What to look for when buying a used beater?

For about the last year ive been driving my stepdads 1997 tacoma. I just graduated high school so im looking to buy myself my own car, mainly just to escape the absolutely abysmal gas mileage the tacoma gets. I have $3000 saved up, and going to be getting a job soon to hopefully save up more. I preferably want something toyota or honda, and manual transmission. I know something like this will require some money and work but thats something im very used to and have no problem with.

Ive never bought a car before. Ive mainly been looking at fb marketplace, is there any other good places to look? What should i look/check/test for when I go to see the car? Whats etiquette for negotiating price? any and all tips appreciated

Going to be graduating here in a few days. Any places on west side of tulsa hiring? looking for something full time. not much experience outside of working with family members.

Best furniture arrangement and budget room treatment for bedroom studio?

apologies if this isnt the correct place to ask, if so please redirect me.

for the last 6 months ive been mixing through sony mdr-7506 headphones. i recently found some presonus eris e3.5 monitors local for $70 used. these obviously arent the best by any means, but its what i can afford. and of course i am at a great disadvantage regarding room treatment, but i just need the bare minimum its not like im making money off my music anyways its just a hobby. i still live with my parents, so i cant make any major renovations or modifications to the room. But i may be able to afford some acoustic panels, maybe some corner bass traps if i can diy some for cheap. ive heard hanging moving blankets is a good way too.

just wondering what the best orientation for the desk and other furniture is so that i can get the best possible sound from the monitors with minimal room treatment. i do have the closet which i removed the doors from, im sure i might be able to use that to my advantage somehow regarding sound reflections? the couch isnt 100% necessary, but i do have friends over quite a bit and a bonus is that it seems to help with the sound when im recording drums.

i record guitar both electric and acoustic, drums (although poorly, with limited mic options) and vocals, so any other tips are greatly appreciated aswell

How the hell do i turn riffs into songs

Ive been playing guitar for close to 8 years now. most of that time was spent teaching myself songs through tabs, but over the last 6ish months ive gotten myself some recording equipment and learned some very basics of music theory.

I can sit down to write and record a song and i can find 2 or 3 nice chords, play around with them maybe come up a riff or 2, but it is impossible for me to expand those ideas in any coherent or connected way. Im sure continuing to study music theory will help me with this over time, but its like the foundational songwriting skills i just cannot grasp.

for example i was messing around with open c# tuning on my acoustic. came up with a couple little riffs with some small variations. the problem is one of the riffs is in 4/4 and one is in 3/4 and i cannot figure out how to piece these together in any meaningful coherent way. no matter how i change the way i play them, try to transition between them nothing i do ever works or sounds like an actual song. and after that its like my brain just hits a wall and shuts off and at that point i just want to put the guitar down. did anyone else struggle with this starting out?? i feel like an absolute idiot

originally started out super small on a tight budget. Ended up selling an old guitar to a friend and used that money and it grew quite a bit. Besides a tuner and switching out the flatiron fuzz for something else, im pretty happy with where its at.

Kept track of everything if anyones curious:
mooer lofi machine - $54
ghostfire power supply - $30
d&m drive and fulldrive - trade
-sold fulldrive for $65
rv6 - $90
flatiron fuzz and digitech compressor - $113
ehx silencer - $75
behringer sf300 - $20
ernie ball patch cables ~50
gokko board - $63
boss dd7 - $100
boss ph3 -$80
digitech multi chorus - $56
behringer tremolo - 30
total: $696

I recently got myself a proper board (was just using some planks of wood screwed together) and as it’s grown ive started to run out of patch cables again. accounting for the tremolo and tuner that will go in the gaps, any arrangement i put them i still need more cables. Id like it to be tidy without a bunch of excess cable crammed underneath. wondering if soldered diy cables might be the better investment. which wire and connecters do i need? preferable as cheap as possible. and will my cheap soldering iron do the trick?

second, my power supply does not have enough ports. once i have a tuner pedal i can daisy chain one off that, but i will still be short 1 or 2 ports (cant use the 18v port. Can i buy a couple power cables that either have a male input and 2 right angle male outputs, or a short 1-2 inch female input 2 right angle output little extension bit? im not sure the exact words to use to get my point across. but basically i want to daisy chain 2-3 pedals each off one of the 300mah portswill these cables work?

I have an orange crush 35rt. sounds great with all my pedals, especially high gain stuff. Ive always been interested in a fender reverb series amp or a roland jazz chorus, but these are too large (i record in my bedroom) and far too expensive.

I need a similar size/volume amp that does sounds my orange doesnt (specifically more sparkly clean tones for mathrock and similar styles of playing). I also need it to take pedals well, because i will be splitting my signal and using both amps to experiment with stereo effects.

i should add im on a relatively tight budget. I got my orange for $180 used so preferably in the same price range

I have an orange crush 35 and ive wanted a second amp to try out different sounds + i want to try out stereo effects with 2 amps. Deluxe or twin reverb is a bit out of budget and too large/loud for bedroom recording. I will also be using a lot of pedals.

Still pretty new to recording. I have a scarlet 2i2 4th gen i use to record my guitars and drums with mics. it has an L and R outputs which are for monitors i assume, but i use headphones at the moment.

i need reverb on my drums and the reaper stock reverb kinda confuses me. im wondering if i can record my drums, then playback through one of the outputs, into my rv-6 reverb, then back into the input? this is kinda for my own curiosity, i prefer using physical stuff when i can before resorting to plugins. and i just like experimenting and making wacky stuff.

and one more thing, any tips for recording drums? i record in my bedroom with an acoustic kit. i have a shure 57 and an mxl 990 991 pair. at the moment ive been getting the best results with the shure on the snare, also getting the hi hat and crash. and then the mxl 991 on the beater side of the kick, also gets a little bit of bottom snare. despite the limitations, i manage to get a pretty decent kit sound if i take some time with EQ. Just wondering any other micing placement or maybe i can use the 990 somehow? i plan on upgrading to a bigger interface and better microphones once i save up.

Sold one of my guitars i don’t use. I’ve got $300 im trying to get the most bang for my buck and fill out all the gaps of my pedalboard.

For delay im pretty set on boss dd7, these are commonly $99 used, but joyo aquarius i can get cheaper with free shipping

modulation ive got a few options:

digitech multi chorus / hyper phase. ive had a partial interest in collecting some digitech pedals

phase 95 vs boss ph3, both $70 used

ive always wanted a phase 95, but i feel like id be able to get more out of the ph3

behringer chorus and tc electronic 3rd dimension under $30
