Is he a true Siamese?

Been wondering if my adorable little guy Smudge is a true Siamese or not. He seems to have the eye color and ears of a Siamese, but I haven’t ever seen another cat that looks just like him.

Is there any point in getting a Fender Quad Reverb if I already have a Twin Reverb?

I just got a '75 Twin Reverb, but now I'm seeing if a Quad Reverb would be worth it. Only thing is, they seem to be pretty rare.

Also, how does the Super Reverb compare to the Quad? I know the Super is a 4x10 and the Quad is a 4x12, but are the actual circuits any different?

Planning to install a 6-way Varitone switch in my 1959 ES-355. Would adding push-pull pots be pointless since you can already get close sounds out of the varitone?

So, I'm planning to install a varitone switch like the ones on the vintage stereo Gibson ES-345 and 355's. I dig the look, and I really like how many different tones you can get out of one. My only question is-Would it be unnecessary to add push-pull pots if I'm already adding something that would give you single-coil adjacent sounds?

Also, what/where is the best place to find a 6-way varitone switch? I know Gibson doesn't sell them directly, so where could I find one closest to the original varitone switches?

New amp day-1975 Fender Twin Reverb 100w.

Very good condition! You may have seen my posts about SF Twin Reverbs, well here she is. Drove an hour and 38 minutes to trade my Epiphone doubleneck for my first vintage tube amp. To say it sounds wonderful is a gross understatement. The vibrato channel buzzes just a tiny bit, so I’ll have to take it in to give it a look-over soon. Love the silverface aesthetic, non-original footswitch. I just have to get a cover for it.

Epiphone IBGC 1959 ES-355 with my new 1975 Fender Twin Reverb.

Traded my Epiphone G-1275 for this glorious, all-original 1975 Twin Reverb. The amp absolutely SINGS, and is incredibly loud and unbearably heavy. I love it.

What do we all think of "Rank"?

What is everyone's opinion of Rank? I always thought it was super underrated. The band sounds so powerful, especially with Craig Gannon, who is an absolute monster of a guitarist on songs like The Draize Train, Panic, The Queen Is Dead, etc. It is nothing short of such a shame that Gannon didn't stay with the band.

-Mike Joyce is such a powerhouse...and his drums sound impeccable. Anyone who says Joyce "wasn't a good drummer" is laughably wrong and concerningly dense. Listen to that snare drum!

-Andy Rourke is marvelous as usual. Unspoken genius, and one of my absolute favorite bassists in the world. Rest In Peace, you absolute badass.

-Johnny Marr-needs no introduction.

-Morrissey sounds really good. Not sure why this album isn't talked about more. The homage to Elvis with His Latest Flame is really lovely, and I love the crashing transition into Rusholme Ruffians.

Also, the live recording of I Know It's Over CRUSHES the recorded version. Man...the sound of Marr and Gannon is no joke. Mike Joyce at the end as well...one of my favorite drummers. The only bad part about Rank is that there were a bunch of songs that were omitted.

Update: Getting a 1975 Fender Twin Reverb tomorrow, it hasn't been serviced in 2 years.

Hi everyone, I'm sure most of you have seen my posts about getting a silverface Twin Reverb. Tomorrow's the big day...super super excited to trade a guitar for a nice 1975 Fender Twin Reverb. Found out it was a '75, not a '76.

The thing is, it hasn't been serviced in 2 years. Is this a problem or a harbinger of a money pit? Should I be concerned? I wouldn't mind getting it serviced, but I don't want the amp to turn into a classic luxury sports car.

EDIT: I should add that it hasn't been serviced in the time the current owner has had it, which is 2 years. This is the main reason for my concern.

Will we ever see remixes of Blow Up Your Video?

I absolutely adore BUYV, but unfortunately the sound of Brian's vocals aren't great, and part of the reason I don't listen to the album as often as I should. And it sucks, because musically, BUYV is my favorite. So many absolutely amazing songs that more than rival BIB. Two's Up, Meanstreak, Kissin' Dynamite...

Would Angus ever get together with a producer and remix BUYV? Or is there just not enough demand or interest in BUYV to warrant a full remix?

