Just to clarify, the criteria for lead role here is someone who is either top billed in the posters, credits, promotional material etc, or someone with the most screen time in the movie.

Zoe Saldana in the Avengers movies or Guardians movies don't count (she wasn't top billed, and she didn't have the most screen time). Same with Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson etc.

Also for those wondering, Tom Holland is just below Chris Pratt at number 12 with $6.8 billion. He'll inevitably make it into the top 5 with more Spider-Man movies.

Also, only included live action movies here. Didn't want to skew the results with animated movies, where the cast doesn't have as much of an effect on people's decision to watch them in theaters as they do with live action movies.

Also, for rom-coms I counted both the male and female actors as the leads of the movie, regardless of who got top billing and most screen time, since I feel like the 2 main characters of a rom-com equally make the movie. Didn’t make much of difference anyway tbh.
