Can’t automate boiler - help!

I have installed a Tapo S110e matter smart switch across the trigger point on my hydronic boiler with the aim of making it a bit smarter.

To act as the temperature sensor I have one (for now) Aqara W100.

Both are available through my home which includes an Apple TV4K and HomePod mini (which has a temp sensor for future inclusion).

I’m trying to set up automations for things like
- if time > 5:30am && temp sensor < 19.5°C then Tapo == on
- if time < 9am && temp sensor > 22°C then Tapo == off

Even these simple automations fail when I try to set them up. In a better case I want to set up automations than include logic for people being home or not, but I can’t even get these initial automations to save.

Any ideas why or how to get them working?

Banksia blechnifolia baby spikes

I love when the early flower spikes of our Fern Leaf Banksia appear! Soft and velvety like an antique teddy bear.

And unlike so many other WA Banksia, this seems to do pretty well here in Melbourne’s inner west.

Breaching Humpbacks off Broadbeach

Was walking along the coast at Broadbeach this morning when I noticed several humpbacks having a fine time. They were breaching for at least 20 minutes. Not great vision, but beautiful to watch.

As an Aussie Red Sox fan... Mead giving me an excuse to post.

I'm well over 50 years old, and have been a Sox fan since I was under 10 when my father brought a Red Sox warmup jacket back from the 'States for me when he visited for work.

I played ball when other Aussies were playing cricket.

MLB wasn't broadcast in Australia other than the World Series. I would keep up to date by occasionally visiting a newsagent in Melbourne that carried international news papers. I would read box scores and see the standings and not much else. I've been to Fenway, dragging friends with me to watch us lose to the Royals in extra innings back when Nomar was playing.

The internet changed everything. First by being able to keep properly across what was happening, then by watching. I took days off work for ALCS and WS in 04 as the games occurred mostly in the middle of my work day.

It's great to see another Aussie playing for the Sox! I hope Mead makes the best of the opportunity... I would have given anything to step onto the basepaths at Fenway.

Go Aussie! Go Sox!

Project Sunrise A350-1000ULR pics from Qantas Staffer

My sister works with Qantas and was invited, along with many others, to watch the arrival of Project Sunrise last week. Posting a few of her pics with her approval.

She wasn’t able to look around inside, telling me it was mostly fitted with weights to simulate passengers and luggage, along with additional instruments to measure who knows what.

She mentioned it is departing back to Toulouse today. I’ve asked her what time. If she finds out I’ll post here.

What disruption?

Standing on Tottenham platform for about 25 minutes. The only service during that time goes flying by with barely any people in it.

PTV app says “Good Service” on the Sunbury line. Yeah, thanks for that.

Also, why do I have to open the website for disruptions? Why can’t I do that in the app?

Floral Emblem of WeFo

Victoria as a whole may have the Pink Heath as our floral emblem, but here in West Footscray the Silver Princess dominates.

I love the mid-winter burst of colour as well as the influx of birds and bees.

Leathery “egg”?

Opened up the nesting box today and found this. It way quite leathery as my title suggests. The nesting box shavings were stuck to it, but it was quite flattened.

Any thoughts?

The one that started it all.

I was a fan of comic books back in the late 80s and early 90s. I loved Neil Gaiman’s Sandman when it was released in 89. Not long after, my local comic book store put Good Omens out on display, dragging me in on the fact that a creator whose work I loved was involved.

I loved it and could tell immediately that the humor was what the other author brought to the collaboration.

So I started collecting. Paperbacks of the books already in print, hardcovers from when I joined the following.

NB: I don’t loan books to friends any more. That’s the reason some are missing.
