Have any of you moved to a non speaking english country with an english degree?

If so, does an english degree find you a job in that country? Have you done anything with it over there?

Is it bad to have a milkshake for breakfast because it might spike your blood sugar?

I am not diabetic or anything but I try to avoid added sugar the most I can. When I wake up in the morning, sometimes I am too lazy to fry an egg or cook myself breakfast so I just throw some stuff in the blender and drink it. Usually I put in a banana, some berries, oatmeal to fill me up and it has fiber, milk and chia seeds or flaxseeds, sometimes peanut butter. I know fruit has fiber which prevents the sugar getting into your blood fast, but if I am drinking it, would it not have time to digest slowly so it would automatically go into my bloodstream?

Any ex drug addicts here that are now christians? I have some curiosities...

So recently I have been watching a lot of interviews with drug addicts, and the effects of drugs on people's brains. A lot of them that have recovered say that life is very very boring withoutthe drugs and they have never felt more happy and felt anything so good than when they were with the drugs. And also that the craving for the drug never goes away even if they have recovered. Heroin addicts describe that being high in heroin feels really good, the closest you feel to God, and you feel so secure and that all your worries go away. I don't know why but this topic interests me so much.

I know that God isn't a "high" but, have you found in God what you have been searching in the drugs? Or did being on drugs feel better? Do you still feel the urge to do drugs even if you are now a christian? And does life feel boring without the drugs? Also, a lot of drug addicts stories, the root of it is trauma. Has God healed you of your childhood traumas which has gotteb you into drugs? How would you compare being in God's presence vs being high on drugs?

If the pre trib rapture isn't real, then why do people have dreams about it?

I know that the pre- trib rapture is a new belief but then why are so many people having dreams about it if it isn't real?

You might say it is because they have heard about it, thereforse theh dream about it. But, I have heard stories of people that aren't even christian and don't know anything about the bible having these dreams. It is weird to me because since this is anew end times belief and wasn't really taught in most of church history, the why is this such a big phenominom now, and people didn't dream this before?

Why are some christians alternative? Emo, goth, etc..

My intention here is not to judge, I am curios because I have been overthinking this topic and I myself like the style. I know that christianity doesn't have a dress stlye code besides being modest and dressing like your sex. But with the alternative christians, is this stlye not a little dark? Like a little demonic? Isn't excesive black clothing, and the music supposed to give a dark demonic vibe? Not saying that wearing black is wrong, but I mean the alternative style in itself. Christianity seems to give this joyous, peaceful, type of vibe, and doesn't alternative style show the opposite of that? And aren't a lot of satanic people associatee with the goth stlye?

Difference between human services degree and a degree required to be a humanitarian aid?

So I always wanted a career that helps people in need. I was always very intersted in psychology, and watching documentaries of drug addicts, people in poverty, chkld abuse, child marriage.,ect... But I didn't want a job like a therapist where I just sit with an individual. I want something more broad and more flexible so I was think to get a human dervices degree so I could do community outreach work, case manager, help patients manage addiction or mental health struggles. But I believe that with that degree, you can only mostly use it in the country where you got it, so like I would work with that degree in the U.S.A. And if you end up being a humanitarian aid, it requires a different degree but you can work globally, if focuses more on local dissmaster relief, food security, assistance during wars. I find this to be a more interesting career. If I were to want to end uo being a humanitarian aid, what degeee would I need? And with this degree, can I do anything a person with a human services degree can do? Or would you major in international relations or public health and minor in human services? Or should I study human services and minor in international relations?

I can't decide between the 2. I like literature and I would like to study poems, novels, historical contexts. But at the same time I want to study grammer, proffesional writing, linguistics and digital media. Is it possible to do both instead of just picking one?

Were you ever in a cult, if so, how did you leave and why? How did you know you were in a cult?

I am not talking about the big cults that most christians know about like mormonism or Jehovas witness. I mean like maybe you were attending a local church which turned out to be a cult and you realized later. I am interested in this topic because I think I once met a cult leader pastor. I also recently came across a video of an ex witch that was a witch for 14 years and now is a christian. She was talking about in the video things that are actually demonic and gave a list since she knows from experience. One of the things she said was a group that doesn't allow you to have a your own mind. Like you only have to think how they think and cannot think any other way. You cannot have your own opinons or cant think any other way because she said that these are how cults are formed.

