Traveling from Pakistan with my sister and niece after her ex-husband’s death. Are we missing any documents?

Hi everyone,
I need some advice regarding traveling from Pakistan to another country on a visit visa.

My sister got khula from her ex-husband about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, her ex-husband has since passed away. She has a 4-year-old daughter, and we are planning to travel together.

Currently, we have:
-My sister’s valid passport
-My niece’s valid passport
-The guardianship certificate
-Attested copies of permission for the child to travel abroad (made before he passed away)

I’m wondering if we’re missing any important documents. Also, since the travel permission copies were attested about a year ago, do we need updated attested copies now?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Bought defective Samsung Galaxy A07 two days ago. Shopkeeper refusing replacement. Need advice under Punjab Consumer Protection Act.

Hi everyone,

I am based in Punjab. On July 2nd, 2026, I purchased a brand new, box packed Samsung Galaxy A07 from a local mobile shop. From Day 1, the device has a severe hardware defect: it completely shuts down within 10 minutes of screen-off/Deep Sleep, and shows a graphical glitch at the bottom of the screen upon restarting.

I updated it to the latest firmware but the hardware crash persists.

When I approached the shopkeeper for a brand new boxed replacement, he flatly refused and told me to handle it through the official Samsung service center myself.

  1. Can the retailer legally deflect responsibility to the manufacturer's warranty center under the Punjab Consumer Protection Act 2005?
  2. I plan to serve him a formal 15-day legal notice under Section 28 via TCS today. Has anyone filed a case using the Punjab PITB Consumer Court app, and does it usually force shopkeepers to settle?

Any quick advice from lawyers or people who have gone through this would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Neighborhood problem resolution

My problem, my location is like this, my building, with 8 house and in front of our building is kind of footpath type where you park you bikes, vehicles, belonging to the houses of our building, then there is road and then same setting of building as mine, opposite to us, same pattern is for all the buildings. Buildings, then road in between then opposite buildings.

Now, my building parking place, is mostly remain with no vehicles parked there, which is a clear place, which come in the sight of people, who have cars, living in opposite buildings, they frequently come to our place and park their vehicle, which is making me very annoyed, I told some of the people to not park here, but because of my place remain clear, they come on our side, I do not want to damage their vehicle, There are houses in 3 opposite buildings , I can not tell everyone, and daily, situation is getting intense because I have to deal with each house and on daily ways, which getting overwhelming but what law says how to deal with this situation for good?

After 4 years of development, should I patent my product in Pakistan?

Hey everyone,

I'm a CMA (ICMAP) student now, but before that I used to work as a programmer/software developer. I've been building a product since 2022, and it's finally close to completion. It's currently in the beta testing phase.

The product is completely made in Pakistan by me and a few friends. We've been working on it together for the past few years.

In simple terms, it's a Device Management System for companies that provide laptops or desktops to their employees or have office computers. It helps organizations manage and monitor their devices, including device health, hardware integrity (like detecting if a part has been replaced or used in another machine), software inventory, remote administration, keystroke logging, session recording, productivity analysis, behavior analysis, and a lot more.

There are already around 9–10 major products in this space worldwide, such as Teramind, and many Pakistani companies already use these solutions and pay quite a lot in subscription fees.

My question is: Should I patent this in Pakistan, or would that just be a waste of time and money? Has anyone here gone through the process, or has experience with software patents in Pakistan? I'd really appreciate any advice.

What happens legally if you shoot someone during a robbery.

We run a few phone and laptop shops in Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Had an incident recently, robbers tried something. Got me thinking about the worst case though. Not what happened, just what if.

If you fire and end up hurting someone, what happens legally. And if someone dies?

[Pakistan] Manufacturer delivered a defective product for a STEM competition. Contract was signed by a minor. How to proceed with Consumer Court?

Our high school STEM racing team hired a Pakistani manufacturer and mentorship group to build our race car for the "STEM Racing UAE" competition. The total contract was for 3.75 Lakhs PKR.

- The manufacturer cut corners and delivered a defective car.

-- During the competition, the official technical inspectors deemed our primary car damaged/un-raceable.

- We were forced by the officials to deploy our secondary backup car, which carries an automatic, massive point penalty in this competition.

- Our theory and design scores were high (putting us at 26/47), but the physical car failed so badly we placed 45/47 in racing. Another team using the same manufacturer suffered similar hardware damage.

The contract was signed entirely by our team captain, who is under 18. Furthermore, he signed it on behalf of our high school, despite having zero legal or administrative authority to bind the school.

Three of our members (who actually paid) are seeking to recover our specific shares of the 3.75 Lakhs PKR. We verbally demanded a refund; the manufacturer refused, claiming they "went above and beyond," and then refused to communicate.

  1. Since the contract was signed by a minor (under 18), is it completely void?

  2. We plan to take this to the District Consumer Court. Does our "final written notice" need to be drafted by an actual lawyer to qualify for the mandatory 15-day notice period, or can we send it ourselves via registered post or email?

  3. Will the competition officials forcing the use of the backup car serve as sufficient third-party proof that the product was defective?

