A guide for the Bois

Saw some posts guiding girls but none on boys , so this one is for you kings.

Academics:

How your grades are evaluated is totally different from what you have experienced all your life , so it will take some time to get used to it . But never ever ignore mids and internals ( internals include quizzes and assignment) try to excel in them and then probably you won't have to worry about failing a subject .

What if you do fail a subject? Well it will not be the end of the world you can still try to pass that subject in summer or side by side your regular semester it will cost you though. So try not to fail

Do not rely on teachers to learn things , moat of the time professors are just reading from the slides, but that doesn't mean there aren't good profs but they are rare to come across.

Social life

Please don't try to be over friendly in first few semester is dar sa ka shaid akela rah jao , people change a lot in first 2 semester asliyat baad ma hi ati but that doesn't mean ka socialize hi na kro bilkul .

And please please choose your company wisely , jaisi ap ki company waisa ap try to stay away from peeps like " ham to aisa hi han " , these type of people will never grow themselves and will never let you grow.

This is one of the most valuable tip:

Most of the boys would be coming from all boys colleges to wo lrkion ko dekh ka paghal hojayain ga ap na aisa nai banana don't ve a freak behind them , and tbh i would advise you to not get involved romantically with a girl at least not in the initial semester, baki interact kro opposite gender ka sath likin limit or tameez ma rah ka

Career

Idk bout other fields likin agar ap computing field ma ho to i beg you please self learn discover your interest and start learning by yourself at least give 60 to 90 minutes daily no matter what to self learning and please while in the learning phase do no rely on Ai , it might sound foolish but you will thank me later. Attend as many hackathons as you can even if you don't know jack shit , and be at least that much ready ka pehla ho summer ma internship ka lia apply kro even if you think you are not qualified but andha dhund krna , one of the things i regret is not starting early don't make the same mistake as me .

AND PLEASE PLEASE UNIVERSITY SA AUR KUCH NA SEEKHO TO CONVERSATIONAL SKILL SEEKH LENA , AND HOW TO PRESENT YOURSELF

Lmbi horahi ha warna batana ko to bohat kuch ha but jo bataya ha ya yaar rkh lo bara ha baki bnda experience sa hi seekhta

A young cub

Desperately need a mentor rn , i am studying comp sci but to be very honest the uni teaches little to nothing as compared to what is required in the real world so i have been self learning for the past year now . but often i feel the absence of someone who can guide me or answer my curious or stupid questions , although u can argue there is AI now a days but from my experience AI is only good when u know the overview of something and u tell it what to do , often when building real systems i took advice from AI and then it broke when i tried to test it and then i would have to waste hours and even days just to fix it and it could be prevented if i had the knowladge on how to do that .

So if anyone's willing to take my hand please let me know , I won't bother you too much , I will try to be as little nuisance to you as i can

Securing an API

i have a fastapi , basically which is hosting my ai agent , which will be recieving requests from 5 different domains , instead of letting the front end directly access the api , i added a worker between them .
my question is apart from

- per IP rate limiting

-per session rate limiting

- CORS/Origin validation

which security measures should i apply to secure my api , for context api is being hosted on railway and it access the database railway private network so that my database is not exposed publically

Help a newbie out

is it a good idea to host your cron jobs , background jobs (Queue) , and the API endpoints on the same worker ? which i know is not a good practice .
But why is it a bad practice ? what cons are there to hosting it on the same worker ?

is this a problem worth solving?

I'm trying to validate whether a problem we've been working on is actually painful for agencies, so I wanted to ask people who are running or working at marketing agencies.

For agencies running Facebook/Instagram/Google ads, getting leads usually isn't the hardest part. The bigger challenge seems to be what happens after someone clicks "Book a Call."

A few things I've heard from agency owners:

  • A lot of booked calls are from people who aren't really a fit (no budget, wrong type of business, just browsing).
  • No-shows are a constant problem.
  • Someone still has to manually create meetings, send reminders, check if the lead is serious, and follow up when someone disappears.
  • It is difficult to know where the funnel is leaking (are leads bad, are people dropping before booking, are reminders not working, etc.).