Why does every denomination seems to pray differently? And does it matter?

I have lived in south america where there are a lot of evangelical churches like literally everywhere. I think most of them are pentecostals. In these chueches people seem to pray very loud and intensely even in the microphone. Like you can be walking and anywhere and if there was a church near by, you knew because you could hear a lot of praying loudly into a microphone. Also, a lot of weeping, a lot of I would say maybe passion when praying. Also I noticed that pentecostals pay much more attention to demons and rebuking them and breaking curses and spiritual warfare when praying. The ones that I have seen there, it is alsmot as if they believe they are christians 2.0. A lot of intensity, you have to have this over the top passion, a lot of on fire for God preaching, praying intensely, speaking in tongues. It wasn't always like this but a lot of the times. If any of you grew up in hispanic pentecostal churches you might know what I am talking about.

I went to visit my dad and his family in Canada and stayed with them for about 2 months and was going to church with them every week. They go to a baptist church (don't know what kind of baptist church). But the praying there was complelty the opposite, intensity wise. No yelling, chill calm people. Lot of humble people that love God but like no loud intensity when praying like in the pentecostal churches I have went to. No speaking in tonges either. They preached repentance, Jesus's work on the cross, humility, the basics. They also weren't praying so many spritual warfare prayers like in the pentecostal ones. Also when the pastor prayed, he prayed in the microphone more calmy and there wasn't this outburst where eventually everyone would start praying and speaking and tongues and someone was all of the sudden getting delivered or something else.

I also grew up going to a russian orthodox church when I was little and I remember that when people prayed you couldn't heare it. Normally, they would be kneeling and praying very silently.

Anyways, does any of these ways of praying matter more like efectivness wise? Do pentecostals tend to pray this way morre because they are more passionate and maybe have more faith therefore we should too? Are the prayers in the bapitist or orthodox church equally effective?

My acne went away after I stopped using deodorant?

23F here. Two years agl for whatever reason, I have started getting acne all over my chin and since then it has been on and off. I am pretty sure it is hormonal acne since I only get all around my chin. Sometimes it would disapear and out of nowhere come back like crazy.

I read on google that apparently deodorant can cause hormonal imbalances in women which can cause hormonal acne. I will quote this from google.... "Yes. Certain conventional deodorants and antiperspirants contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs)—such as parabens, phthalates, and aluminum—that can mimic or interfere with estrogen and other hormones. While EDCs exist in many household products, cumulative daily exposure from underarm products can contribute to hormone imbalance.". So like 3 weeks ago I decided to stop wearing deodorant and since then, I haven't had acne on my chin. My acne started going away like a week later after stopping it. I don't know if this is a coincidence or what. Maybe it is one of thise periods where my acne randomly stops and will come back but I am gonna wait and see if it comes back. I also don't stink without the deodorant anyways so I have that advantage.

What do you guys think? Is this a coincidence or could it be that I stopped wearing deodorant?

Why are people skeptical of charasmarics/pentecostals when Mark 16:17-18 talks about specific signs that shall acompany believers? And what are your thoughts about this verse?

This verse says - "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

People who belong to catholic or orthodox church will say that Jesus gave only the apostles this authority but clearly he is talking about believers in general.

Concerning this verse, I have read somewhere that apparently this verse wasn't in the bible originally. Is this true?

And if a believer doesn't have these signs, does it mean that they are not a true believer? Because not all churches experiences these things like the pentecostals or charastmatics do. But like the pentecostal church also didn't start existing until about 100 years ago so does that mean that before that there were no true believers?

Do you guys think that Adam and Eve loved each other and were in love with eachother?

Also, more questions that I am curious about...

Do you think they stayed faithful to one another their whole life?

Do you think they stayed together until they died?

Did they have a romantic love between eachother?

Do you think they were reliving what they did (eating the fruit) in their heads and regretting it their whole lives?

When God made them, how old do you think they were? Like biologically.

Do you think they found eachother good looking?

Where they black? I am asking because I read that white people started appearing 10 thousand years ago.