  4. We will get our detailed score breakdowns soon. Should we wait?

  5. Do we have a strong case?

  6. Is a lawyer required? We can not pay the fees and this is an actual registered company.

Is there any way I can help my mom

Aoa everyone, I don’t know how to go about my query but I’ll try my best to write it out.

My mother resides in the gulf and wants to divorce my father (we live in isb). From what she has told me, the divorce is entirely in his hands now and he needs to sign the document. This is something he keeps putting off. He is an awful hypocrite that has put my mother and siblings through hell. She currently has a travel ban on her due to my father putting nearly 7.56 crore worth of debt under her name. Alhamdulliah, she’s paid a large sum of the debt but there is quite a bit left.

Due to this, my mother does not have a national ID for the country she resides in. She has no id, no bank account, basically nothing. My siblings and I have not seen her in 2 years due to visa restrictions. The divorce could possibly lift the debt (I am not too certain about this) which would lead her to be a free woman. Is there absolutely any way I can help her?

My father is awful. He attempts to blackmail her whenever he needs money (which is monthly) and when he gets upset enough, he threatens to block my mother and to take me and my siblings away so that she can’t have any sort of relationship with us.

I desperately want to help my mother if I can. I miss her so much, I want to ease her suffering and for all of us to be together as a family.

Law studies

Kindly guide, I have done software engineering, now in this field I am totally failed, can I pursue Law, are there short courses, or only there is full long 5 years degree program? Can we study law, at home, self study, for professional career?

Secondly, I have heard and read, that lawyer defend criminals, take as a case, so is this morally acceptable that a lawyer offer his services to criminals or persons of influence for money, or is it upto the lawyer, to accept such case or reject it. I have seen a lawyer, who said there are criminals whom I defend otherwise I cannot earn because there are bad people, who do not want to get punished for their misdeeds.

Thirdly, when some lawyer is defending some criminal and when lawyer doing his work and interviews with that person, does the lawyer already know that the person whom he is defending is really guilty but for influence or for money lawyer is making the wrong thing, right?

What the reality of lawyers in Pakistan?

I am not a lawyer (I have an LLM from the UK and work in legal compliance) - but I work with a lot of lawyers in Pakistan, the GCC and Europe.

I feel pretty depressed about lawyers in Pakistan - and I really wanted to share my thoughts and have lawyers explain the reality to me.

So, first off, there are FAR too many lawyers in Pakistan - go to the smallest town in Pakistan and there is usually an accountancy school and a place offer legal studies.

If you don't do STEM, you are often pushed into law as a 'respectable' humanities subject.

There are hundreds of thousands of people with LLBs from ghatiya universities all chasing work. And there is little work, and even less chance of becoming a pupil of an experienced lawyer who can teach you the application of the law.

There are excellent LLB graduates but in Pakistan, there are few law firms that recruit and actual nurture youngsters to make them good lawyers.

Anyone with an LLB from any useless university sets up in practice and there is horrific race to the bottom. No real professional development.

Graduates who want to become practicing lawyers are paid barely enough to cover the fuel for a bike for the month.

Most lawyers end up scratching in the dirt in a system where to win, you have to bribe and be dishonest - the court system corrupts almost everyone other than those with some success or backing.

So, most people go into a rotten system and rots very quickly - of course, not ALL lawyers.

But lawyers take on whatever they can, whether they can deliver or not - there is no transparency about fees, or hours worked or anything else.

90% of the profession is a total joke.

I am working with senior barristers who were not taught enough and who claim that they understand the area of law I work in - they do not know the basics.

Need Islamic and legal advice for my friend’s marriage (Pakistan)

I'm writing this on behalf of a very close friend because she's emotionally exhausted and doesn't know what to do anymore. I would really appreciate advice based on Islam, as well as practical advice from people familiar with Pakistani family dynamics and family law.

My friend is only 25 years old. She has been married for about 7 years and has two young daughters. Her husband works abroad and has not come back to Pakistan for around 2.5 years. During this time, she has been living with her in-laws.

Her marriage has been full of problems for years.

Her husband has verbally abused her countless times. He has also physically assaulted her in the past when he was in Pakistan. He regularly insults her family, especially her mother, and whenever there is any disagreement in the extended family, he threatens to send her back to her parents' house.

He doesn't provide enough financial support for her and the children despite working abroad. He also says degrading things, such as joking about getting a white girlfriend in Spain, he openly catcalls women to disrespect her, and generally behaving in ways that don't reflect good Islamic character.

One thing that makes this even more painful is that her late father was a very respected and influential person in the family. While he was alive, everyone treated her with respect because they feared his authority. Sadly, he passed away not long after her marriage, and according to my friend, things gradually became much worse after his death.

Her elder brother and widowed mother have spent years trying to save this marriage. They have tried everything they could think of to keep peace between the families. They have overlooked countless insults, bought expensive gifts for her husband and his family, remained respectful even when they weren't treated the same way, and continuously encouraged reconciliation. Despite all of this, the abuse and threats have continued.

