Since I finally got HBO Max and heard Wicked was on there, I instantly turned on the television and began watching.
If i could describe Wicked Part 1 with one word, I'd choose... breathtaking. Every part of the movie was great, and the casting was perfect. Everyone did a wonderful job.
Some parts I loved:
- Little Nessa going "yeah", my heart just MELTEDDDDDD
- "AAAAH YOU'RE GREEN"
- "We need a pastry!"
- Everything about Cynthia Erivo's singing (The Wizard and I? Defying Gravity? I don't believe that she doesn't like karaoke)
- "I can't hear your guesses because this is a letter"
- Jonathan Bailey (i need this man omg)
- "You must've... blended with the foliage"
- "Enroll here often?"
- Ozdust Duet... was on the verge of tears
- Everything about Popular
- I'm Not That Girl (this was the first time I listened to it, shockingly)
- "Your name? "yes" "Are you sure?" "yes"
- "I couldn't possibly, this is your moment! I'm coming!"
- Idina and Kristin. They slayed their 2 minutes of screentime, and I was on the floor laughing
- "Give me my leg! GIVE ME MY LEG!"
- Defying Gravity, especially the battle cry. Damn Cynthia what a way to end the movie.
Right after I finished Wicked Part 1, I noticed that One Wonderful Night was on Max, too. So, I played it immediately.
Some parts I loved:
- Bowen = Elphaba's Broom
- Jeff x 10ft Wizard Statue
- "oh boy i wonder what the next song is" -Ariana
- Popular ft. Remington (him and ariana were so adorable during it)
- Ethan's splits during DTL like DAMN
- The cast stealing everything from the set
- Cynthia flying over the audience during Defying Gravity
I loved the experience, and I can't wait for WFG to be available in July (I think)
As I'm posting this, I'm finally watching Wicked Part 1 on HBO Max.
I have loved Wicked since the first look of the film duology was released. However, until now, I have never seen either movie in full. I've seen some clips, and listened to all the songs, but never a full movie.
I know I'm definitely going to have a spectacular experience.
I knew who Laufey was back in 2024, but I never bothered to listen to her music.
Then, this month, I stumbled upon Lover Girl and instantly fell in love. I finally had a response to the question "who's your favorite artist?" (I didn't listen to much music before this). I resonate a lot with some of my favorites.
I've been listening to her music ever since that day. My current favorites are:
- Lover Girl: The song that introduced me to her. I even learned the dance.
- From the Start: One I resonate with. This is because I've had this crush on a friend for a while, but I was too shy to confess. And I never got the chance to, but that's a story for another day.
- Promise: An emotional one. I resonate with it because I never got to say goodbye to any of my friends before leaving them. (Yes, I know this song is about love, but I don't care.)
- Falling Behind: Another one I resonate with. I've been made fun of by some people due to being single. One of the lines, "My best friend's found a new guy", is also true, because my best friend broke up with her previous boyfriend (whom she was unhappy with) and fell in love with one of her close friends (whom she is now happy with).
- Clockwork: A new song I discovered. I really love the jazzy vibe of the song, it reminds me of the music I'd hear in a coffee shop at 8 AM.
Anyways, with all of that out of the way, I really want to listen to some of your favorites, so I can add to my playlist! Although I love this woman with all my life, it gets a bit boring listening to the same five songs over and over again.
So, go ahead and suggest away!
