am also on iCode Guru. But I want to be on safe side in terms of not getting foreign scholarship.

My goals for the next 1-2 years are:

• Become job-ready for local and remote software development roles
• Start freelancing and get projects on Upwork/Fiverr
• Build a strong portfolio and gain practical experience
• Apply for fully funded Master's scholarships abroad after my Bachelor's
• Publish 2-3 research papers in Machine Learning/Deep Learning to strengthen my scholarship applications

I have roughly one year before I start applying for scholarships (around after my 6th semester), so I want to use my time wisely.

My questions are:

  1. What skills make a student truly job-ready for remote international jobs?
  2. What should my portfolio look like to attract employers and clients?
  3. How difficult is it to get the first Upwork project, and what strategy would you recommend?
  4. Is it realistic to pursue both Full-Stack Development and AI/ML simultaneously, or should I focus on one first?
  5. For those who secured scholarships abroad, what helped your application the most: research papers, GPA, projects, internships, or work experience?
  6. If you were in my position (4th semester, one year before scholarship applications), what roadmap would you follow?

I would really appreciate advice from developers, freelancers, researchers, and students who have already gone through this journey.

Thank you!

Fingerprints partially fainted/removed..No biometric

Hi doctors,

I’m a 22-year-old male from Pakistan. I’m facing an issue with fingerprint biometrics and wanted some medical insight.

My situation:

  • My fingerprint patterns are visible on all fingers (loops/whorls can be seen normally).
  • However, the fingerprint ridges seem somewhat faint and there are extra fine lines on my fingertips.
  • My smartphone fingerprint sensor works without issues.
  • I have had this issue for many years (no recent change).
  • At the passport office, they were unable to capture my fingerprints on any finger, and I was eventually given an exemption.

I am planning to apply for foreign studies, and biometric verification (especially fingerprints for visa, immigration, and travel documents) will be required multiple times. Because of this, I’m concerned about whether this condition could create future issues during visa or immigration processing.

I do not have any major known skin disease on my hands, but my fingertips can get dry sometimes.

My questions:

  • Could this be naturally faint fingerprint ridges (poor dermatoglyphic definition)?
  • Could dry skin or mild dermatitis cause failure in biometric scanners even if fingerprints are visible?
  • Is this something that needs any medical treatment or just a normal variation?

I have an idea of making a Quran and Hadith app which is translated in all languages around the world. I know Quran is translated into many languages but there are still some remaining and most of them translated are not in digital form. I am currently a Computer Science student but want to make it someday open-source free-of-cost...
What's your suggestions?