Very stressed, can't sleep, extreme anxiety about life, it is making me hard to breath, overthinking, I don't know what to do.

I know Jesus says not to worry but I can't just magically stop worrying, I have to do something. I wasn't even planning to post on here but I don't know what to do anymore. I feel helpless.

I am very stressed about what to do in life. I am 23, currently with no job. I was working in a call center but the company shut down. I regret not going to college right away after high school, I though I would give myself a 1 year break but it has been a couple of years now. So, I don't want to be working in a call center forever or working in some store just to survive. I have to study something. I don't know what. I am interested in a couple of stuff, usually things in liberal arts. But apparently liberal arts degrees are useless. I am not interested studying something that involves tech or math, I hate math and I am not good at it. I have alwayss wanted to study psychology since I was like 13, I always thought that that is what I would end up doing. But you cant do anything with that degree unless it is a mssters degree and I dont plan on studying 6 years. I like writing and reading, so I decided recently to study english but apparently that is useless too. Or maybe I could study human services to later help people but I am wondering if that is a degree that will give me job opportunities globally because I do not know where I will end up living.

I know studying something that is not liberal arts pays much more but then I do not want to regret not studying something that I do not like as that is a goal of mine. It is like a itch that I have to scratch off. But I am scared that if I study something that I do like and am passionate about, I will have no job from that degree and end up working in McCdonalds.

People say, think what you want to do in life, and then choose the career that will give you that life. This stresses me out even more. I don't know what I want. I have lived in the Czech Republic for a little bit twice (.y grandma lives there) and decided that one day I have to end up living there because I like european lifestyle a lot more. But apparently with these degrees you aren't gonna do anything there. But what if i live in the U.S.A and then always have the desire to move there? I don't even know where ai feel at home more. That is the problem with having family in different countries and staying there. I can't even choose what degree I want. I want a career that is interesting but also can potentiolly be remote because like I said I don't know where I will end up.

I cannot sleep because of this, my mind changes every few minutes. In the daytime it is not as bad as nightime. My mind won't stop with the thoughts at night and I m having a panick attack all night. Like my heart is beating so fast and it is hard for me to breath. Everyone that I went to highschool with seems to be enjoying life. I can't. My anxiety won't let me, it makes me think that I have to be very serious all the time because I am an adult now and can't be all carefree like I was when I was a teen. I don't go visit my grandmother in europe noe because I don't deserve to enjoy my life, I have to be serious and anxious about my future. I used to be so carefree, interesting, full of life a couple of years ago, but my mind has made me bitter. I used to write eveytime I felt sad or felt something deeply and ended up writing something so deep, I don't even know where it came from, it just came out of me. I can't do that anymore, there is nothing in me, I have completly lost my spark. Btw I drink meds for anxiety and right now the anxiety is surpassing the meds. And I know this migjt sound stupid bc i am 23 but I feel like very very old for some reason. I feel like life just starts to end here and then no one cares about you and that life after 30 is super boring and my time is running out so I have to get married now while I am still somewhat pretty because as the years go on, no man will love me. For whatever reason, this really makes me anxious. Sorry, i had to let this all out.

Oh my goodness, apparently most degrees are useless. What am I to do?

I am NOT interested in careers that are technical, mathematical, engineering, bascially careers that are not liberal arts.

I have always been interested in psychology since I was 12. I always thought that that what I was going to choose or something related to that like human services jobs. But a psychology degree won't get you a job, only the knowledge of the human mind. I would be interested in helping people but apparently the pay is very low. If not that, I am also interested in sociology, but everyone on reddit says that that degree is useless and no one got a job after it. So, I was thinking maybe I will get an english degree, maybe there are more job opportunities with that degree. Maybe it is a degree that will offer me online work since I travel a lot too. But when I search if that degree is worth it on reddit, everyone says no, it is useless because the only thing you can be is an english teacher. I know a degree that is not in liberal arts pays more money but I have always wanted to study something that I am interested in and it is like an itch that I have to scratch off. But I can't decide what to pick since apparently all these degres are useless. Also, I prefer a degree that would employ me in other countries too or online (like I said I travel a lot, and sometimes I stay in other placew for weeks)
