Update: First Embroidery Project!

I wanted to thank all of you who were so happy to help with my project! I’ve had a few requests to keep updating my progress, so here it is! I’m hoping to finish it either today or tomorrow, and I’m fairly proud of how it’s coming along!

Advice for a Newbie

So long story short, I used to do cross stitch and basic embroidery when I was a kid to pass time. After being diagnosed with several chronic illnesses, I decided to pick the skill back up to help reduce screen time. I wanted to have a goal to work towards, so I decided to do little embroidered gifts for Christmas presents (money is tight and I love the personal touch) and this is the first one in progress! Any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated! I do have a hand tremor among other things so it’s tricky but I think with a little push in the right direction I can get it to the point I’m happy with it!

Custom Controller: The Sequel!

Finally finished my husband’s controller! His I do fear turned out better than mine, but I’m just glad he likes it! (He did pick the design and color palette)

Custom Xbox Controller

My husband and I previously had matching controllers but we kept getting them confused for the other persons. So I fixed it! It’s a vinyl wrapped faceplate so no assembly required.

Custom Controller Wrap

My husband and I got tired of guessing which controller was ours between the two of us (previously the same basic white one) so I got crafty! The controller is vinyl wrapped (just on the faceplate) with some paint marker and more vinyl decals on top. We do plan on getting replacement shells to paint but at bare minimum it was a great way to test the idea! I also promise I’m working on his as well, I just had to do a couple of extra things for his.

I’m stuck.

Thanks for listening. I’m hoping someone can give me advice or even just help me calm down from the whole thing.

Back in March, my husband and I eloped. With that, I took the opportunity to change my name to something that fits me more. My birth mom was less than polite with her opinion which obviously hurt.

Although I have supported from my in laws and friends, her reaction is absolutely destroying me. I understand there’s a lot of emotions on her end too, but she is flat out refusing to support the change in my name.

Mix that with the chronic health issues I have that she refuses to acknowledge, and it makes quite a mess. I’m already having to fight to get doctors to believe me (and the ones who do can’t get insurance approvals for the mri to find out if I have ms) and I genuinely feel stuck in a pit.

I can’t work enough due to health issues so my husband is working 60 hour weeks to keep us afloat, I don’t have a running car so it’s making money even tighter, and I don’t know how to help him get ahead. I’m trying to help around the house more, but is there something else I can be doing to help support him? Whether that’s helping him destress or things I can be doing to make his life easier.

I’m lost at what to do. Thanks for being here, and hopefully there’s a virtual hug out there somewhere.

Wedding Cake Practice- Piping Help Needed!

My husband and I are having a small party to celebrate our wedding in October and I wanted to start practicing the piping since ideally I’d like to make our cake (max 15 people, several of whom don’t like cake 😂.) if anyone has any advice to get better at piping, I’d love to hear it! I do have a tremor so it’s a bit tricky but I’m sure there’s things to make it easier!

The cake itself is vanilla almond confetti with vanilla frosting. I just added vanilla and almond extracts to a funfetti mix and made a classic vanilla frosting using this recipe: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/vanilla-buttercream/