I'm curious:

How do you currently handle this process?

Do you use tools like Calendly + CRM + automation, or is it mostly manual?

Some questions:

  1. Do you qualify leads before allowing them to book a call?
  2. What percentage of booked calls would you say don't show up?
  3. Does someone on your team manually send reminders/follow-ups?
  4. Do you track things like:
    • qualified leads vs unqualified leads?
    • show-up rates?
    • conversion rates after calls?

The reason I'm asking is because we built a small prototype around this workflow.

The idea is simple:

  • Before booking, leads go through a qualification step.
  • Qualified leads can schedule a call.
  • Booking requires confirmation through email to reduce low-intent bookings.
  • Reminders and follow-ups happen automatically.
  • The agency gets a summary of the lead before the call.
  • The owner can see where leads are dropping off.

We're currently trying to figure out whether this solves a real problem or if agencies already have this handled well enough with existing tools.

If anyone is willing to share how they currently manage this process (even if you think this idea is unnecessary), I'd appreciate the feedback.

For a few agencies who are interested, we're also open to letting them test it for free while we learn they would only cover any direct infrastructure costs (things like meeting API usage/database costs).

Not trying to sell anything here mainly trying to understand if this is actually a problem worth solving.

Thanks!

A Team claiming to be from Islamabad police showed up

A team came to our house claiming to be from Islamabad police , they were in civilian uniform . said they were doing a survey regarding how many people live in the house ? obviously i grew suspicuous of it cuz why would the randomly come and do a survey nadra has every information of every citizen on them .

they asked to see the B/form claiming that they just need to see it once , as it has cnic of every person living in this house , I did not comply with them . that individual did have a card around his neck but that could be made up too , he had tabs and everything for the survey .

when i did not comply they said you can take this form , verify from the nearest police station , wrote his number and name on the backside of it saying that you can confirm it with the police station .

he said to fill it out by monday and they will be back to collect it , basic information about the residents of the house need to be filled on the form .

Has anyone else came across them too ?

For cleaning business owners with multiple employees

When a new customer requests a quote, what usually happens step-by-step inside your company?

I’m trying to understand how this process works across different cleaning companies with multiple employees.

Specifically:

  • How do new leads usually come in?
  • Who is responsible for responding?
  • How is pricing decided internally?
  • How is the quote sent to the customer?
  • What typically happens after the quote is sent?
  • How are bookings confirmed and scheduled?
  • Where do delays or dropped leads usually happen?

Agency owners, especially those running paid ads

I have an idea and I'm trying to figure out whether it's actually useful or whether I'm solving a problem that doesn't really exist.

Let's say someone clicks your ad, lands on your website, and wants to book a call.Instead of sending them directly to a calendar, what if the process looked like this:

They answer a few qualification questions. ( in the beta version this will be done with a form , but I plan to implement an AI agent in this step to increase lead qualification rate)

Only qualified leads can access your calendar.

They choose a date and time.

They must confirm their booking through email before the appointment is finalized.

The agency receives AI-generated insights based on the lead's answers before the call.

Automated reminders are sent to the lead before the meeting reducing no show rate.

If the lead doesn't show up, an automatic follow-up is sent asking whether they'd like to reschedule.

My thinking is that this could:

Reduce unqualified bookings.

Reduce no-shows.

Give sales teams more context before calls.

time spent manually following up with leads.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm not an agency owner myself, so I'd rather hear from people who deal with leads every day.

If you're running an agency and generating leads through Facebook Ads, Google Ads, SEO, referrals, etc.:

Is this a problem worth solving?Which part of this would actually be valuable?Which part sounds unnecessary?

How are you handling this process today?

Imagine an app where you could see what’s going on in your campus or other university campuses events you can participate in, hackathons, and other stuff. An all in one app for university students in Pakistan for getting updates regarding what is going on in other university campuses as well as their own campus. Don’t ever miss an event or competition of your choice.

Me and my friend are planning to make an app just for this cause. Do you think this is a good idea? Should we also document our journey while we are at it?
