Easiest way to diagnose a waterfall leak

Pond: inherited 1500 gal

Waterfall: approximately 50feet long, more of a stream really with liner

Pump: replaced in the sale, pipe runs underneath finished patio assuming approx 50feet with 10 feet of head.

Leak: Running the stream drains the pond in about 6 hours. How can I verify the piping hasn’t busted a leak before I invest time and money in new stream liner?

Head cannon for Nix cheating

How do you justify/explain that Nix can communicate the cards of your opponents?

Do you consider it a force dyad situation? Or is Nix secretly the main character all along?

Try this thing “you’re welcome”

Sometimes it’s a recipe, sometimes it’s a life “hack”. But whenever someone responds to or posts unsolicited advice and ends it with a presumptuous “you’re welcome”, I want to dox their entire family. 7/10 times it’s dumb, 2/10 times it’s dangerous, and the 1/10 times it’s actually good advice…the phrasing is so viscerally unlikeable that I want to disagree on principle.

Why not txa with whole blood?

My service is getting whole blood next month. We’re a semi rural service, with a pretty liberal set of protocols and plenty of toys like ultrasound, Lucas, etc.

I’m sure I’ll be able to ask this question when we start the training for whole blood, but I find it odd that we’re not adding TXA to our toolbox as well. Presumably if you need to give blood, you also need to stop some bleeding too?

CR doesn’t like the Sebo K3?

Long time listener first time caller. I was seconds away from hitting “confirm order” on a Sebo K3 to start my journey into canister vacuums, but checked Consumer Reports on a whim…and they were pretty “meh” about it. What gives?

Consumer reports is about as close as it gets to unbiased journalism in my experience, and they seem to go a little bit against the three things I’ve picked up on while lurking this subreddit. Those being…

  1. Miele is awesome
  2. Sebo is more awesome if you’re in the know
  3. The only thing worse than a Dyson is a Shark

I’ve got a tri level (2/3 carpet and 1/3 hardwood, 1 dog. 1 kid) and feeling a little analysis paralysis. Is the CR grade of 59 unfair? I’m not overly concerned about price if Miele will be a better fit

What are people doing to their appliances?

I promise that this is not a rant/vent. I see a lot of posts and occasionally hear people talk about the “good ol’ days” of appliances, i.e. how we’re in an era of widespread planned/perceived obsolescence. What is happening to cause this perception?

I’ve never experienced it. I’m genuinely curious if I’m missing something about the way we use our appliances that is somehow outside the norm.

I’ve been a homeowner for 16 years and across multiple moves I’ve had 1 instance of a faulty unit, and even then I’m willing to admit that the “bad” circuit board in my oven may have been related to the 1930’s wiring in the house.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and replaced some appliances for mostly aesthetic/logistic reasons. The new appliances don’t seem to operate any better or worse.

Are expecting more out of our appliances/products than is reasonable?

People who like ‘x’ are just pretending

I don’t question the things you like, why do you care what I like? I think blue cheese is terrible. Truly terrible. I don’t think people who do like it are faking, though.

Why is the idea that I might genuinely like IPAs/Oysters/black coffee/etc so bizarre. Hell, people genuinely like durian, and it’s banned in some public places.

Ego ride on for 5 acres

I have 5.5 acres. About 1.5 of that is fenced in and landscaped closer to a traditional yard. That part gets mowed every couple weeks or so. The remaining part of the property only gets mowed 1 to 2 times a year.

The ego appeals to me, partly due to the lack of maintenance, but mostly due to noise. I have two under two, and being able to mow during nap time sounds real nice.

Besides turning the large mow into a couple day project are there any other major downsides I’m missing

What to do with fish during liner replacement?

I need to replace my liner, I’ve got 3 goldfish and 2 koi about 8-12 in. How big of a tub do I need to store them? Do I need to transfer some of the water from the pond? How long do I have if I don’t get it done on one day?

I’m super new to all this

The boxes for some of my attachments are starting to fall apart. Has anyone figured out a storage option that doesn’t just devolve into throwing everything into a tub?
