Police Escort Beitar Jerusalem Fans Through Vienna Amid Protests | APT

"Tensions surrounding a European football match spilled onto the streets of Vienna on Thursday as Beitar Jerusalem supporters marched through the city ahead of their UEFA Conference League qualifier against Austria Wien.

Beitar fans were accompanied by a heavy police presence as they made their way towards the Generali Arena. Some supporters were filmed chanting anti-Palestinian slogans.

A separate pro-Palestinian demonstration later gathered nearby, with protesters waving Palestinian flags and chanting, "Free, free Palestine."

Activists criticised Beitar's history of alleged racist and anti-Arab chanting and questioned the club's participation in European competition. One counterprotest sign read: "Russia is not allowed to play. Why Israel?

Austria Wien ultimately advanced to the Conference League play-offs after winning a penalty shootout 4-2 following a 3-3 aggregate draw."

Project Nimbus is a $1.2 billion cloud computing contract awarded to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud in 2021 to provide cloud infrastructure and AI services to the Israeli government. The project has drawn sustained criticism from employees, human rights organizations, and advocacy groups over concerns that commercial cloud and AI technologies may support military and surveillance operations, while Amazon and Google have stated the contract provides commercial cloud services to government ministries. Microsoft bid for the original contract but was not selected, although it continues to provide separate cloud and software services to Israeli government entities.

During the UN AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, activists from Drop Kollektiv, No Tech for Apartheid Europe, and Breakfree Suisse interrupted Amazon CTO Werner Vogels' keynote, calling for Amazon and Google to end Project Nimbus and raising concerns about AI's military and environmental impacts. Vogels responded during the disruption by saying the protesters were "robbing people that do the hard work for good," before security escorted the demonstrators from the venue.

A joint investigation by Germany's Coordination gegen Bayer-Gefahren (CBG) and Medico International has linked German conglomerate Bayer to the Israeli military's liberal use of glyphosate and white phosphorus inside Lebanon.

The report, “Cartographies of Destruction: Israel’s War Against Lebanon,” traces the supply of glyphosate and white phosphorus to Bayer, which acquired Monsanto in 2018.

The United Nations General Assembly is located in USA. How is this not a conflict of interest? Ignoring all the international laws the USA violates, if it cannot even uphold its role in this regard, which is frankly a privilege, the location must be shifted to another member state.
