Hey guys, I’m having a really weird issue with Secure Folder.

It was working completely fine on my S24 before. I disabled/closed Secure Folder, and now when I try to set it up again, I get:

“Couldn’t create Secure Folder. Unauthorized software is installed. Secure Folder can’t be used on this phone.”»

The weird part is that I’ve never rooted the phone or unlocked the bootloader. Knox is still 0x0, Verified Boot is green, and the bootloader is locked.

I’m on Android 16 with the July 2026 security update. I’m using a US unlocked S24 U1 (living in Turkey).

I already tried clearing Secure Folder’s data and also tried Safe Mode, but I still get the exact same error.

What makes it even stranger is that Samsung Pass is also not working. It says:

“Samsung Pass is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. (162)”

So I’m wondering if this is some kind of Knox/security environment bug rather than an actual “unauthorized software” issue.

Has anyone else had this happen, especially on an S24 with Android 16? Did anyone actually find a fix without factory resetting?

I really don’t want to wipe my phone if I don’t have to.
