Does anyone project onto a dining table with leaves? Any issues?

Looking at a dining table with a few leaves that I would probably keep in all the time, but I would need to use it for projecting onto. My current table is bowed so it didn't really work for projecting so I don't want to run into another issue again. Thanks!!

Has anyone sewn a bean bag chair cover? How difficult would it be?

Is there a pattern for how to make one based on the size of the bean bag insert? We've wanted one and someone is giving away an insert so thought I'd try to sew a cover.

Also what kind of fabric? Maybe a duck canvas? or heavy linen?

Thanks!

What are your favorite brands/websites for outdoor cushions/pillows?

I know Sunbrella is a good brand but are there any others? I was looking at them on wayfair but for some reason it said it wouldn't deliver to my state. I also want washable!

Pics are for inspo. My furniture is a greyish/tan stone circular table with a powdery blueish grey metal/cast iron? chairs/base, and then some giant tan plastic ikea skarpo chairs (did they recently get way more expensive?) with a wood log as a side table.

Thanks!

Can I cook oxtail and soaked beans at the same time in a slow cooker?

Or will any flavorings mess with how the beans cook too much? I could pressure cook beans and slow cook oxtail with flavoring...

(don't want to cook on the stove because gets too hot and want to be able to leave it)

I was gifted a tray set-up and have so much compost (filled a small bin in a day). The last time I did worm composting it was in big bins with a bunch of newspaper.. What do people use now that you aren't getting a newspaper a day?

Can you use junk mail? should you avoid color print?

Thanks!

Is there any way to transplant a native grape plant this time of year? LA county

I just moved but still have access to the plants at my old place. I planted a native grape that is doing well (and another that isn't doing as well, in the shade). (I also have a prime ark freedom blackberry that I planted but that's not native).

Would I be able to transplant either of those right now? Preference would be to not remove the whole plant because I'd like to leave it for the next person, but I'd also like to get one growing where we live now without paying the $35 for a new one since they grow so easily.

Do you wash all vegetables/fruits before storing in your fridge?

Do you wash right away before putting in fridge? Or right before using? Say if you'll use within a week.

Thanks!

I'm so impressed with what babies just pick up by watching you!

Yesterday I took my baby's shoes off and he went and put them in a cupboard/entry table we just put by the front door that we'd talked about putting shoes into (just moved here, before the cupboard was in our shed with candles/vases) but hadn't put any in yet. We set it up the same day and had a few purses/grocery bags in there.

Then today he spilled (ok poured) something on the ground immediately after giving it to him. I walked into the other room to give my partner's cup to him and when I came back baby had taken a cleaning cloth out of the drawer (again, I didn't even know he knew where they were) and was attempting to clean it up.

Are futons ok for toddlers?

we have 2 rooms and since our 18 mo sleeps with us still our new 2nd bedroom will be an office/toddler bedroom/guest room (since family is 6-9 hour drive or 5 hour plane away). toddler would just use the bed for napping right now.

the futon would be the kind that folds up. would that be safe to use with a toddler?

thanks!

Baby dumps everything on the floor. Help!

I clean up one thing and then baby dumps something else out.

specifically if I give him any cup of liquid he dumps it out, if there’s a straw he removes it and dumps it. he dumps the dogs water bowl out multiple times a day. he also will throw his food on the ground. it’s exhausting!

has anyone been able to break these habits or what have you changed/implemented to help them learn? thanks!

Recs for a baby gate for top and bottom of stairs, that has to attach to a cinderblock wall?

Baby is 18 months and we are moving to somewhere with stairs. He is good at going up stairs but wants to walk down stairs vs going down backwards so we definitely need gates.

Thanks!

It's so hard to get rid of clothes that don't fit (1.5 years pp).

I am moving and my partner is going through clothes and exclaiming how nice it is to only bring clothes he likes/wants (that fit, no holes, etc.).

Then I went through my clothes and it's so hard to get rid of anything even though it feels like so long ago that I actually wore 3/4 of them (I gained weight when we originally moved here and started dressing much less adventurously, and then gained weight again when pregnant, and then again postpartum). Some still fit but they items just mostly don't look great with bottoms that I wear now (all stretchy waist/baggy)... like if I had a nice pair of old levis that fit they'd look cute but everything feels too tight now. All my stuff is thrifted, though, so it feels like a big thing if I get rid of it since they're one of a kind.

It just feels like a huge amount of stress to keep or get rid of stuff.

Bulk olive oil in plastic bag - do you move to a stainless container?

I usually buy a 9L container of olive oil.. would you keep it in the optic bag (inside cardboard) or move to one of those large stainless containers with a spigot? does the plastic degrade the quality or would moving it to something that would expose it to more air degrade the quality? the plastic/box also has a spigot.

thanks!

Has anyone actually found a shower water softener that works?

I am visiting my parents and my hair is so soft and voluminous and clean feeling. I'd forgotten what it felt like to not be flat and greasy and dry (and same for skin).

(can't do an expensive whole house water softener because don't own a home and just don't think it's something we can justify)

I tried to hula hoop and failed so bad!

I was at someone's house and tried to hula hoop and couldn't even go around once :o I am 1.5 years pp and have felt super week and haven't been able to consistently work out other than going on walks (hurt my shoulder while pregnant so wasn't really doing anything that puts weight on my arms like pilates or yoga, but also was worried about whether I had diastasis recti so didn't want to do the wrong exercises.. I went to pelvic floor therapy twice and then it ran out, so I'm not sure if I had have DR or not). I did eventually hula hoop for like 10 seconds but I could feel how weak my core felt.

I used to be able to hula hoop until I stopped myself (like could just keep going and going )

How do you settle on a style if you like them all?

I am moving and looking for some different furniture, more art, etc.

My style (theoretically) is a mix of modern (like dwell homes with concrete and bright colors and simple graphic prints), maximalist antique/mid century/nature (like design by nature by erica tanov), early 2000s contemporary (terence conran from that time), shaker, 70s cabin, and george nakashima-style. wouldn't turn down a craftsman home, either.

So how do I choose furniture and accessories? I already have a sofa I can't change which isn't any of these styles (pottery barn york in blue that I got used) and a teak contemporary cabinet and some darker wood mixed in. Some danish wood chairs, danish rocking chair, a mid century leather rocker/armchair (like mr chair). But do I go for light wood dining or dark wood or silver or black metal or mid century coffee table or live edge wood or colorful vintage textiles or colorful graphic swedish style textiles or neutral textiles????

Any thoughts on/things to consider with Formica topped wood tables?

bad idea with a messy toddler?

if I’m buying a dining table that I want to C stay in good shape, should I get solid wood vs Formica top?

thanks!
