I don't know much about grad school becuase my dream has always been to go to vet school, but now I am wondering if I should look into it. I am graduating from undergrad in a year from a very agriculture haeavy uni and don't wish to stay here for grad school/vet school. I am a summer intern in an agriculture production based lab, and its been pretty good so far. I know I dont want to work with production animals, but I would like to go into research. My dream is to be a veterinary researcher. But I dont know who to ask about this. From my understanding, you need to contact professors whose labs ur interested in and apply? I dont know anything else about applications since the grad students I work with already knew the professor. I am also confused about loans becuase I saw a comment say that if you take out loans for grad school, that reduces the amount of loans you take out for vet school? I thought tuition was waived and that you get paid to be a RA or TA? I am interested in reproduction and wildlife, but I don't know any professor or uni that focuses on that. How do you find the right lab? I have no research experience except the one im doing right now, but I do have a few hundred animal hours and clinical hours. I do have a lower gpa but I dont know if that is something grad school cares abt? I am open to going abroad since I have been an international student most of my life, except for the last few years. I am interested in research becuase of my current exposure to it, but I also really want to boost my gpa for when I eventually go to vet school. I appreciate any advice

I am graduating 2027 with my BS, and although I want to apply to vet school, I really want to focus on backups in case I don't get in my first cycle. I have a 3.4 GPA, so I want to focus on doing stuff to boost my gpa. Idk if I should do a master's or just take individual classes online after I graduate or do a graduate certificate. I have less than 1k animal/clinical hours but a diverse set of experiences (the schools I am interested in, I already meet their hour reqs, so I am not going to focus on that rn). I will be moving to Europe for a year and I cannot work due to my visa, which also limits things. Does anyone have any plan B or plan C in case they don't get in the first cycle? I know I will keep applying but I want to genuinely do smth during this gap year/years.