Another ongoing issue is family politics. There is one particular aunt with whom my friend's family has a strained relationship because of past disrespect and insults toward her mother. Because of this, my friend sometimes keeps interactions with that aunt to a minimum. This single issue has become the excuse that many relatives use to criticize her and justify the way her husband behaves, while the much more serious issues in the marriage are ignored.

Her husband is expected to return to Pakistan in about six months for two family weddings (one is her brother’s).

He has said that he will not even go to her brother’s wedding, said some abusive things them and mocks her that he will come but to make it seem that is coming to her brother’s wedding but will not go in order to torment them. This time she fears that this matter will likely be on the extremes and the only thing to being peace is separation instead of having to listen to threats every single day.

There is one issue that is causing the family immense pain. If the marriage reaches the point where khula or divorce becomes the only option, what should happen with the children?

Her elder brother absolutely adores his nieces and would happily help raise and support them if they came back with their mother. Their grandmother also loves them dearly and wants them to remain close. However, because of the cultural reality in Pakistan, the family worries that a very young divorced woman with two children may face greater difficulty rebuilding her life or remarrying. At the same time, they also fear that asking her to leave her daughters behind could have a devastating emotional impact on both the children and the mother.

They are torn between what may seem practical from a cultural perspective and what is truly best according to Islam and for the long-term well-being of the children. They do not want to make a decision that either harms the children or unfairly burdens the mother.

My questions are:

* From an Islamic perspective, what rights does she have?

* Does ongoing verbal abuse, past physical abuse, inadequate financial support, humiliation, and constant threats justify seeking a divorce or khula if he refuses to change?

* What would Islam recommend before taking such a step?

* From an Islamic perspective, what would be the best approach regarding the children if the marriage ends?

* For those familiar with Pakistani family law, how are custody and child maintenance usually handled in situations like this?

* If you were advising your own daughter or sister, what practical steps would you recommend before her husband returns to Pakistan?

If Anyone could help?

Hey everyone, I am planning to pursue a UK LLB External degree in Lahore and am torn between University College Lahore (UCL), Pakistan College of Law (PCL), TMUC, and LGS; if any current students or alumni could share their honest experiences regarding the quality of the faculty, exam preparation, campus crowd, and overall academic environment, it would help me out a lot. I really want to know if these campuses offer a genuine university experience with solid teacher support, or if they feel more like basic tuition academies. Thanks in advance!

How do lawyers in Pakistan usually charge for their services?

I'm trying to understand how the billing system works for lawyers in Pakistan.

If I wanted to hire a lawyer for myself, not just for one case, but also for ongoing legal advice on different matters (property, contracts, family, business, etc.) how do lawyers typically charge?

- Is it per consultation, hourly, monthly retainer, or per case?

- What's considered a reasonable fee?

- If you have a lawyer on retainer, what does that usually include?

- Are there any hidden costs or things I should watch out for before hiring one?

I'd appreciate hearing from lawyers or anyone who has experience hiring one in Pakistan.

Thanks!

Introducing free local business directory for Lahore: 51,000+ listings for doctors, lawyers, solar panels, rent-a-car, wedding halls and more

First, thank you to the mods for approving this post, really appreciate it.

Hey r/lahore

For the past year we've been working on AtaPata.pk, a free local business directory built specifically for Pakistan.

The problem we are trying to solve: finding a doctor's phone number, a lawyer's address or a wedding hall's contact in Lahore means either asking around on WhatsApp or dealing with platforms that hide contact info behind signups and contact forms. AtaPata puts everything in one place, openly and for free.

**What's on AtaPata for Lahore right now:**

- 51,000+ listings

- Doctors (78 specialties): dermatologists, cardiologists, dentists and more

- Hospitals and diagnostic labs

- Lawyers

- Wedding halls and marquees

- solar panels

- Real estate agents

- Car rentals, home repair, tuition centers and more

No signup required. No contact forms. Just search, find the number and call. Would love feedback from you, if you search for something and can't find it, let me know. Still actively adding more listings and categories. Also open to collaborations with local businesses, listing and collaboration is completely free.

Need advice on a neighborhood issue

My family has lived in the same peaceful colony for almost 20 years. A few years ago, new tenants moved into a nearby rental house. Ever since, they and a few other guys gather at the chowk outside our street every night and sit there for hours, watching everyone who comes and goes.

It's become really uncomfortable and embarrassing to leave the house, come home, or even have guests over because they're always staring. It no longer feels like we have any privacy.

Is there any legal way to deal with this, such as filing a police complaint for creating a public nuisance? Also, can a complaint be made anonymously? I don't want my identity disclosed or any conflict with neighbors.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Advice needed dear seniors

Hi everyone,

I have recently completed my 4th semester of LLB. I’m a first-generation law student/aspiring lawyer in my family, so I don’t really have anyone at home who can guide me about the legal field.

For those who have completed their LLB: what are the things you wish you had known when you were at this stage?

What would you have done differently during university or law college?

Any advice regarding studies, internships, skills, networking, court practice, books, or future planning would be really helpful for a junior fellow. 🙂
