[Online][5e 2014][5e 2024][Weekdays] Player looking to play Rime of the Frostmaiden/Out of the Abyss

Hi everyone, I am Murilo and have been DMing D&D for the last 5 years. I am 21 years old and originally from Brazil. It's been a while since I experienced D&D as a player and wanted to turn to this sub for help. I am looking to play Rime of the Frostmaiden or Out of the Abyss (other modules work too) since while I don't know their stories the cover and names seem really cool.

I'd love to join a group that is actively playing this or join a brand new one. If the group clicks I am more than willing to DM other modules or come up with a homebrew campaign myself. If I could be a fit to any group feel free to DM me on reddit or on discord (dolphinmannn).

Help with a Barbarian

Hi all, I am set to join a long running campaign (Level 1-15) and am thinking of creating a Dragonborn Barbarian leaning towards Path of the Zealot but that is not deadset. I was wondering what would be good Draconic ancestry, origin feats, weapons, stats, etc. for this build. I dont want to min/max I just want to make a character that can consistently do damage and have fun with it.

[Online][5e 2014][5e 2024][Weekdays, CEST] Player looking for a long term group

Hi everyone, I am a moderately experienced D&D (always room to learn more) and am looking to join a group that plays 5th edition (either 2014 or 2024 I dont mind). I've recently have come up with a lot of character ideas that I'd love to try out and haven't been a player in a campaign in a bit.

My dream modules to play are Rime of the Frostmaiden, Storm King's Thunder, Tyranny of Dragons, and Out of the Abyss (there are more but I can't list all of them). However anything set in Toril/Forgotten Realms are always a great time.

Please reach out to me via DMs, reply to the post, or DM me on discord (dolphinmannn) if I could be a fit for your group.

How many deaths are too many

I started running ToD about 4 weeks ago now (coming up on our 5th session this Thursday) and I changed some stuff so Chapter 2 came before Chapter 1. They arrive to Greenest and do the quests until the Dragon shows up, the module states to show its wrath before turning it on the players and I do so. Due to a combination of unfortuante positioning, a very unfortunate Tortle shell defense (disadvantage on DEX saving throws), and almost max damage roll on the dragon breath two out of 5 characters bit the dust. Happens I thought, D&D unfortunately has character deaths.

So they return to the camp for Chapter 3 and show up to the cave. They easily dispatch of the 2 dragonclaws + find the secret passageway into areas 12 and 13. They clear house and run into Frulam who retreats into area 11 through the chute. Langdedrosa calls out the character he dueled in Greenest and as the PC is losing the party jumps in to his rescue. 4 bersekers + Langdedrosa + Frulam seemed challenging but nothing the party couldn't handle I thought. The party survived by the skin of their teeth with one additional character death (very unfortunate positioning and unlucky death saving throws).

I heard this module was awfully balanced but is it actually this bad? Are my players getting unlucky/am I being too harsh? There have been 3 character deaths over the span of 2 sessions, I do hold back quite a lot (Frulam only used spiritual guardians when Langdedrosa had already died, and 2/4 berserkers were half health) and I even made Leosin a level 5 monk to counter this alledged awful balance.

This leaves me with the following question: How many character deaths are too many before I make some sort of change? Story wise I do not know how many times I can bring new characters as prisoners, or friends of an NPC before it gets to repetitive and ruins the immersion. The party are 6 in total, 1 player will join in about two weeks and 1 will leave for 2 months due to irl issues, should I consider bringing someone else in?

[Online] [5e 2014]/[5e 2024] [Available weekdays besides Thursdays/GMT+1] Player looking for a game.

Hi everyone, I (20M) have been playing D&D for around 10 years now and have been DMing for the last 5. I miss playing and would love to find a group that could make that happen. I love playing modules and would love to play Tyranny of Dragons, Rime of the Frostmaiden, or Descent into Avernus, but literally anything set in the Forgotten Realms is good for me. Ideally EU timezones but I can do Americas timezone depending on the hour/day. If I could be a good fit for a potential group feel free to DM me.

Help with character creation

I have been invited to a Chains of Asmodeus module converted into 5.5e and am struggling to decide on a character. For those unfamiliar with the module it starts at level 11 and ends at 20 the current party setup is: Bard, Cleric, Wizard, Barbarian/Figher, and Rogue (I am a late addition). I am struggling to think of a "flex" class since I'd like to provide support where there is a gap. Usually I play Barbarians but there already is one and I think doubling up on classes is kind of lame and negatively affects the cool party dynamics that D&D is known for.

The builds I have come up with thus far are:

- Paladin (Vengeance)

- Ranger(Gloomstalker)/Druid(Sea)

I would love some help/advice on the matter.

How to start with Lizardmen

After a 5 year break from WHFB I’m ready to pick up the Old World where I’ve decided to play Lizardmen. How do you go about starting a legacy army such as this one? I current own 3 custom kroxigors, an old blood, a box of temple guard and some broken Saurus warriors, any advice on how to properly start/expand?

How to handle a Yuan-ti PC

I am going to start DMing ToD next week, and my players started rolling characters. One of them is pretty adamant on playing a Yuan-ti (Halfblood/Abomination specifically) but I am not sure how to handle that since they appear in chapter 6 of HotDQ and throughout RoT. Additionally from my knowledge of the species they are pretty hated and seen as (and mostly are) evil inclined creatures and my party is already having some issues regarding 70% of them being evil.

I am conflicted whether I should allow the Yuan-ti character and would appreciate some help on the matter.

Warhammer Armies Project post The Old World

I’m relatively familiar with 8th edition and have been interested in WAP for a while now. I haven’t had any experience with TOW, I was wondering how TOW has affected WAP after its release in terms of rules.

Help with scaling encounters

I have a party of 6 players who are just finishing up Lost Mine of Phandelver and I really want to run Tyranny of Dragons while including Hoard of the Dragon Queen. LMoP ends at level 5 and I was wondering if there are any suggestions on how to buff Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, Frulam Mondath, Rezmir and Azbara Jos on top of all the other encounters.