Purchasing a 1976 silverface Fender Twin Reverb on Saturday. What should I know beforehand? This will be my first vintage amp.

Super stoked to trade one of my guitars for a nice '76 Twin Reverb. I play mostly Rush, Prince, Elvis Costello, Smiths. My main amp is an early Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, which is great for overdriven music, but is horrendous at staying clean at high volume, therefore I've got my sights set on a Fender Twin Reverb. Always wanted a vintage, I much prefer the silverface aesthetic with the blue block lettering, and they won't break up like a pre-'68 TR would.

What should I know about silverface Twin Reverbs? I know they will turn your ears to dust if you crank them, but what else?

-Are they really as heavy as people say?

-Would a '76 SF Twin Reverb be too loud for bedroom practice?

-Should I invest in a variac or an attenuator?

What is the instrument at the beginning of Elvis Costello's song "Big Sister's Clothes"?

Doesn't sound like a guitar? An atrociously out-of-tune accordion?

Also, Elvis Costello and the attractions from 1978-1986 is some of the greatest music ever recorded. Why is EC never talked about in a lot of music discussions? especially his backing band, they were freakin' INCREDIBLE.

How to adjust tape speed on RCA RP3503?

How do I adjust the tape speed on an RCA RP3503 portable cassette player and recorder? I can't seem to find the motor adjust and the manual is absolutely useless.

My tapes play too fast, and it's bugging me pretty badly. I opened up the back and didn't see a hole on the motor either. Is it located somewhere else?

Is it normal to not want to listen to your own band's music?

My band's album was just released yesterday, and I find myself not wanting to listen to it. I've heard it so many times it's unreal, we've played the songs over and over and over, and we each burned CD copies for each other. Is it bad that I'd rather not listen to it for a while, let alone promote it?

Also, I feel a little miserable at gigs. I really like the guys in the band, but I'd really rather not be playing drums. I mean, it's cool I guess, and I'm good at it, but I don't look forward to drumming. Don't even get me started on slogging all that shit around, and I can't even bring my kit most of the time. We drove two and a half hours last week for a brewery gig, and it felt like such a waste of time and gas. What's even better is that we make less than peanuts from it.

I'm mainly a guitarist, and I write my own music that I genuinely enjoy. I don't want to make social media content whatsoever, and the entire music promotion process is superficial and draining. I don't want to tour, the expectations start piling up, popularity, FUCK no. Honestly, I hope we don't blow up. I feel musically aimless, like I don't know what I should create.

Don't have a lot of pride for it either, I don't like or want to listen to my drumming on most of the songs, even though the other guys insist that it's good. Whenever I listen to any of the songs, I just hear my mistakes. I'm already known as a drummer and it pisses me off. I'd also rather be buying guitars and guitar equipment for myself rather than drum equipment because I do not give a fuck about drums. The guys got annoyed when I got a new guitar rather than drum equipment. I don't care.

I don't want to be in ANY of the social media posts either, I'd rather not be on camera. Just give me the album credit. Just make content WITHOUT me. You do not need me to be in every post.

Why don't the 1959 ES-355's have a 6-way varitone switch?

I mean, come on. It's period-correct, and it's a super cool addition to any semi-hollowbody. You can get lots of unique sounds from them. The only way to get one now is on the Alex Lifeson ES-355 or the B.B. King Lucille. Anyone have ideas why varitones were not included on the 1959 ES-355? Wish they had included them, or at least offered a version with the varitone, but no. I'm tempted to add one to my IBGC ES-355, but part of me just wants to save up for a vintage Gibson ES-345 with a varitone instead of devaluing my Epiphone any further than I already have with the Bigsby.

Also wish Epiphone had a factory Bigsby version, not a fan of stopbar tailpieces at all. They look weird leaving all that space on a big semi-hollow, and Bigsbys are functional.

Adding a varitone switch to my ES-355?

Hi everyone, I've been thinking about adding a varitone 6-way switch to my ES-355. I've always been super curious about them, but I've heard a lot of talk about them being tone-sucking, or not very useful with one input jack. I love how they look on the ES-345 and ES-355, and I've never had one before.

Any experience with varitones? how much it would cost to install one?
